My obsessions...

Hey guys. it's been a while without a blog (I don't even think anyone reads this but whatever). I decided I would do a blog dedicated to my obsessions. I have a very obsessive personality and I always have something I am obsessed about. sometimes 2 or 3 things.

It started when I was a baby. I can't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with teddy bears. I absolutely LOVED them. I still do I have like 50 in my room and whole shelves dedicated to decorative bears. I had a subscription to a teddy bear magazine at one point!

Then I moved on to beanie babies. LOOOOOVED them. It started with the little ones at McDonald's. My and my younger brother both had sooooo many of them. Ten we got the bigger ones and the biggest ones.My favorite was a turtle named Speedy. I still have him and brought him to University with me.

After that I kinda had an obsession with Pokemon. I know I'm sad eh? but I watched the show and I had the gameboy game I had billion of action figures and handbooks. I was such a sucker for that type of thing.

Then I went through a hippo phase (random I know). I just loved everything that had to do with hippos. I even stole a hippo book from my school library. I used to draw hippos on everything. It was really wierd.

Then I had an obsession with the colour orange. It's still my favorite colour. My room is still orange.. But all my clothes were orange for a while. I really was a wierd kid.

Then I had an obsession with Pirates of the Carribean. I got the first one on DVD for christmas one year and watched it 25 times before Christmas break was over. I knew (and still know LOL) every single line of the entire movie. I had pics of Johnny Depp on my wall beside my bed. It was I think the worst obsession yet.

Then I went through an obsession of math/logic puzzles. The website I went to was www.conceptispuzzles.com . It is the best!!! I used to wait every week for friday to come because then new puzzles would come out. I am sooo wierd.

And theeeeen.... my biggest obssion of all time : Law and Order SVU! I am still suffering from this one (although not as bad as when I started I think). It all started after I watched fault 2 years ago. And I have been very crazy since. I would name off all the weird stuff I did but I'm sure you are all to familiar with the reading fanfiction, knowing all the names of all the episode, ect.

And my newest obsession (which is rivaling the SVU obsession) David Archuleta! I saw him first on American Idol and I have been in LOVE with him ever since. I rewatch all his AI performances on youtube, I am on David forums, I send him fanmail, I have downloaded his iTunes songs and listen to them every night when I fall asleep. And it's just getting worse. LOL it's hard to juggle both the SVU and the David obsession at once!

So that's it! It makes me wonder what my next obsession will be. So far I've had a toy, an animal, a clolour, a movie, a tv show, puzzles, and a singer. what's left!!!!

Frustration With The English Language...

OK well this is a mini rant about how annoying English can be. Mind you, I don't spea any other languages fluently (I used to be OK in french and took a spanish class this term) so I don't have much choice in what to speak but sometimes the lack of descriptive words in English is frustrating. Specifically this is a rant about the word "love".

I love SVU. I love chocolate ice cream. I love my mom. I love David Archuleta. I will someday fall in love? Are these all the same???? Seriously, there should be at least 3 different words for love.

Love#1: This love is another way to say "strongly like". It wouldn't be used for people you know. I think it could be used for celebrity crushes or other people you don't know personally in addition to objects or activities you thoroughly enjoy. I love spring. Ilove Johnny Depp. I love eating breakfast. I love spending time with family. I love tv.com. You get the idea...

Love#2: This love is to describe your feelings for friends or family. I love my mom. I love my brothers. "I love you Jess (a friend)". Maybe this could include animals or anything you have a personal bond with (I would put my love for my teddy bear in this category just because ). This is deifferent for love#1 because you don't just enjoy these people, but you have a deep personal connecting with them. You miss them when they're not there, you think about them all the time, you're purely hppy when they're around. Although I might not Love#1 what my brother is doing (for example, if he's bothering me) but it won't affect my love#2 for him. Love#2 doesn't just happen, it's formed with time and experience together. When you love#2 somebody , it is a very special thing.

Love#3: This love is the type of love when a girl falls in love with a guy. I can say that I have never experienced love#3 before so clearly I am no expert but I have seen love#3 in many people. I won't try to preach what it is, becasue we all know (or don't know) what I'm talking about but it is different for love#2 and love#1 and is very special. I hope I will one day experience it.

But serieously guys... who decided these 3 should be the same word... they clearly describe very different emotions. Sometimes I want to tell somebody that I love#2 them but if I say it, it sounds so un-special because I use the word love 30 times a day describing things I love#1 love. Does't this bother anyone else?? I just hope everyone understands how much I apprciate them...

Math!!!

So I don't know if anyone actually reads my blogs, but if you do, I decided I should blog about one of the most beautiful things ever. Mathematics.

I know, I'm crazy right??? OK wait before you stereotype me as some crazy person who can do crazy multiplication in my head and can recite pi to 100 digits... hear me out! I never was great at my timetables (thats more memorization than math anyways) but I was always good as a kid at puzzles and things and this is what helped me in math in elementary school. In high school, when real math begins IMO, I started to find it fascinating. Some parts obviously are annoying but it just got cooler and cooler as I learnt more and more.

Now I am University, and have declared math as my major, and boy I am excited! This year (I am in first year) I took 2 math courses; calculus and linear algebra. Calc is kinda cool and is more related to math i already knew (functions and such) but linear algebra is what really got me into it. It's just such a complex thing, multiple dimensions and such... impossible to picture in real life but yet, makes so much sense. And when I learn it, I just feel like my brain is expanding at a crazy rate, it's an amazing feeling! I love it. And I know I've only barely hit the tip of the iceberg of mathematics, and I still have 3 more years to learn more. I'm actually really excited. The crazy part is that the smartest persn in the entire world won't even be able to understant it all... its just sooooo big.

And its really cool how matrices, although seem so useless to real life actually have a huge application to almost everything. It's really cool. And when I'm done school I'm going to teach math so I can pass on my love for math to others.

Oh and Tom... if you're being a creeper and reading this A) you need a life B) You shouldn't have given up on math.

Dexter/David Archuleta.

OK have you guys watched Dexter. Now that show is the definition if INTENSE! And every single episode leaves you on a cliffhnger so you basicly have to watch both season straight (I watched 24 episodes in 5 days ). Its such a good show though. What a wierd idea... a serial killer who kills serial killers. WOW.

Anyways in other news... anyone watch American Idol??? Anyone els in LOVE with David Archuleta????? This kid is soooo amazing, I love his voice and he has such a cute personality. OH man, I have a mini obsession over him blah

Beavertails!

OK for everyone (gumcurls especially) who has never heard of a beaverrtail... i pity you. Because they are sooooo awesome.

They are a kind of food basicly, like a pastry with cinnamon and sugar on top. You can get one with lemon too and there are other kinds. they are soooooooooo good. My favorite thing to eat ever. Here's a picture:

So yeah that is probab;y going to be kinda cut off but they are sooooo tasty.

Also where I live, they have this annual winter festival type thing and one of the main attractions is a canal that they turn into a giant skating rink. It`s the longest skating rink in the entire world and its amazing to skate on. It`s like 6 kilometers or something liek that. And there they have beavertails and I like to eat them. Beavertails taste like 100 times better if you eat them outside in the middle of winter because then th pastry kind of freezes and gets crispy. mmmmmmm

Here`s a pic of my beautiful canal:

[

so come to Canada and eat a beavertail!!!

Ef Life

So.... just a warning (as you can probably tell from the title) I am in a bad mood right now.

K so summary of the last week or so: I am in first year university and basicly next year I wanted to become a frosh leader. Theres 3 parts to it: a written application, a group skit/cheer and an individual interview. So basicly I spent hours last week mking my written application really really creative and cool, I stayed up to 3 in the morning one night writting a frosh week poem. Then our group skit was really really really good. And the exec really liked it (or so I thought) and the interview was hard, but I thought I did OK. 55 people tried out and 40 made it. Thatspretty good odds right? So yeah today we were going to be called to find out. and guess what???

I didn't make it.

I can't believe that my writeup, skit/cheer and interview wan't good enough. They probably weren't the best but they were definately in the better half. So basicly I think the people were unfairly picked. people who are more involved in student government made it even though I think they might not have deserved it. Boys made it almost for sure because our girl-guy ratio is very small, and I actually think some of the people picked were picked because they add "multiculturalism". People rarely call discrimination against white people but I honestly think thats what this is. My asian friend made it and I think I deserved it just as much as her and my inidan friend also and I definately think I deserved it more than her. I dont think its fair that they'd pick people based on their race. I mean, I dont know for sure if I'm true but my skit and my application was AMAZING and I am just really P***ed off right now. why even bother making me embarass myself, spend time, and put so much effort into my thing if they won't even use that to consider who got picked. honestly, I had a huge math test I couldnt have spent so much more time studying for if it hadnt been for all the time I spent on this audtion. I am actually soooooo mad.

I never audition for things. ever. In grade 3 I auditioned for a childrens choir and the lady told me to come back when my voice had developed. That experience scarred me. Ever since then I dont sing withour a group of people and Im really self-concious about my voice and also I hate trying out for thing (i developed a fear of rejection). But this time I really wanted this. SOOOOO badly. honestly, frosh week was the best experience of my life and I really just wanted to experience it from the other point of view. And I know I'd make a good frosh leader... I'd actually be amazing. I'm so supportive and enthusiatic andjust a fun person.

But no.

Now I get to watch my friends as they have fun. They are now part of an exclusive group of people. Something I dont belong to.

Ef the exec. Ef everything. Ef life.

Help! Questions!

OK so I decided after about a year of laziness to do some contributions to the site (tv.com) but I have some questions.

How many points do you need to become a trusted contributer?? An editor??

Oh and what kind of pictures can I add. Clearly not copywritted or whatever but how do I know if they're legal>??

If anyone can answer these questions, thanks!

Silence...

So yeah its almost Christmas and my floor is ridiculously quiet... everyone basicly is done exams and has gone home. There's probably 11 or 12 good friends on my floor and as each of them left for the christmas break, we'd all hug them and say our good byes. When the first person left, there was a choral goodbye from many of the rooms in the hall. People have been leaving ever since - an everytime the group of friends saying goodbye becomes smaller and smaller.

Tonight I'll say goodbye to the last of my floor friends. I'll give her a hug and watch as she drives away in a taxi -- and then I will be really alone. It will be sad.

Then tomorow night my dad will come to pick me up. I will grab my bags and we will carry them down into the car. Nobody will be there to say goodbye to me. No hugs. No "Merry Christmas"'s. No "Good luck on the rest of your exams". Nobody waving. Nothing.

It sucks being last.

And I am slightly scared of sleeping here by myself tonight. There are other people they are just at the other end of the hall and I don't talk to them.

I'm scared of silence. I'm scared of not having someone around. I'm scared for my last exam.

I'm sick of studying. I'm sick of not being home. I'm sick of writting exams.

I just want to be home.

How old were YOU when you got an email address??

yeah so I am just wondering because I just got my 10 year old brother an email address. I think its a fairly reasonable age. I know I didn't get my first email until I was almost 12 but technology have changed alot in just 7 years and kids are getting them earlier and earlier. My brother said that everyone in his class has one already. I asked him why he didn't have one, he said he didn't want one. I know he does though, he just doesn't know how to get one and was too shy to ask. So he was pretty keen when I told him I'd set him up.

I know that grade 5s have no real practical use with email except to messge their friends (really slowly I might add because none of them can type) but I don't see any real harm in it, he has to get one eventually. msn improved my typing dramatically when I was in garde 7/8.

So what do you think? should 10 year olds have email???

Monogamy Quote - READ! (eoish)

Hey guy,

So I was watching monogamy the other day and something the victim said really rang a bell and makes me think of Elliot so badly. He it is:

"Everything changes when you're having a baby; It's about what's safest, not what makes you happy" -Nicole

This totally applies to Elliot and Kathy and the random getting back together. Kathy doesn't make him happy but it is the safest. Clearly Olivia makes him happy

F***ing Residence!!!

So yeah I am at University, which is great and I am living in residence which is alright most of the time but the whole TV situation is pissing me off.

First of all my floor got shafted a common room. Before I came here the school promised every floor in residence had a common room (aka a place to watch TV), but apparently not. So I have to go down to the second floor. Which is fine most of the time. Kinda anoying but still OK. But last week when I went down to watch SVU, people were already watching bones. So then I went (kinda panicky) to the attached building to fins an open common room and actually found one luckily. I would have seen soooo pissed if I missed blinded.

So tonight, once again people were watching bones but this time I couldn't find a common room, they were all full, so I couldn't even watch it. I am so pissed. What the hell? Bones? honestly... not cool. If I miss paternity net week I might actually drop out of school. Not actually but I will be pissed. Like more pissed than I am right now

PS link for the preview anyone?
