PC rules!!!!

Ok....I decided to spend a fortune on my new pc: dual core 2.4 GHz, 8600 GTS, 1 GB RAM. Yeah, I know, it's not oh-so frigging-cool. But I can play Crysis with decent fps on mid setting. And it confirms my old belief that pc is still the best platform. Forget about Xbox 360. And After years of keyboard and mouse, I just can't picture myself playing Call of Duty 4 with that stupid joystick. I played Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect on my friend's Xbox 360 and found that I just couldn't familiarize with its controller. Just like what Bill Gates said last year: "Mouse is the best input device in the history of mankind." Amen to that.

Another reason. Take a look at Capcom. They just threw "Playstation exclusivity" policy out of the window. Their games will be available on PS3, Xbox 360, and.....pc! How about Crysis on any console? Not even a rumour. And there's no secret that Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, GTA 4, and some other AAA console games are coming to pc. Oh and now I can play PS2 games on my pc too! Oh my fellow pc gamers, rise. Raise your hands and shout your victory. Let us march to the edge of the world. And let it be heard that pc is the conquerer of the gaming world!!! Ok....that's it for this post. Now it's time for me to go play Final Fantasy XII on that frigging PS2.

Things have changed

It's been too long since the last time I wrote a post on this blog. I don't think anybody is going to give a care to this post. I'm writing this because I just want to appear busy (I'm in the office ). So many things happened in my life. I've been to some places in Europe and East Asia. I've met some cool and talented people, like Dr. Sawas who used to be an engineer at NASA. The greatest of all that happened was I met an amazing girl who has become my wife. She doesn't like pc games. And she always interupts me when I storm a dungeon in World of Warcraft with my friends. But I still love her. But this happiest thing also brought me the most painful thing ever happened in my life. We were about to be parents. But there's something wrong with our baby boy. And he died just 3 days after he's born.

Let's talk gaming. Ever found yourself caught in an arguement "PC or console?"? I'd always been a faithful PC gamer. Well, some console-only games and ported games are pretty cool. But I still thought PC was the best platform in the world (and the most expensive). Warren Spector said a couple years ago that PC gaming was facing its Dark Age. I didn't believe. But now I'm beginning to see truth in it. How many PC-only games have we got this past 2 years? Publishers see PC as the forth platform.....an after thought. Why? Simple questions. How many Xbox 360 sold so far? And how many gaming-capable PCs out there in the world? Are you going to spend more than 2000 USD to build a very powerful monster PC, or less than 500 USD to buy a Xbox 360? Maybe you're a millionaire. Maybe 2000 USD is nothing to you. But 2/3 of other living souls on this Earth are poorer than you are. And I'm 1 of those 2/3. And developers won't make things better. Take a look at Supreme Commander.....How am I going to play it with my prehistoric PC that only has P4 3.0 and 7800GS? Man...even the currently most powerful PC can't bring out a decent fps at highest setting. Now I'm thinking about shifting to Xbox 360. I would miss out some PC exclusive games, of course. But how many would that be?

you can't have everything

I just bought the Sims 2! Yeah! There's some incident during my journey to Pantip, the biggest IT shopping center in Thailand. The bus I took, it had some kind of electrical system problem. And consequently, the doors wouldn't open! The driver said we had to climb out through the windows! But thank god that we finally managed to force the door open. Well...a small problem wouldn't make me give up.

Anyway, if there's anyone reading this, I want to tell you that PC games in Thailand are cheaper than hell (that's the only one good thing about thailand, in my opinion). I've heard it's the cheapest in the world. That's because Thailand is a poor country with low cost of living. Back to story......I bought the Sims 2 for less than $20 US! Cool, eh? But it's "Thai Edition" Means everything in the game is written in Thai, and you can't choose to use English instead. Good for marketting, eh? Thai people who have abysmal skills in English can play the game. But, really, I want to kill all those people who worked on the game's translation! They got lots of things wrong. And it makes me confused, cuz some texts, some options, some descriptions...they don't make sense. This is not the first time. This problem also happens to game manuals too. Like when I bought True Crime: Street of LA, I read its manual It told me something about Nick Kang using a flamethrower (written in Thai)....What the heck? Nick Kang could use a flamethrower? Then I got it. They translated it terribly wrong. They translated "firearms" into "flamethrower"!

This translation thingy, I understand.....It's something to do with marketting. And I can't do anything about it. I'm just another gamer. But next time, can't they make a game have 2 languages? Or at least get a better person to work on translation?

less time, but more games. what to do??

What is good about this year? I've finally got a job, a civil officer. It's not what I expected. I just consider this a temporary job (even it's actually is a ....kinda life-time employment) because I wanna be a heavy metal god. I did not apply for this job out of my own free will, like it's said in the Matrix "There is no free will", my mom wanted me to. I really really wanted to say to my mom this: "It's my life, mom. If you love this kinda of job so badly, why don't you apply for it yourself?" Oh wait....She's also a civil officer! A university teacher, to be more exact.

Most people would say bravo when they got a job. Well....for me, yeah, it's good to have a job. Now I have enough money (Did I say enough? Hell no) to buy stuff, to upgrade my PC, to buy games. Especially this year has a lot of great new games, and more are coming soon. But why having a job troubles me? Cuz now I don't have much time to play my lovely PC games! I remember that I beat Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow in 3 days. I beat Far Cry in 6 days. Yeah yeah...most of you (if there's anyone reading this journal, the most boring journal in the world) might say: "Dude, I beat Far Cry in one day.". I know.....I suck.....Happy now?...Oh well....But guess what? It took me almost a month to save Mars and Earth in Doom3! A month! I couldn't believe it took me almost a month to beat a very short game like this!

My god.....I've got money to buy any games I want. But I don't have enough time to play them! What should I do to solve this problem? Maybe I will turn to N-gage QD instead? So I could play games when my boss' vulture-like eyes turned away from me? No way, Those games on N-gage and other mobile stuff suck, big time. So..what should I do? Anyone can help me? Anyone reading this at all? Oh well....
