Summer and Hopefully My Last Major Snag
Yeah, it's June, and I haven't progressed much on that fanfic.
To make a short story long, I haven't been able to get re-started on it. I had another, long, writing project in April, so that certainly slowed things down. Then, my AP US History class got VERY stressful in May with an immoral amount of homework. And, afterwards, the finals in June.
Somehow, all of my written planning for the fanfic ended up in the trash can. Not to mention, the eighth episode kept getting deleted by my sister. After a while, I got bored of re-writing the same sections over and over and over and...you get the picture. It's hard for me to write something unless I'm inspired to do it, and it's hard to be inspired when I'm writing out the same, boring events.
The good news? Well, it's summer, and I have a lot of time on my hands. Plus, it's been a long time since I looked at the surviving fragments of episode eight, so it feels less tiresome to write it out again.
Something in my gut tells me that this story won't be done until after Halloween, but I'm trying my hardest to make sure that it won't happen! I'd like to see the entire rough draft by the end of the summer, which, frankly, is the hardest part. It should be pretty simple to convert everything into a post-able format and do a few final revisions.
And, now that I've made a new post, I need to reveal a character that won't be involved in my version of TDA. Unfortunately, I have to say that DJ won't be a contestant. Sorry, DJ fans!
Production Resumes!
I feel so alone. No one's commented on anything. Oh well. Perhaps I'll attract some people once the fanfic actually starts.
Yes, I actually did win NaNoWriMo. It was hard work, but now I have a new novel and bragging rights to all my friends.
Now, production on my fanfic can pick up again. I'm making it a personal goal to finish one episode per week at least. I'm hoping to get it all done before March.
As for the TDI special, this sort of messes up my timeline for the fanfic. See, it's supposed to be season two, Total Drama Action. Most of the planning for my series was done a long time ago...even before everyone knew about the film studio lot. So, in reguards to my fanfic, I'm pretending that the special never happened.
Although, I do have to agree that the TDI special was awesome! I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone in the US, but it gave me a chance to get the personality for some of the returning campers in my fanfic.
On another topic, I've decided to tell you a camper who won't appear in my version of TDA. I'll probably do this for every update I post until the fanfic starts coming out. So, one of the campers that won't be returning...is Eva.
November Will Be Slow...
Hey. I know not many people actually visit my blog (if at all). So, I guess I'm just posting this for those few who do see this and are wondering why the fanfic is taking so long.
Well, in the month of November, there's a little thing called National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. The entire point is to try to write a 50-thousand-word novel in one month. It is possible. I've done it last year, and I really want to do it this year. But that means spending about two hours on the computer per day just typing my novel, and I get tons of homework.
The bottom line is that I won't be getting much of the fanfic done for the next thirty days. I might be able to write an episode or two in my spare time, but don't expect it to be done. This is exactly why I said that it wouldn't start being posted here until 2009. Don't give up, though. I'll still get it done.
Total Drama Fanfic
Well, it looks like I'm going to do something that's already been done a billion times...a TDI fanfic.
I'm writing it in a unique way, though. The initial draft is going to be on a scriptwriting program. That means two things. One, it'll be in a script format when I actually do get around to finishing it. Two, it's going to take a little longer because I have to retype it onto Microsoft Word before I post it up here. I probably won't start posting episodes until '09.
But because I'm going to take so long, this means that you people have more time to throw in suggestions. No, I'm not taking characters. I have all the people and eliminations planned out. But, seeing as I've only typed up to the fourth episode in my first draft, there are some plot adjustments that can be made. I could always use new challenge ideas, because the ones I have come up with are pretty suckish.
I should probably get something else out of the way. The only other TDI fanfic I've read is Vesren's here on TV-dot-com. I'm desperately trying not to steal anything off that one. If I accidentally steal someone's character/challenge/idea, I'm sincerely sorry.
When I do start posting episodes, almost everything will be completely typed on Word. It takes a little longer, but it does have one upside. Completely regular updates. Unless I get abducted by aliens, I will never skip a week.
Notice that I said that almost all the episodes would be completed. I'm going to make two finales on that scriptwriting program, each with a different winner. As people comment on my episodes, I'll eventually pick one of them, type it on word, and make it the actual finale. In other words, the readers are going to choose who wins!
Thanks for making it through my long, boring introduction. I'll probably post as I hit major milestones, like the merge, or the first draft done. Just be patient. I've got everything to prove, nothing in my way. I'll get there one day!
