Shorter seasons or longer seasons? What's your opinion

I guess it t depends largely on the type of show you like. FX's The Shield was both powerful and entertaining but was short so the storyline's run fast giving you always a sense of impending doom. True Blood does that on HBO, before that was OZ on the 90's that run through 56 episodes in 6 seasons....does shows left us craving for more; but what about NBC's Heroes and Fox House M.D they're both great show however they seemed to "jump the shark" a little bit more often that we would like to (Gaining power and losing powers, Kutner's suicide) ....is not the writer's fault (even if they take the hits more than they should) but the excessive screen time and the big cast...trying to be true to everyone is just impossible.

I would really like your opinion on this matter.

Is is just me or final episodes have gotten a little better this year?

I've watched House and Grey's Anatomy last week and the last episodes were pretty damn good, I mean probably is because I got sick of re-runs but most of the shows have gone out in style....and not only the medical dramas, take for example Supernatural with a very nice twist ending, making us hungry (again we wait for the fall season)

One of the little things that we as consumers must thank the writers for the strike is that most of the shows need some refreshment on the concept, if there writing was not good enough to make a strong ending for a very short season you would be fired, simple as that....some shows were really hurt by the strike (take Las Vegas for example) but some of them gotten stronger reviews and better numbers (criminal minds)

It makes me wonder if this trend would go on with shows like lost, that really need some upgrading and witty writing... fast
