I tend not to discuss local news in this blog, mostly because 90% of my readers aren't from Chicago or the outlying suburbs, but there is something that has been dwelling on my mind:
We Downers Grove residents tend to associate the fourth weekend in June with Heritage Fest. Launched in 1982 to celebrate the town's sesquicentennial, Heritage Fest is a three-day party held on the streets of downtown Downers. To some degree, it's a miniature version of the Taste of Chicago; there's carnival rides, live music, and all sorts of delicious yet nutritionally-challenged cuisine. It's a cherished community event and a profitable one to boot, so I was quite shocked to learn that the village had cancelled Heritage Fest for 2010.
I first heard about the cancellation on Facebook about two weeks ago, thinking that this was some goofy rumor. Early last week, however the decision to skip Heritage Fest for a year --and maybe more-- became a reality. Apparently the village has a $4.5 million budget shortfall, and something had to give. (Yes, the population of DG is just under 49,000, but we're still considered a village for zoning purposes.) For a generation of Downers Grove residents who have expected Heritage Fest every June like a morning sunrise, it's as shocking as it is a sad indictator of the economy. As this article implies, the tourism that Hertiage Fest brought to Downers Grove and the sales tax revenue it generated will be deeply missed. The village council has left the door open to private sponsorship or even a fundraiser, though I'm doubtful that anyone will chip in the amount of money needed to keep the festival going.
In the end, losing Heritage Fest may not necessarily be the end of the world. The success of our festival inspired other towns in the western Chicago suburbs to launch their own hometown fiestas, or if they already had one, to at least up the ante. I guess driving two towns over for elephant ears will make do for a year, though it won't feel the same. Plus, it's not like this was the only event that the village council chose to cancel; our annual ice sculpture contest was benched for 2010, and the National Cycling Championships will also have to find a new home next year. Nevertheless, it's a depressing sign of the times when nobody can afford to have fun. Then again, maybe God is punishing the village for booking Foghat for the 2007 fest.
Next week: the year in music, 2009.
So, it's been since '06 since I've graced that halls of tv.com..........that's a long time. Don't really know why I'm back, or for long it'll be. But, I'm bored and I wanna look around a website for a while haha.
I dunno who all else is still around on this site, but hoping to see most of my old friends on here.
Quick Recap on Celebrity Big Brother which was actually a hijack version this year because of the racism controversy with Jade and Shilpa last year. I thought it was okay but it wasn't really full of drama of arguements which made me not as involved as past seasons of the British Big Brother. Typical winner, the nice nerdy guy.
Moving on to the Yanks' version which started a month and a half ago.
When I saw the pictures i thought it was going to be a complete bore, no one seemed out there and they all looked alike. Boy was I in for a shock. The partner twist bothered me, but I knew it was only a matter of time until they played singles. I started out like the james and joshua alliance. I was so happy when they won HoH in week 2. But after Josh's assault on ALison and cockiness. I switched sides once again.
Now that Matt and Chelsia have been evicted. Natalie has a chance to get rid of James. Which I'm really happy about. Worst Case Scenario, James wins POV and its sharon vs joshua. with josh leaving.

I've Never seen Lost before but I plan to start watching it this week! (Mostly because I want to be involved in the Lost Chat.) Anyways I've watched the 8 minute & 15 second recap that ABC released. That was helpful. (That woman talked SO fast it wasn't funny.) I've also been reading helpful episode summaries. (That aren't being read at mach 5 speed.) Also the 2 hour season 3 finale (Through the Look Glass) is repeating on wed. this week (with helpful little words at the bottom to help new viewers.) Then on thursday it's the season 4 premiere. Followed by the tv.com chat on Friday.
In Other News I'm having incredible troubles uploading my Felicia Tilman Icon. I really want it to be upload. (UGG!)
Life Stuff
Wanna hear a funny story? The kid who broke my wrist (he knocked me over during a soccer game, and I caught my fall wrong), busted open one of my best friend's bottom lip (I totally made fun of him for it). It's ironic, really. The kid who broke my wrist is also friends with the kid who's lip got busted open. We are somewhat friends, but we kind of hate each other, it's a wierd relationship, lol.
My science class is officially cursed! In my row, three out of four people have injured themselves. I was the first person to do it, breaking my wrist. The girl who sits next to me, Sarah, pulled her muscle. The girl who sits next to Sarah, Christa, sprained her ankle hours after Sarah pulled her muscle. There is one person left in our row: Harris. I really do feel bad for the kid, because he is next.
Pearls Before Swine
A little known secret about me is that I'm in love with comic strips. I ADORE Pickles, Marvin and Pearls Before Swine. Pearls recently ran a series that was sad, tragic and yet inspiring. It's funny, because Pearls is usually one of the more dark strips. I wanted to post this series, so I will!

Here is one that isn't in the love story that involves the father/son relationship. This one hits close to home, imo:

TV.com profile
Don't you just hate it when you submit a boatload of stuff, and TV.com doesn't help you level up at ALL? This has been happening to me quite a lot recently. I get these random level ups (Holy Cow, Batman!), and finally have reached Level 10. I would like to be at level 12 by the end of this month, haha. I have recently been contributing to a show guide, however the Contribution Points haven't been updated, so I don't know how many points I currently have on it. This is so frustrating, lmao!
Jonny Fairplay
I got my first editorship in a while. His name is Jond Dalton, but most Survivor fans know him by Jonny Fairplay. He is one of my least favorite Survivors, just because he lied, schemed and ousted my favorites of the season, Christa and Rupert. But, his Grandma stunt was FABULOUS!

LOST
I ended up getting LOST season 1. The first episode was okay, but not perfect. The second was far superior, imo. I dislike Locke for being so . . . child molesterlike to Walt. He is creepy, to say the least. I will be reviewing 2 episodes of LOST for my next 11 blogs, so pay attention and adore their glroyness!
Pilot (1)
Pilot (1) was actually pretty . . . boring. The ending was phenomonal, and the episode really started to pick up the pace right around the plane scene. I found my mind begin to wander, and it really was pretty hard to pay attention.
Pilot (2)
The second episode of LOST was WAAAAAAAAY better than the first. It developed characters such as Charlie, Shannon, and we get to know Locke, who is really creepy. Boone is a bit much, and Jack's voice is annoying. I think that Superwoman can't even tough Kate, lol.
Top 5 LOST Characters (in chronological order)
Shannon, Hurley, Sayid, Kate, Jack
TV Character of the Blog #2

Roseanne has got to be one of my favorite Television mothers. I've never seen someone mentally abusive yet loving at the same time. She always has a beautiful smile across her face, and just gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. With that being said, I'm not to fond of her as a person ![]()
Just a side note, NO LOST SPOILERS!!! Until next time . . .
Exercise, kids.
If your reading this comment me =)
When have you been back since?? We need to do some catching up!!
atriple3threat: I'd like to call this nomination ceremony to order. Know that this is just a game and noone should take this serioulsy.
First Key.... Beel, I mean dogzrul 123
Final Key.... Amauriel
That means I have nominated Deon5000 and jeanluclover for eviction....
USD will be going on at the same time. Dogz talking is kind of like a voice over.
Dogzrul123: At first I was like, "YES!"
triple3threat: Deon, you are a HUGE threat to this game. You win too much and we can't have someone win two games in a row!
Dogzrul123: Then I thought this is too good to be true. When I saw Deon's ear-to-ear smile, I knew something was wrong. We all did. This wasn't good!
triple3threat: I've also nominated jeanluclover. You are a treat as well. You have too many connections and are too well liked.
Dogzrul123: Then Beel asked a question.
Beel4056: Will everyone with safeguards please stand up?
Dogzrul123: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
*Amauriel and Deon5000*
Beel4056: That means that dogzrul123 automatically takes the nomination. The only way amauriel or Deon can be nominated is by a replacement for a veto nominee.
DAY 44
USD
Deon5000: I need tomorrow's veto! This is crucial. Otherwise, I go home.
amauriel: I wonder if I would've been nomninated if it weren't for the luxury shop.
triple3threat: DANG!
jeanluclover: Well I'm nominated and Deon's safe. If this veto is won by Deon, I think it will be me.
Who will won the Power of Veto? Will it be used? Find out on Episode 26!
Although the season didn't play out exactly like I predicted (and thank God for that), Erika did manage to make it to the F2, and she has a realistic shot of winning the game and thus ruining the credibility of Big Brother.
I hope Boogie wins on Tuesday so that we can at least feel good that Dr. Will ultimately ruled the game, even if he himself didn't realize the goal of winning again.
Well Im a level 3 Soup Nazi. It took me a while cause I only post on the forums but now I have a new responsisbility. I can now make polls. Its only one a day but still Im happy. Well the BB Rpg should get started soon. Well Ill see yall. Peace. Im white.
I haven't been able to post or do pretty much anything on this site in over a month.
So as of this point, I am officially done with this place.
I'm glad I'll still see my many of my friends from here on other sites, TVNAIE, Hfrog's board, etc.
Thank you tv.com for killing tvtome, I hope all of cnet rots in hell.
That's all, goodbye.
And now for Part 2!
---------------------------------------------------------------
Bart: Well, can I go see the movie?
Homer: I know my punishment's harsh, but I can't back down on it. You're welcome to watch whatever you want on TV.
Bart: TV sucks.
Homer: I know you're upset right now, so I'll pretend you didn't say that.
-The Simpsons
Well after a lot of great finales I am left with summer shows, reruns, and DVD's. But that isn't all that bad. It's nice to go back and rewatch some favorites and get into other shows that I missed out on.
On DVD I am going to watch/rewatch Smallville 3, all of Nip/Tuck finally for the first time, Lost 1, Veronica Mars 1, and Grey's 1.
With reruns I have gotten into Supernatural and also what I missed of One Tree Hill 3.
My find of the summer though is Entourage. I discovered that we had season 2 on demand and so I quickly got into it and have progressed all the way to the season 3 premiere. We get the new episodes immediately on demand so it is really easy to keep up since I am gone a lot in the summer. I had never gotten into an HBO show because we just recently got it.
The most important part of summer though is Big Brother. And this year should be the best with All Stars. I am so excited it is ridiculous. I hope to see Janelle, James, Howie, Diane, Alison, Dr. Will and many others back in the house.
In my honest opinion Survivor keeps getting better. The two seasons that aired during 2005/2006 (Guatemala & Panama:Exile Island), have been really good, and if we add Palau, Survivor has aired 3 very good seasons in a row. Many people say that this theme where you drop 16/18 Americans on a deserted part of the world and watch them outplay/outwit/outlast everybody for $1m is growing old. However, the fans of Survivor feel that this show is better every season and it's not by luck that it has been renewed through it's 14th edition.
The Amazing Race
Even though I am a die hard Amazing Race fan I have to say that the last 2 seasons have been the worst of the 9. Season 8 was the family edition which was by far the worst season in Amazing Race history. Season 9 is better but is still below average. I just hope season 10 will see The Amazing Race return to it's roots and be the best reality show once again.
I have been away for like a LOOOOOOONNNG time because of computer problems and it stunk. So about 2 weeks ago we got a new computer so it works now. I have been on TV NAIE and its really cool. I would consider checking it out. Its fun too.
Hi everyone. I guess Ill check back here once in a while but consider going over to NAIE... its really fun!
Love Always,
Molly
