If the camera adds ten pounds, the hi-def camera adds ten years.
Long time no blog. I admit I've been pouring most of my online energy playing slot machine and virtual pet games, but it's been a lot of fun connecting with my old buddies and meeting some new folks to swap virtual toys. Looking back at my old blogs here, I sure do miss writing about television and chatting here.

I remember some years ago, they had played the Star Wars Episode 2 movie on one of the first digital projector runs in the country. I remarked to my buddy that we were so close to the screen, that you could see the pixel lines. He then moved back a bunch of rows to watch the rest of the movie.

Fast forward to this year, where we finally went and gone hi-def with a new console. I found it interesting that the 37-inch ones cost as much as the 40-inch ones, as it's considered an unusual size, but the 37 is good for our furniture limitations. The weight is much lighter than the old CRTs, and it's supposedly Energy Star, although I feel like it's a bigger heater than the old one. My dad convinced us to get the 1080p option, which I hear isn't necessary for that size but still nice to have.

After bumping up the cable bill again, I finally got to enjoy hi-def service, and wow, so here's what I've been missing the past few years:

The most impressive show so far is CSI: Miami. They had some outdoor scene and it felt like I was there. The vibrant colors and hi-tech lab stuff were a nice touch, and doesn't have as much Dark and Gloomy like the other CSIs.

The local newscasters' coffee mugs on their anchor desk. One of them has both a Starbucks cup of the day AND a mug, like, what, you can't have just one? Or maybe it has some water or some secret teeth whitener?

Crazy detail on the sports channels. Can't wait for the bowl games, sports playoffs, and Olympics. Too bad there aren't that many teams I care about.

Catching part of the Lord of the Rings weekend makes me want to get a Blu-ray ASAP. Of course that means more upgrading, so maybe not. Celtic Women on the PBS promos looked pretty darn good too.

Meredith Vieira's makeup job during closeups on The Today Show. I knew coming in that Jay Leno puts on a lot of makeup, but at that hi-def resolution, you can see any of that clearly, and wrinkles. Julianne Moore's hair looked great on all her guest spots on the talk shows, but I feel for the regular people on the news that don't have the opportunity to be made up like that. There was one part recently where the detail was so good you could read Meredith's news card. But the people are still crowded up in the center of the screen when it comes to positioning people in those shows; guess they don't want to lose the cable-clinging standard def crowd.

House decorating makeover shows. Looks good for Clean House to get more messiness on the screen, but when the extra space is just used to show more wall space of a hallway or a tiny bedroom, I feel rather sad about wanting to buy a place.

CN HD and Disney XD HD is a waste. Some shows took advantage of the extra space, but what's the point of putting Phineas and Ferb or any cartoon where I could draw outlines of the characters myself?

In the anime world, which isn't hi-def yet, I've been watching The Wallflower, which is quite funny given the number of folks I know who love all that New Moon stuff. I also got to see some of One Piece without the 4Kids editing, and there are plenty of others in the queue for the rest of the year.

Needless to say this has increased my television watching dramatically. I found myself watching the series finale episodes of Monk, more CSIs this month than the rest of this past year, and even that AMC remake of The Prisoner, which features Jesus and Gandalf stuck in some town trying to mess with each other, and more WTF moments than Lost. Fear big white balls and mysterious holes.

Question: What shows do you enjoy on hi-def or movies that you would automatically upgrade in your collections?

Angering the Snow Gods
Last week on Monday (11/30) we in northern michigan saw the first significant snow of the year, 3 inches. However, by Tuesday afternoon, it had all melted. I had joked on my facebook and twitter that winter should make up its mind... and it did.

When the snow began falling on wednesday night, it didn't stop until early Sunday morning (If you're not familiar with lake-effect snow, its a doozy). 18 inches total. We thought the worst was over. Now we are on the cusp of another winter storm warning that will last into thursday, where another 18 is expected in some areas.

I'll never taunt winter again.

Story Of A Coward
I had recently come back to check on my editorships and noticed where, after being gone for only 3 days, I was reported MIA on a person guide by someone with obviously nothing better to do with their time. This person was a Level 3 with only 15 submissions, 5 of them rejected. I checked my mod queue and found where they had written a couple which I proceeded to verify and credit the whiner for. Now I find an e-mail telling me I have been retired from that editorship DESPITE checking on it on a regular basis. No wonder I grew tired of this site some time ago, having dealt with surly staff members and flamers on the boards; now it's come to penny-ante retaliations by jealous lower level children. What kind of pay-off do we get from this site, any way, other than more work than it's worth?

Who Hates When People Type Like This? (wanting opinions)
Ok the title might be influential but my cousin types in comments on youtube and that starting every word with a capital letter. I said to her how people (like me) find that annoying. Then she saw I have a sig and tried to compare them saying that if starting every word with a capital letter is annoying so should having a sig on forums be equally annoying. anyone have any opinions agreeing or disagreeing with this?

Old Days

It's weird.

I don't know why I'm blogging about it.

But I miss when I was active in TV.com.

Like, a new blog each week, a few probably.

A couple of editorships every week or fortnight

Tracking people, haven't done that in ages.

Being apart of a few forums.

Commenting on people's blogs.

And, the most important one, knowing a lot of the more active people on here.

Now, I only know a few people.

It kinda sucks to not be as involved in the site like I used to be

Anyone else want to be more active in the site again?

Sadness and Death of Late

Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, and Karl Malden...Wow, how sad, how close, how soon. We have lost so many so soon, so recently. It really causes one's head to spin. I find myself saying, How sad, when up pops another one. It just goes to show how very precious life is and how nothing is promised so we do have to make the most of each day. My heart and Prayers go out to the loved ones of each of the persons whom have named and I hope that each of them has gone on to a better place.

Ninja Warrior 22 this Sunday
The G4 cable channel is airing all of the previous Ninja Warrior tournaments this weekend. The episodes will air all day today, Saturday and Sunday. Then on Sunday evening at 5:30 pm ET, "American Ninja Challenge 4" will air. That hour-long special will cover the latest competition among G4's viewers to get a chance to compete in the main Ninja Warrior (Sasuke, in the original Japanese) tournament. Then the channel will premiere the 22nd tournament of Ninja Warrior/Sasuke in the U.S. The tournament will be broken up into five half-hour episodes. A recap episode will follow later that night.

I wrote about Ninja Warrior a few weeks ago. It's a demanding obstacle course that requires a great deal of agility, body control and upper-body bodyweight strength. Many of the 100 contestants are primarily there for entertainment purposes but the top competitors are incredibly fit athletes. In previous tournaments, elite athletes from around the world have competed too, including Olympic medalists from the U.S. in gymnastics and wrestling. Gold-medal gymnast Paul Hamm was among the most well-known of these competitors.

The recent hit, "Wipeout", is largely inspired by Ninja Warrior but it's missing some of the key elements of Ninja Warrior. In Ninja Warrior, if you fall off an obstacle, you are out of the tournament. The live crowd gives the competition a better atmosphere. And there is a growing history and tradition with Ninja Warrior, as well as a worldwide fanbase, including the U.S., the UK and Latin America as well as Japan and East Asia.

For some examples of the toughest obstacles, run an Internet search for "ninja warrior salmon ladder", "ninja warrior body prop", "ninja warrior devil steps" and so on. Or just watch the episodes this weekend.

***

By the way, I ran 5.15 miles on National Running Day a couple weeks ago. I hope everyone else was able to do something to help improve their fitness.

Thanks, that was fun.

Well, it's that time. I clocked out of the site long ago, when the format changed the community just seemed to crumble with it. I still have many of you on Facebook, and hope to keep in touch with you all - and I will probably visit from time to time, but I will no longer be actively posting or blogging. I will also slowly be retiring from my editorialships. So long guys, thanks for all the great memories! I'll leave you with a song:

For You

I have set aside everything I love.
I have saved everything else for you.
I cannot decide what this doubt's made of.
Though I thought over it through and through.

In a book in a box high upon a shelf.
In a locked and guarded vault.
Are the things I keep only for myself.
It's your fate but it's not your fault.

And for every useless reason I know,
There's a reason not to care.
If I hide myself wherever I go,
Am I ever really there?

There is nowhere else I would rather be,
but I can't just be right here.
An enigma wrapped in a mystery,
or a fool consumed by fear.

And for every useless reason I know,
There's a reason not to care.
If I hide myself wherever I go,
Am I ever really there?

I will give you all I could ever give,
Though it's less than you will need.
Could you just forget, if you can't forgive,
All the things I cannot concede.

And for every useless reason I know,
There's a reason not to care.
If I hide myself wherever I go,
Am I ever really there?

Goodbye and Hello

There are two stories that will come into play in this blog (my final one, I promise.) The first ist the story you are thinking of right now. The other is the story I am about to tell.

In the time before man (I'm using evolution as it fits my purposes better)...In the time before man there were other creatures, specifically fish. One of these fish is called Ralph. Ralph was living in a very big ocean. Swimming in the seas he liked and having a good time with all his fishy friends (yes, we're all fish, get over it.)

The seas that Ralph like to swim in started getting rough. He decided not to swim so near the top. He swam lower because he didn't know what to do. He kept on his fish friends. He watched as some of those above him disappeared. He felt sadness, but could not abide the rough waters.

He tried, of course, but swimming in the rough waters was not the same. Then they got rougher still Ralph was so disheartened. He was sad and he was angry. He was ready to close his gills and sink to the bottom of the ocean.

He cried out to his friends that was what he was going to do. And his friends, as true fish friends would, his friends begged him not to go and reminded him of what he was leaving behind. Fish can cry.

Ralph started thinking about some of his fish friends who had "disappeared." In testing the new rougher waters he noticed them...standing on a shoreline not too far away. He heard them calling out to him. He saw that they had grown legs...

...and he noticed that he had legs too.

So Ralph the fish walked from the waters...and decided to find a new home.

http://localcolloqualisms.blogspot.com/

You'll have to cut and paste to get there. Give me a little time to get set-up and running, but at least for the next five weeks that will be my new blog home.

I mentioned two stories. The one I told...and the one you were thinking about. You were thinking about the boy who cried wolf...you were, weren't you?

In closing, I really appreciate the things that were said here and in other blogs and comments on other blogs. That is what really pushed me to finding a new home. I invite you all to visit me there, and I will continue to look for you, my friends in other places. You mean something to me.

And... if you wanted to drop me a line, you know my name Ralphellis which is @ a Good place to send mail.com . (put the orange bits together.)

Thank you all.

So, The last blog was Hello to a new year, and goodby to here. This is goodbye to hear and hello to somewhere else. We'll make it through, I promise.

See you on the other side.

RIP Pushing Daisies

I can't believe the news today... ABC cancels Pushing Daisies

Well, my day is just ruined! Might as well crawl back in the bed! Okay, maybe not. The cancellation of Pushing Daisies doesn't comes as a HUGE shock, considering all of the reports here and on other websites about how bad the ratings where. This was my main concern with the show last year. Pushing Daisies is a complete 180 from what is on TV these days. And while we Americans might vote for a canidate who seems to love the word change, we don't like change when it comes to our entertainment. I guess in the end the change that Pushing Daisies offered wasn't what people were looking for or liked.

According to the article Bryan Fuller is trying to negotiate with DC to print comics that would tie up the storylines, becuase apperantely the season ends on a cliffhanger. I don't read comics and it might be leaping into a whole new sphere of geekdom, I would buy those just to see how the Piemaker and Chuck end up.

The article also mentions that ABC has cancelled Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money. I was never a fan of Eli Stone. I did watch the pilot, however that was becuase I like George Micaheal's song, "Faith". Dirty Sexy Money was a show I tried to get into last year and this year, but with its huge cast and coming in late, it was hard to understand everyone's history and what they currently where doing.

Thundercats Clean-up

To any who read this, please note that as of November 4, 2008 I have started to re-watch all the Thundercats episodes. My intent is to update all summaries, clean-up all the notes and trivia, and fix up the cast lists.

I have been getting many submissions since I became editor of this guide, with items that don't make sense. Much of that is due to the sorry state of repair that this guide is in. While I welcome your submissions while I go through the episodes (there are a ton at 130 after all), please note that I will try to keep the rejection / acceptance of everything consistent going forward.

I will be trying, where time permits, to write recaps as well. If you are willing to write a recap (it takes me roughly 1 hour, plus viewing time) then refer to the first episode's recap as what it should look like.

Trust in my self righteous suicide! Part 60! Series Finale!

But I had no time to even think about that. At the start of the year, I was a regular bloke. One day while working at the weapon store, I was shot in the arm by a gun I'd never seen before. The bullet was removed but somehow I started having visions, and having weird impulses to stop them from happening.

Things only got weirder when my visions took me to Sweden, where I met my new sidekick, Kemp, and together we unravelled a conspiracy that all of my visions were linked to the evil doings of a secret Society bent on destroying the world. Then things got way too absurd when trying to escape the clutches of some evil henchmen, I turned into a hawk and found out that I was an umption, which is an odd word for shapeshifter.

Then the pivotal thing happened. I was tracked down by a new Society member named Newbie and shot point blank in the head. Fortunately, he didn't realise this gun didn't fire bullets. Unfortunately, it wiped out my memory.

When I awoke in an odd place with no memory at all, of who I was, where I was from or what I had for breakfast the day before, I was confused to say the least. Being an amnesiac for an entire season (Spring) was odd, but I still managed to get sucked into inadvertently get sucked into fighting the Society. I met leprechauns, witches, and umptions (when I didn't realise I myself was one too), and me, my sister Alana, who I may or may not have bedded with when I didn't know who she was, and Kemp found out that the Society's main goal was to find the Holy Pail, which had powers beyond reason or logic. So we figured we may as well get to it first. This was easier said than done when Mac, a witch and a lover, was being held captive by Stikky, who turned out to be not only the leader of the Society, but also my father, and Mac's ex-husband and Society supervisor, Alex was tracking down the pail with help from martial arts specialist and umption, Brain. We all found the giant Pail at about the same time and ended up at a Mexican standoff in Sweden. We all battled, and there were a few casualties, including Mac, who accidentally faked her death. More importantly, the Pail revived my memory, and I remembered all about me, that I was Micky Clarke, and my plans.

Unfortunately, when I snapped out of it, I learned that the Society had succeeded in getting the Pail, so we formed a Rebellion to fight the Society, only to learn of a greater threat - I had an evil twin named Jimbo that wants to destroy the world. Naturally this was a downer, so we trained at the House of the Rising Sun until it was destroyed, and then we found a new base at the Rebellion doctor, Olive Cox (or Doc's) apartment, until it was destroyed, and then we settled for an abandoned warehouse until three of our comrades' heads were delivered, which was when we moved the base to the Dove Shack, which was a shoddy cubby house from my childhood. Speaking of the Dove, our inventor, who has passed on since, created the Dove, a silver device that you shove in your neck to become super strong and beat people up.

When Jimbo kidnapped Alana, I vowed to get my sister back, and when I had a vision that showed the end of the world, I figured Jimbo was behind it. So at the end of this disastrous, stressful year, on New Year's Eve at 11:59pm, I was stuck in a room with Jimbo, who had just killed Stikky (which honestly is one less thing I have to worry about), but he and the Society had killed all of our team members, except Doc, Mac and Kemp, who had a dagger with which to stab Jimbo. When I found out that the Holy Pail was going to destroy the world, and in a few seconds at that, I put in the Dove, threw Jimbo against the wall, and at the last second charged into the Pail with so much force that I was either going to blow up (which would have happened if I'd stayed in the room anyway) or that I had prevented the explosion and saved the world.

Now that 2008 is finally over, hopefully 2009 will be a little better. Unfortunately, I'm still in the middle of crashing through the Pail at light speed so I dunno what's going to happen.

***

"Huh?" I opened my eyes and found myself in a weird enclosure.

"He's awake!" Kemp cheered, and Doc, Mac and Alana gathered around me.

"Dude, you were awesome" Mac said. "You destroyed the Pail and caused it to implode on itself. It's crazy you weren't hurt"

"I saved the world too" Kemp bragged. "I stabbed Jimbo a dozen times while he was unconscious. He won't be bothering us anymore.

"And I burned down the Society mansion for funsies" Doc shrugged.

"I did my part" Mac said. "I found Alana, and got her memory back with a spell that I wrote myself"

"How did it end up working then?" Alana grinned.

"So the Society's completely diminished, Jimbo's gone and the world is finally safe" Kemp recapped. "How are you feeling, Micky?"

"Who's Micky?" I asked. "Who the hell are you guys, and why are you wearing nametags?"

"Oh, not again" Alana groaned.

"And that's what's called a full circle" Mac rolled her eyes.

"Huh?" I repeated. I had no memory of who I was or what my history was, and why all these crazy people were talking about being vigilantes like it was cool. This was going to be a confusing year.

And thus ends the Micky saga. We laughed, we cried, we cut off sentences in the middle of a concluding rant about the longest blog series in the

Doctor Who and a whole new realm

Greetings friends!

It has been quite some time since my last post. Not to worry though, i've been keeping up to date with all my favourite shows. And I've been adding a few new ones to the list. For starters, I finally swallowed my pride and started watching Stargate Atlantis. I was able to grit my teeth and bear the first season out. And I'm glad I did, because from Season 2 onwards it became quite good. It will never measure up to SG-1 of course, but then I never expected it to so all's well.

In addition, as you may be able to tell from the title of this blog, I've begun to watch Doctor Who. Strangely enough, even though I love my sci-fi, I had never actually seen an episode of the show until about 2 weeks ago, when I was randomly flicking through the network channels on tv at about 11:30 at night, and I stumbled upon a recent episode. Needless to say, I enjoyed it a lot and so proceeded to track down the previous seasons. I'm currently half way through season 2. Oh, and i'm referring to the recent 2005 show.

In other news, today is my last day of winter break. Yes, it's winter right now for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere. Back to uni tomorrow. I'm not really looking forward to resuming my studies but on the other hand, I am getting very bored at home.

Anyway, that's news from me for now. Hopefully, I'll keep up the effort and resume blogging on a regular basis, but given my track record, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Not that you were anyway. LOL. Hope all my friends on this site are doing well.

Until next time...

Just dipped my little toe over the 2000 contribution mark and got my very own little Kill Bill 'Master of Contributions' merit badge. Very shiny.

Of course the next landmark is 5K contributions, so that might take a while

Holy Heck, She's Back!/New Editorship/New TU!

First off, let me start by saying...WOW. I haven't blogged in literally a year. My last blog said that I was 13 and in the 8th grade, lol! I'm a freshman in High School now and I'm 14 now, so yeah, it's definitely been a long time. So today's the 20th of December 2007, and Christmas is in five days! Wow, I feel like the school year has flown by. I feel like it was just Halloween yesterday! Anyways, I can't believe I haven't blogged in a year...I've been on as much as I can, but nowhere near as much I used to be. I try to get one once a week, if not however, I'm one at least once every two weeks. But what I really want to say is... WHAT'S UP EVERYONE!? I miss all my friends over here at TV.com and one question that's been on my mind is...Do I still have the most forum posts on the whole site? Lol!

Well, onto my first announcement in this blog. I've got a new editorship! I just realized that when I did get this editorship, that there is already a profile for the same person. I was slightly confused, because there is already an editor for the other profile of this person. But what the hey, I still got the editorship! Ladies and Gentlemen...drumroll please!

*drum rolls across the floor*

*cough*

Right...uh...well my editorship is for the lovely... Olesya Rulin! She is very well known for playing Kelsi Nielsen, aka the "playmaker" in High School Musical and High School Musical 2. She's beautiful and is a talented actress who also starred in the film Major Movie Star along with the one and only, Jessica Simpson! Here's a gorgeous picture of her!

So I'm really happy about that even though I'm the editor of the second profile for her, lol! Now, onto my second announcement...I am now a new Trusted User for a gorgeous boy! He's not very well known because he only has a small role on a short Disney Channel show, but he is a very talented actor! Not only that, he has an AMAZING voice and he writes his own lyrics for the songs he sings. You can currently find him playing Danny on As The Bell Rings. Here he is, the wonderful, gorgeous, Tony Oller!

Isn't he just AMAZINGLY gorgeous?! He sounds really sweet too! You can friend him on his Myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/tonyollermusic

You might notice that I color-coordinated this blog to be Christmasy, and you're right, I did, lol! I'm just so excited for Christmas this year. I have a Wii on my list, and I probably won't get it because it's sold out EVERYWHERE! But I also have a bunch of giftcards to Target, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Juicy Couture and places like that. That's pretty much all that's on my list really, but I'm just excited to be out of school for a couple weeks!

What's on everybody's Christmas List? And before I forget, Happy Holidays! Also, just thought I'd give a little update on my book that I've been writing...it's now fifty-two pages and definitely a lot more edited and improved since the last time I blogged! Once again everyone, Happy Holidays! Didn't hear me? Well...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I'll be talking to all of y'all after break I suppose, but if you see me around some of the forums or just wanna chat, send me a message! I miss y'all!

xoxo

Kelly

Oh, just to make this blog a LOT hotter since it is Winter and cold this season...

Zac Efron

Can he get any hotter?! I love you Zaccy! Merry Christmas y'all, and All I want for Christmas is...Zac!! Haha!
