May Be a Bit Scarce

Hi!

Sorry if this is badly formatted, I'm using my phone. My computer has gone screwy so I need to use the internet on my phone. So, if I'm not on much, it's just because I don't want to use my crappy phone internet. I got a job too, so I probably be away because of that too. So, after 8 months of job searching, I got one. Yay.

See ya sometime

-Alex-

BTW, read my last blog if you haven't.

Blog Level: Kinda Really Important

FIRSTLY, no one is making you read this blog. But, as far as blogs go, this is my most important.

Hi.

Looking at my blog count, this is my 133rd blog ever. That is means that it is 132 times before this I have complained to you. 132 times I have included you in the reality that is mine. 132 times I entertained you or bored you to tears. And, most importantly, 132 times more than one person has cared what has been up with me. The only difference in this blog is, I will tell you a bit about my history on the site and also have focus on you.

I joined this site in 2005, not so long after TV Tome become TV.com. I joined the site because the previous year was a good year for TV. I had to go somewhere to talk about it. I found everything quite uninteresting. After a few more months of good TV, I came back to the site. By this time, my favourite TV shows were Family Guy, The OC, Friends, Desperate Housewives and Lost.

TV.com (or tvDOT as Isie and I refer to it as) has been like another life for me. New "parents", new friends and I always kept that feeling that I was growing up.

I have been a contributor to many forums since joining. I was a regular in the Friends, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, LOST and Nip/Tuck forums. But the two that have had the biggest effect on me is The OC board and the Buffy forum.

The OC forum was what got me hooked on tvDOT. I met some of my best tvDOT friends on there and it always felt like somewhere I could go for some fun. It was Kaitlyn (armybratkl), Anita (kandy-kisses), Rob and Dammit_Voyeur. Armaan (Glaceo) often appeared on the forums, which was how I met him but more on that later.

And even though I have only been on the Buffy forum for a short time, I know I will stay on it for ages. Mainly because of the LPW. I may not know some of them well enough but Isa, Alex, Janie, Bufangel, tvfan332 and more are all so funny and friendly.

I'm not going to thank everyone, but, the six people who have been the biggest inspiration and the best friends to me on here are as followed:

  • Armaan (Glaceo) - Armaan is the most creative guy I know. His stories are fantastic and his blogs are always beyond enjoyable. I met Armaan on The OC forums. We didn't agree about Marissa, but that was about all we didn't have a common opinion on. When I met him, I was friends with all kinds of people but what made it good to have Armaan was to have a guy around my age to talk to. And, now that I do have some more friends on here like that, I don't need them coz Armaan is the best
  • Isie (MuteTroubadour) - A life without Glitter Slayers would be terrible. That's why it would hard not to have Isie there by my side. Isie, a girl close to my age, is perfection. I don't have anyone on here that I could have a riveting conversation with, but at the same time, be a complete spastic around. The only way to end this sentence is: Glitta Slayas 4 Lyf
  • Olivia (crazyboutdemons) - Unlike anyone else on this site, I NEED Olivia. She is the only person I feel I can tell ANYTHING to. For us, we don't judge. We give advice, we vent, we comfort and we never look down on each other. I don't think I would be the same person if I'd never met Olivia.
  • Amy (lozza) - Amy is like an older sister. She is so protective, unbelievably smart, easy to talk to, a great confidante and so loving/nurturing. Sometimes I feel so lost without her. It helps knowing she is there and I can talk to her. She is like an inspiration to me, and for that I'm grateful. She is going to make a kick-ass mother one day.
  • Joey (NoahCrash) - Joey has recently celebrated his two-year anniversary. Instead of saying congrats, I'm gonna say 'thank you'. Thank you for being one of my first friends. Thanks for sticking around. Thanks for being hilarious. Thanks for being friendly. Thanks for being so friendly. Thanks for (kinda) introducing me to Buffy. But most of all, thank you for being a great friend.
  • [The late] Drea (hoffman) - I mentioned previously that I thought TV.com was like life. You find people who are almost as if they were parents. Drea was one of them. If she was my mother, I would have been the happiest kid ever. She always had your back. She was a endless pit of hilarity. And, when she died, TV.com died a little. She always kept people happy. Her blog was like Disneyland, you always had a big smile and you hated having to leave. Drea, TV.com misses you. No matter how old they are, everyone is missing their online mother.
  • [The late] Sharky (lone_shark) - So, many of you are probably thinking I am putting Sharky in here because he died. Well that is part of the reason. Not through pity of him dying, but through what his death meant to me. He was only a few years older than me. He was almost like a big brother. He always was nice, funny and someone you can look up to. He died when he was in his teen years. When he did pass away, I found it really hard not to leave tvDOT but I resisited temptation after I found another way of looking at his death. Sharky lived his life. He never stopped trying his hardest to enjoy life, which made his death a bit more peaceful. It was almost as if he knew he would die and he had one of those lists people make of all the things they wish to achieve . I'll miss you Sharky and, if there is an afterlife, I hope you are partying with Kurt Cobain - that'd make you eternally happy.

And, that is just a few of them. Others should get a mention, but then I'd leave people out.

I think the purpose of this blog is to say thanks to all for being great friends. I've done a lot since being on tvDOT. Whether it be my ill-fated attempt to list all of my friends and write nice things about all of them. Or my petition to remember Drea somehow through a petition, although that didn't ever come to fruition. Or my run in several ORG's (online reality game, not orgy ). Or even the boring summer that culminated in me gaining more than 50 editorships within a few weeks.

I suppose I'm saying thank you ,

-Alex-

EDIT: This isn't a farewell blog. I reread it and it does sond like one, but I'll always stay here and I was just looking to thank those who are the motivating force in me wanting to stay forever.

I HATE Shopping..... But Buying Things Ain't Half Bad

Hey.

Went to visit my sis yesterday. That meant shopping for most of the day. Eugghh, I hate shopping! But I bought a few things. I bought:

  • Serenity (fina-FREAKIN--lly) - I watched it last night. I loved it. It was so good.
  • Dead Like Me (Season 1) - Really enjoying this. I had never seen it but have heard from many that it is awesome. I find it really funny but interesting at the same time.
  • Buffy (Season 1) - With the purchase of this and Serenity, I know own ALL Joss Whedon creations that are available on DVD .
  • Las Vegas (Season 3) - I really do love this show but I wanted to get the first season. But I didn't get time and I just picked up season 3 as it was the only one I could find.
  • Portal Through Time -A Buffy novel. It was $4.50...... I couldn't resist.

And last week, I bought:

  • The X Files (Season One) - I like it. Seeing as though it was made the year I was born, the special effects are pretty darn impressive. I look forward to watching more.
  • The West Wing (Season One) - Haven't watched this yet. I saw the first few eps of The West Wing, liked them but lost track of the episodes. I decided to buy the first season to watch it all.... and also to get Isie to stop hassling me .

So, because I've been watching DVD's lately, I haven't watched much TV (actual TV, not TV shows). I taped the first episode of Blood Ties and The Best Years the other day. Haven't watched Blood Ties yet, but The Best Years is good. I'll definitely watch it next week.

So, there ain't much incentive to comment, huh? Well, I'll ask a question. What TV show do you own every season of? And/or, what TV show do you want to come to DVD.

-Alex-

P.S. Answering my own questions:

  1. I own every season of Firefly , Buff, Angel and The OC.
  2. I want Daria to come to DVD. And, I'm waiting for Gossip Girl to get to DVD.

A Non-Spoiler Review Of The Dark Knight

Hi.

So, yesterday, I gave up the chance to go to the football to go see The Dark Knight. Now, I was expecting the film to be a let-down because I've been debating whether critics were applauding it because Heath Ledger died. But I was wrong. Jack Nicholson had been my favourite Joker ever, but with the Joker has always been some camp. In Batman (with Nicholson as The Joker), The Joker was more camp then creepy. In The Dark Knight, Ledger did such a good job as The Joker, I found it too be more creepy than camp (which, I found absolutely fantastic). I found some plot twists to be quite surprising and some were left very open. I loved the film but the downsides of making a film that great do result in a few odd plotholes and I definitely did not like the fact it ran for 2 hours, 30 mins. It was too long and the plot was slightly inconsistent with the time, going too slow, then too fast. Now saying the parts I did really enjoy, The Joker (and the "surprising" other villian) were perfect villians. I don't know what Nolan was smoking when he put the Scarecrow as the villian in the first film. I mean, Cillian Murphy is great but the Scarecrow? Please, I would've preferred The Riddler or Poison Ivy, they would've made it more interesting. The actors/actresses were great. Heath Ledger was extraordinary, so was Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart and Michael Caine. As for Maggie Gyllenhaal, I'm glad they got someone that looked and acted so similar to Katie Holmes that you could barely notice the difference. Apart from Ledger, the best actor in the film would have to be Morgan Freeman, despite him (probably) having the least screen time out of all the main cast. I won't givemy favourite/least favourtie parts as it probably would spoil this great film.

I would give the movie around about a 9.5/10. Which, is hard because I could easily rate it as a 10. It was so great, with just a few little things that held it back.

The next movie I aim to see is The X Files: I Want To Believe. It comes out on Thursday.

I also bought Gilmore Girls (season 5) on DVD with some birthday money. My teacher and I have a deal that if I watch Gilmore Girls, she'll watch Buffy. I watched a few episodes, liked it so much and then decided to buy one of the DVD's.

Any Excuse For A Blog

Just wanted to let you know I'm alive. Not completely, but alive enough. I'm not on here much anymore though, I visit the Buffy forums, Australian forum and some blogs. Then I log off. Speaking of the Buffy forum, a shout out to the LPW folk, especially Isa who won. LPW is awesome. It's pretty fun and you learn a lot about the other people.

I've just got into a few shows as I decided to buy a few first season of shows with my birthday money. They include Firefly, One Tree Hill, Veronica Mars, Dexter and Weeds. Firefly is awesome, has that Whedon-magic. If it ran for longer, it would easily be better than Buffy and Angel. OTH is good, really enjoyable, but I still prefer The OC. Veronica Mars is brilliant, it is smart and funny and has the hottest girl on TV at the moment - Kristen Bell. Also has Amanda Seyfried, she's so cool. I have three episodes to go of Dexter, but I'm liking it. It took a few eps to get me into it, but when you are into it, it is sheer genius. Weeds is possibly the funniest show I've ever seen. I love it and am wanting to buy the second season soon.

As far as TV goes, Gossip Girl ends next week. Michelle Trachtenberg is fantastic as Georgina Sparks, but she is such a b!tch. I have been watching Jeopardy a lot lately. I don't get many answers (you hav to be apart of freakin Mensa to be able to answer those) but I get a fair few. I got two Shakespeare questions the other day, I was impressed with myself !

I better go,
-Alex-

P.S. I am currently participating in Joey's Movie Meltdown Trivia game. It's so frakking hard, but I am happy coz Joey has that uncunny ability to make games and activities really exciting for users.

And thank you everyone for your birthday wishes. Thanks!

Death Cab for Cutie Rock/Pop
"Underappreciated"
When I first reccomended this song to my friends they asked me if I was a goth. Just because they have death in there name doesn't mean they are an emo band. I first heard them on The OC. That's probably how they got a large audience as it features as a running gag in the show. Death Cab For Cutie isn't just a great band, it's a trendsetter for upcoming indie bands

(shudder) Paris Hilton has always seemed as a spoilt brat. Which she is but then she released a music single. Her song "Stars are Blind" is surprisingly good. Her video looks like an edited version of her sex tape though. She's pretty hot though

"Silly"
OK, there is something creepy about this song. Maybe it\'s because it sounds like it supports incest (not saying people who support incest are creepy) or maybe because it just plain sounds scary, I am unsure but there is something peculiar about this song. But why is it so popular is my question?

Oasis Rock/Pop
"All-time favorite"
Noel and Liam Gallagher front this sensational band. Oasis has certainly stood the test of time. Definately one of the most popular British invasion bands ever. Not one of their songs I don't like as they have a unique ability to make you like it. Not only do they write their own songs but they do excellent covers too. I am sure nearly every teenager in the 90's who are located in English speaking countries know Wonderwall. Oddest thing is they were way beyond time but as soon as my sister introduced me to them I have been completely obsessed.

"Grows on You"
I have to admit the first time I heard this I thought this was atrochious. But it grew on me. It has spectacular lyrics and not to mention Rhianna's hot! This is different from any of Rhianna's other songs as her others are up beat but this one has a more dramatic tune/beat to it. This is a fantastic song and would beone of my all-time favourites!

Hey, my name is Alex. I'm a guy who comes from Geelong,Victoria in Australia. My favourite movie ever is Psycho Beach Party. My favourite actress is my icon. Her name is Amanda Righetti and she's damn hot! Although she isn't in many movies. I like sci-fi movies, but no Stargate or Star Trek. Comedy is the best movie genre although I do like drama and animations. But more about me I go to St. Joseph's College (which is a high school. In Australia, college can mean high school or uni) and I am straight. That's all about me.
