"Back Porch Bluegrass" is the epitome of bluegrass sound. While it may be over 40 years old, it has not even been close to being beaten by other albums. Doug Dillard, the banjo player, is the best banjo player I ever heard. Doug really makes songs such as "Hickory Hollow" and "Doug's Tune" (he wrote both), sound good. They are two of my favorite songs. Rodney Dillard, who plays guitar, resphonic guitar, and mandolin, is awesome. Dean Webb puts some pretty hot licks into his mandolin, and Mitch Jayne plays bass. The vocals are excellent on this cd. If you are thinking of buying this cd, I suggest buying the "Back Porch Bluegrass" and "Live!! Almost!!" cd combination together. "Live!! Almost!! is another "Dillards" cd, which is just as good as "Back Porch Bluegrass."
Coming from me, a banjo picker, I highly recommend this album, and it will always be my favorite.
