More Pink Floyd
"Influential"
As I sat and listen to the big tracks from this album I realized that it was really just a culmination of all but one of the different Floyd styles. It even throws in a little bit of spanish. As I listen to it though it almost makes me angry, you see they say that Led Zeppelin was the first heavy metal band. but yet songs like the nile song and ibiza bar show the roots of metal so much better. while many regard it as another simple useless album i see it as an influential masterpiece. the only style they dont use is one that i really dont think has a title. if you listen to the wall and darkside they have a certain tone that just seems to have an odd effect on you. i also believe that i have never heard it anywhere else before. regardless more shows its quality by never being to consistant in itself. this is an album that if you have in the back covered with dust you should pull it out or be beaten. maybe even both.

Meddle Pink Floyd
"Influential"
With the leaving of Syd Barret, Pink Floyd came into a new era of music. Leaving acid rock behind in the dust they began on albums such as Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. In the small era between Syd and Dark Side they were almost forgotten one might say. Yet in the those dark ages David Gilmour expressed himself before Waters controlled the band. With the mix of hard rock, blues and almost like a Barret era genre and space rock; Meddle was the turning point in which Floyd stopped using all the orchestral music and embraced the new world where hippy music and playful English rock wasn't wanted anymore. With a very un-Floyd like intro featuring Waters taking the lead with bass not vocals actually is enjoyable since the bass is rarely heard on it's own with Floyd. Followed by a very simple line of folk, acoustic, jazzy, blues like songs that out of nowhere reach a high point with a song by non other than the great David Gilmour himself with lead guitar over the vocals as the high point. It was a very Animals like song, if you just throw in an animal's name like cats or horses and say dragged down by the stone once or twice, it could be considered a part of Animals. But with all the mixed styles and the unusual use of two basses it culminates into a well built album that I would consider as the one that really got me hooked on Floyd.

Animals Pink Floyd
"Grows on you"
When I first heard this album I thought it was going to be pretty much a waste. Once I listened to it for the 3rd time, I actually listened to the guitar instead of Waters' lyrics which are really almost ranting about his view of this bleak world. I finally noticed that David Gilmour's guitar dominates throughout the entire album. The only lyrics that really make sense are the ones repeated. He constantly refers to being dragged down by the stone. I'm guessing he means that your joining the bleak uselessness of the world as he sees it in his cynical view. The light creepiness of the echoing keyboard helps to support Waters' view. This album is not for your casual listener that dabs in all genres of music. If you like the second disc of The Wall then you would like this album.

The Beatles 1 The Beatles
"Masterpiece"
1 has to be one of the best Beatles compilations ever. I say one of the best because it doesn't have some of their best songs like Revolution and When I'm Sixty-Four. But even without those it still pretty much sums up the Beatles whole career, without Tony Sheridan that is. Some of their best works of art are on this one, like Can't Buy Me Love, Yesterday, Hard Day's Night, Get Back, and The Ballad of John and Yoko (Which really isn't a ballad if you ask me). This album shows the extreme success of John Lennon, Paul Mcartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
