inane blog fodder

I was bored (really bored), so I took a D&D character sheet quiz.

I Am A: True Neutral Human Ranger (4th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength-11
Dexterity-12
Constitution-14
Intelligence-17
Wisdom-16
Charisma-11

Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hair****, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

****
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Truths

Things I've discovered or re-discovered recently, while moving from the big city to the "country".

1. The amount of stuff you have expands to fill the greatest number of boxes you are able to obtain.

2. Sofas, in between being placed in a home and being removed, bulge to at least 101% the width of the doorway they are to be carried through.

3. Keep an eye on your books. When you're not looking, they multiply like rabbits.

4. Cats have little motors inside of them. This of course, explains the sounds they produce. It also explains the sudden bursts of spastic energy they are prone to, especially at the ungodly hours of dawn.

5. Pitching hay warms you up. It's true.

Sun Spirit

Lately I've been practicing coloring Tsubasa/xxxHolic manga pages in the GIMP:

Dreamer Heterochromatic Kitsune Kamuui

Eventually it occured to me to (duh!) try coloring one of my own pencil sketches.

This is the result:

Sun Spirit

(bigger version on DevArt )

She was supposed to represent Azula from A:TLA as the Sun Spirit, the counter part for Moon Spirit Yue [she doesn't look much like Azula though ].

This is my theory about what will happen to Azula at the end of the show:

She can't be killed out right because neither Aang nor Zuko (nor any of the other protagonists) are killers. Not to mention absolutely no one in the avatarverse is bad-arse enough to finish her off.

She also can't be killed because she's a 14 year-old girl on a Y-TV show.

On the other hand, they can't just let her live, because she would always undermine any effort to create lasting peace in the Avatarverse.

The solution is to have her "die" in the same sense Yue did: by becoming a spirit. Yue did this voluntarily, out of the goodness of her heart. Azula would incur this fate against her will. But it won't be so bad for her: She can blaze all she wants, and she would have plenty of worshippers.

Holy flying Tea-Kettles!

New obsessions FTW!

If I really was smart, I would be careful about getting obsessed with on-going manga series. At least I'd make sure to choose ones that update in separate days of the week. But anyways, Naruto went on an end-of-the year hiatus, meanwhile leaving the anime watchers in a state of "#$@^, DBZ-esque episode-long power-up sequence!!!" and the manga readers in the state of "*jaw drop* No freaking way! This is so not what it looks like!".

To fill up time, this little black duck checked out the CLAMP-verse. A dangerous mistake, becase Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle has captured my soul. This manga starts out fairly well, but things really get intense around chapter [or chapitre, whatever] 110 (inconsequently, that's where an actual reservoir first appears, but it still doesn't explain the title).

Read at your own peril.

Edited to add some Tsubasa/xxxHolic (+Buffy quotage) icons made by yours truly.

The Trash-Heap Has Spoken

Taking a trip down memory lane... I found a bunch of Fraggle Rock episodes someone has posted. I used to love this show so much. I wish they would still show it somewhere.

If you're a child of the eighties you can re-watch The Beginning and sing along...

Every day the world begins again

Sunny skies or rain

Come and follow me

Every sunrise shows me more and more

So much to explore

Come and follow me

Every morning

Every day

Every evening

Calling me away

While the sun goes round I'll still be found

Following the sound

Something's calling me

When the world goes drifting back to bed

Memories fill my head

Wonders follow me

Every morning

Every day

Every evening

Calling me away

Every morning

Every day

Every evening

Calling me away
