My TV Round-up to Kick off the New Year
So I realized that it's been a really long time since I posted anything and I figured before the semester really gets underway and I don't have time to read or write anything about TV in any fun capacity I would update the blog.
Fall TV: I probably shouldn't have watched as much TV as I did during the fall but what can I say I'm addicted, some of it was for homework, and everything was finally back after the disrupted season last year. I was most excited for House, Gossip Girl, and Chuck to come back and in my opinion none of them have disappointed. Both GG and Chuck are so not suffering from a sophmore slump and I know I'm probably in the minority but I like Thirteen on House and I certainly cannot complain about the witty banter or sarcasm from House b/c it has seriously rocked so far. TSCC has surprised me the most. Each week I'm completely intrigued with the storylines and since I have never read spoilers for this show it's refreshing to be shocked or at least not know ahead of time and I get to actually enjoy watching the story unfold, assuming they will start to pay off the many set-ups. I was really enjoying Smallville and thought that it had completely turned itself around in a good way that was until they took away Chloe's memory which continues to anger me everytime I think about it. Heroes continues to decline and if anything else were on Monday's at 9pm I would stop watching it. I just discovered Stargate Atlantis this summer and of course it ended like last week. One day I get my hands on the DVDs and really g through all five seasons but for now I'm content to watch the reruns on Sci-Fi Channel. I'm going to miss Pushing Daises a lot, once again I have fallen in love with a show that is unique and brilliant and once again it's been cancelled. I just hope ABC will air the remaining episodes soon so I don't have to wait for the DVD to see them.
Hooray: Friday Night Lights is coming back to regular TV, I fell in love with it from Hulu and now I'm psyched to see the new season. Also I'm excited for Dollhouse. I don't really know what to expect from it. I've tried not to read anything because I would rather not have expectations going into it. Also ER is finally ending which I've been waiting for foreeeever. Although I could care less about any of the newer characters its been fun to see who from the past shows up each week.
Even More Random Thoughts: With Grissom leaving CSI I really wonder how much longer I'll watch. There have been so many exits within this season and the last that I'm afraid CSI could turn into the next ER where it becomes a revolving door...
What I learned about TV from school: So for my Television Studies class last semester I wrote my final paper on the effects of American Consumerism / Advertising format of broadcast tv on the tv show Chuck and I learned that Chuck along with almost all of the NBC network is just hours of shameless promotion, I still like Chuck though
Top 5 Changes
I disappeared for 24 hours and now I am posting this blog as part of the Gone Dark campaign to support the tv.com community in having our voices heard regarding the new 'look' for tv.com...
1. The Color Scheme is intense, the old color scheme or the ability to personalize would be greatly appreciated.
2. The 'My Listings' feature used to include network/channel info as well as show name, episode title and time. Without this info the listings are not that efficent.
3. What happened to the Last episode and Next Episode feature on each of the show pages?
4.All of the show pages look uniform now and don't even include a photo of the main characters or logo. I enjoyed that each page had at least one thing on it that represnted that particular show.
5. Please fix the bugs, I know I was not alone in not being able to post a blog or in forums when the change occured. I know that people are most likely working on the many voiced problems but this site is about adding content and contributing to message boards so losing those abilities, even for a short while, is frustrating.
Blackout Day...
So its not quite midnight here on the east coast of the US but before I forget or fall asleep I just wanted to make sure I posted here and logged off before the 30th.
So I'll see eveyone on the flip side, peace out and power to the tv.com users!
A New Chapter
So I was procrastinating from doing homework and realized that I haven't posted anything new since June, woah. A lot has changed since my last post but thankfully TV is starting up again and all is right with the world. I graduated in May and now I am in PA at Penn State working on my Master's degree in Media Studies which is cool because I get to spend even more time in school watching and talking about TV however the trade off is a whole lot of reading and writing. I'm still getting used to my new home and school but not having a social life, at least not yet, has given me a bit more time to watch TV and catch up with all the news surrounding fall premiers.
Returning Shows I am super excited for: House- Last season's finale was so amazing that I can forgive the show for the rocky start and now that a new team is in place I am excited to see how the different dynamics play out. Chuck- Time makes the heart grow fonder, or something like that its been a while and with Chuck receiving a full season pick up I feel like it's only going to get better.
Returning Shows I am excited for but afraid might suck as the season goes on: This category includes Heroes, Smallville, and CSI. While I think they all have promise, they all also have the ability to screw up big. I am trying to be optimistic and give each show a fair chance.
Returning Shows I will watch but not sure why I still am: ER is not even a guilty pleasure or quality show anymore I just want to see how it ends!
Returning and New Shows I am not sure about but will watch if there is nothing else on: Pushing Daises- Although I watched it last season, its been so long and I still don't know if the charm has captured my attention. 90210- The show is no longer original and I am sure that every storyline will have either been done by the original or another show with a similar premise but I like that Kelly and Brenda and hopefully others are making guest appearances. Samantha Who?- Although I like this show more so than the others I listed in this category it will be on Monday nights which is already really busy for me and doesn't even return until Oct. 6th so I might have to just watch it later.
Shows that are already back and are awesome: T:SCC and Gossip Girls have returned in full form and have a lot of really good things going for them.
So thats my rundown of TV for this season. Of course I will be watching Dollhouse when it makes its debut but otherwise I think this is enough for now. Oh I am also watching the new RR/RW challenge The Island, a total guilty pleasure and I might check out the new season of Survivor. Because my Friday nights have been rather boring I have started to watch Stargate Atlantis.
