I can't believe it, but it's finally happened. THE RED RING OF DEATH!

You know, you hear about things like this happening to people on the internet. You think, "That sucks, but it's not my problem. I mean, it's not like it can happen to me." WELL IT CAN! I know, that even right now, you don't consider THE RED RING OF DEATH a threat to your 360. You might think, "Well I take great care of my 360. There's no way anything will happen to my 360. It's in a well ventilated area and I even play in moderation to make sure it can't overheat." Think again. It's very possible. You leave your 360 for just a minute to check on some torrents, and when you return, BAM! Out of nowhere, there are 3 quadrants of a red ring staring you down. Ok so, you turn off your 360 as fast as you can. You cross your fingers and turn it back on. Nope, doesn't work. Panic mode sets in. You remove your HDD in fear of losing those precious gamesaves. You ring Xbox customer support. They run you through the unplug, re-hook bullcrap. After all of this, they tell you they're sending you a pre-paid box so you can send your baby in for repair.

This scene is all too familiar to me.

What will become of my 360? Will it return to me in perfect condition? Will my HDD work? Who knows. All I can do is wait.

So just like drunk drivers, cancer, AIDS, and divorce, don't think it can't happen to you.

yes it is weird when it happens to you, hearing so much about it, and then it happens to you, its weird, its like death

i have no idea if my HDD has survived, i have an MU for my saves and im hoping that has survived

i dont trust the repairal, i hear they simply get you a new one and even sometimes wipe your HDD. thats why i have kept mine for a while

I don't see how they could wipe your HDD, as they tell you to keep it when you send it in. The only thing you send is the 360 itself. Also, a complete replacement would be fine with me, as long as I get to play my 360 games again. Man it already feels like it's been weeks.
