TV Guide

For whose who are wondering how I come up with all these submissions, I'll tell you.  The library that I go to regularly has old issues of TV Guide; the oldest issue it has is from the week of February 28-March 6, 1981.  That's how I'm able to come up with exact airdates and air times for many of these shows.  I also rely on other websites, such as imdb.com, tvguide.com, Classic TV Archive, and others.

I hope other editors will follow my lead and find old TV Guide issues to help with their submissions.

That's awesome! That's a pretty obvious solution, and obviously a lot more accurate than most websites can offer. Yet one more reason to go to an actual library and do some research.

I want to thank you for your hard work on the site and helping get the right information on the guides.

Cool how you get your info. My mom used to have a ton of old tv guides that dated back to '88(major pack rat). Now I wish we would have saved them. Thanks for the hard work in getting all of the info correct. It is greatly appreciated.

You do a great job, Renee. Keep up the good work.

Wonderful idea!! Thanks, because I've been wondering about this for some of my series. I'm bookmarking your blog!

That is great and good job getting to level 55!

You go to the library?!

In the UK, the two most useful TV magazines are called 'TV Times' and 'Radio Times' - the second is the BBC's own weekly and dates back to the 1920s, and yes, it does still have some radio in it. All back numbers of both fetch good money on eBay.

Don't forget BCdB.com; it's got lots of toons. (I found another site called TViV.org, but I'm not too sure if it's trustworthy or just copying other sites..)

Sound advice...I have also noticed your work to clean up the duplicates on this site and your contributions (and previous editorships) to an amazing number of guides to classic shows around here.

I totally agree with you. I actually am a TV Guide collector and have relied on validating airdates and other info in TV Guide for years. Currently my collection is at about 2500 issues ranging all the way back to 1953. I have almost every issue from the 1980s and the 1990s. Now, I'm working on the 70s.

Wow! Level 70! Congrats!

If someone can't make it to the library, TVGuide.online also has lots of info (not nearly as much) but it can be a help.

Hey char2renee,

Do you mind keeping me on as Trusted for The Steve Harvey Show, now that you passed me? I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,
Lisa

well that is the smartest way! Thanks for being a honest editor/contributor! I am in a pickle with an editor that is gaming the system by denying my subs as in episodes and such and then inputting them, but I assume it will be dealt with soon, so keep up the GREAT work and yes, TV Guide is awesome! You are the best and most honest editor and contributor (or should I say one of the best and honest editors and tv.com contributors) that I have come across. Keep up the awesome work! You are the best !!! Also, have a wonderful Easter or whichever holiday you celebrate!

Well TV Guide isn't always accurate as to what is actually played on the air, but for the most part it would be a great choice.

hello there,

I want to thank you for the latest contribution on the FBI episode of Quantico. I did a lot of research on the episode synopsis through the newspaper TV Guide, TV log etc. A lot of these issues are on microfilm and that is my source of episodes. You should also check out my reviews of TV show and information on celebrities.

Did you know you can watch "The FBI" TV show on line? Go to AOL.COM click IN2TV, then dramas and The FBI. you can watch the episode without Cal Worthington or Mr. Whipple to disrupt your viewing.
