Even if you don't normally like jazz this guy is incredible. Tons of layers and textures to his tunes. Seems like every time you listen to his songs you find some new little nuance that you didn't hear before. Marc lets the guitar do the singing for him. Every time I listen to his tracks I just want to pick up my guitar and play along.

Just a great band. Their music is totally infectious. Even though I haven't listen to an album in about a month or more, I can still hear the songs running though my head. While the songs may on the surface seem like a cliche, and the music may be simple, there is just some undenible quality to the songs that makes you wanna listen. It's like some shared common human experience that reaches out from the primordial soup that formed us all.

The La's one and only album which is a same. I had heard an interview with the band and they were trashing this album, saying they didn't like the way it sounded and that it was rushed. Everytime I listen to this album I feel like I been on a journey. And this is truly one of those rare albums/CD's that you can listen ALL the way through. It's just too bad that the band disappeared after this album. I would have liked to see what else they could put out.

I'll admit I haven't much listened to the Smithereens in some time. In fact I really kind of lost interest in the band with the album Blow Up. Since that album I haven't heard any of the two later albums (I know I just dated myself alil with that term). Everything leading up to Blow up was great and I still listen to the earlier albums today. But the album Blow Up was so bad that I lost interest in the band. Last I saw The Smitereens had done a New Year's show in Chicago a few years ago (maybe 2 years ago I think) and Pat DiNizio had put on so much weight it didn't even look like him and he had a hard time moving around the stage (kinda of looked like a wounded Rhino). Otherwise that New Years concert seemed good, but the magic seemed gone.

I am so tired about hearing about the dang Stones. The only thing I can say positively about them is that they have survived as long as they have. Just the fact that Keith Richards is still alive is truly a miracle. But besides that as musicans, and their songs in general, I think are all overrated. Everything sounds the same. So what if they are popular, Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake are popular too, it doesn't make them great musicans.
