What Happened?
My computer died last weekend. Yesterday was the first time I'd been on TV.com since then. What the hell is going on here? This site looks like crap. Why is everything white? Why do I have to scroll horizontally just to see almost a quarter of the page? The show guides look awful. Was there any warning given about this? Am I that far out of the loop? I'll be using the computer at the public library for at least the next few weeks and I'm not looking foward to dealing with all this.

24 Hour Sports
ESPN, the self-proclaimed 'Worldwide Leader in Sports', launched on this day in 1979. There was little to indicate back then on what a bloated monstrosity the network was to become.
Let's Play Two
The first televised Major League baseball games were broadcast on this day in 1939. The doubleheader between Brooklyn and Cininnati was shown on W2XBS, later to become WNBC. The games could be seen in about 500 homes, the press room at Ebbets Field, and the Television Pavilion at the New York World's Fair. No one could see the ball.
