Homophobic. Now I'm not one to make apparently outlandish claims without evidence (just ask MetalGear_Ninty). No, I've got evidence coming out the orifices like a gay man has p---wait, oh right, homophobia---better not.
The first happening that happened was the 300 blog modding. Now that one was quite understandable. I mean it was very moddable. I understand that. Nevertheless it is the only blog I have ever posted that has been modded. Was it much more offensive than other ones? Not by a whole lot. It did however contain 90% more men engaging in sexual activities. That is the only difference. Sure, this is just a correlation, but let me continue (and bear in mind that I've had verbal hentai (involving machines and big-breasted women and alpha males), and Snake having glorious battle sex with a cybernetic ninja---I'm getting hot just thinking of it!):
Rap music is meant to be very homophobic, misogynist (which is a form of homophobia many would tell you, of course they'd be right they were talking about homogenization) and just plain bad music. Well taking all of this into account you'd be surprised to find the well respected musical artist D'Angelo being discussed on a rap union. Not only was his critically acclaimed music being discussed, but so was his body. Oh yeah, it was accepted that it was pretty hot.

But apparently this level of attraction backfired on him like a homose---err, like a car. Yes, D'Angelo (the only ever good urban artist) ended up being loved by women. And we all know what women's taste in music is like. They say you don't outgrow the music you like as a tween and teenager, and who has the worst taste ever? Young girls. Well, they liked him, so maybe they had good taste. No, they liked him for his body. So I suppose they did have good taste, but apparently the groupies weren't enough for him. No, he wanted to be liked for his music.
In fact it turns out he thought that RnB was devoid of content and soul (yet didn't say this about rap, what an idiot amirite? Dude's a black man, though, so I suppose he can't help himself. IT's that gutter music that keeps them out of school and in the ghetto too. Shooting up schools and thinking they can only be something through becoming a gangster, rapper, gangster rapper, sportsman or gangster sportsman. Man if it wasn't for rap black people would be so better off. (And Obama likes that crap? Damn, I wish I hadn't voted for him.) So he was pretty pissed off that he wasn't liked for his music which was full of content and soul, and nude music videos.
So ever since then he's disappeared and not made any music. Nor any soft-core pornography music videos, so both his female fans and his male fans are pretty pissed off about his absence. So on this obviously homophobia ridden forum after a group of (presumably) heterosexual males discussed his level of sexual attractiveness one pointed out that he should've thought of the consequences of doing the music video in question, and should've kept his top on.
To this I said: "but his face is hot too, no homo somehow." Now, no homo is a humorous tongue in cheek (yes, tongue you pervert, and not another man's pe---) term used in the rap community to signify one's heterosexuality when saying things that could be interpreted as being homosexual. However it is not used when referring to another man kissing another man, for example:
"And now I understand the meaning of love, when I kissed the"
Raekwon – Ason Jones
The word after 'the' is not no homo It is a common synonym for black man. I'm sure most of the white mods at GS and snitches will not only be full aware of word, but also what context to use it in, being so good at exhibiting such behaviour that white people who non-jokingly use the term do. Oh yeah, I did just make the comparison. Let's see if I get modded for it. At least I didn't compare them to Nazis, right?
But speaking of Nazi-ism, they were homophobes too. It wasn't just the Jews that they liked to go around killing en masse, no they went for gypsies, homosexuals, the disabled, the mentally ill, the political, well pretty much everyone who took their fancy. Even the odd Aryan! And you know what? I fit into several of those categories (you can guess which). Now I don't want to make false implications about this, but let's be honest, it's got to be more than coincidence.
So back to the body discussion. Not only was I modded and suspended for a day the whole discussion was deleted. For offensive content. Now I don't know about you, but I've seen threads on OT discussing women in far more sexual ways, in far more detail, and yet the only way they'll ever get deleted is if they fill up with spam. Yep, not offensive content, not even disruptive posting, but spam. Spam. And yet the funniest thing about this? You can't even say the c word. It's not a swear word, it's a God damn genuine anatomical word which is the female equivalent to the penis (Yes they actually have one). And that's not vagina You can say that.
This place is like Grey's Anatomy. Not the show, the book. There's lots of mention of the c word on the show. Not that I've ever seen it. I'd comment on how dreamy McDreamy* is, but then I'd just get modded again. Err, the word in question has on and off been out of a medical journal. A genuine God damn medical journal! (An important one at that) How the hell can they justify that? Are they going to leave out the little finger at some point? Why the hell don't feminists complain about this? Huh? Well? Tell me, feminists, why the hell wouldn't you? I'm pissed off about and I hate feminists! That's right, I hate feminists. But listen, I don't hate them because of their women's rights, okay? It's kinda like why I hate mods: they're all homophobes. Fact: feminists are homophobes. They don't like lesbians, even if they would like to be one. No way are they willing to go any where near the c word. It's too much like a penis Eww!
This might be one of my best blogs so catch it while you can! Now that people like to report my blogs. I've decided that I'll do something absolutely epic for the 2009 blog. Expect it on New Year's Eve. Which is the day before that for most of you. It'll be all the amazing events of the entire decade, and probably be a long series of blogs. Bear in mind one of my yearly blogs yearly blogs had five parts. So this'll be as epic as possible. Up the haters I say---I mean up yours the haters. Actually I can't say that, can I? No, up the haters it is!
Long live Nazism and homophobia!
*Microsoft Office 2007 suggested calling him McCreamy. God, that would be sexy. It's good to know that Bill Gates isn't a homophobe.

...and, like a lot of people, I'm excited (about the presents
)

First off, getting Bioshock (took me a while to get it...a long while) and Fallout 3 GOTY Edition for PS3, and while I fought temptation, I lost, so I'm also getting Dragon Age: Origins on PS3 (I wanted to get it on PC to get more out of it, but since my PC is a steaming hunk of crap, I felt compelled to get it on a platform I could play it on, rather than wait 'til I build a new PC).

Secondly, I am planning on bringing the Terminator Union back to life, before the year's end. Anyone who isn't a member, but wants to be a part of the Terminator Union, feel free to join.

And lastly, the recurring "Game of the Month" blogs will be back, starting this month, with Dead Space 2.
I'd also be interested to know what everyone else is getting for Christmas, if you know what you're getting; or doing over this holiday season, if you don't celebrate Christmas.
Last week I had a chance to rent one of the very few animes movies at my local Blockbuster. One of them happen to be the subject of this blog, and its one of the best anime movies I ever seen (look at a bunch). The name of the movie is Grave of The Fireflies:

This movie was originally made in the late 1980's, but was released to DVDs by A.D.V films this year. This movie doesn't have any top notch animation, but doesn't even require it. What drives this movie is the relationship between Seita (male above) and his little sister Setsuko. The movie takes place during the WWII era, and their lives are greatly effected by the war.

Scene at the beginning where they flee bombing planes
As the movie progresses the two start to become more dependent on each other. They windup living with relatives, but they soon leave due the lack of compassion from their aunt. The end up living in a bomb shelter were they promised to look after each other. Despite the tragedies going on around them Seita does wonderful job trying to be a good brother. While their parents are gone its Seita who has to fill in both roles as parents. The more hopeless the situation gets, the more determined he got to protect his sister from reality.

Some of the good times the two spent together.
Though Seita was a great support to his sister, the effects of the war continued to loom over them throughout the movie. Many food supplies were rationed, and the value of money plummeted. The hearts ofthe nations people also become cold, and indifferent to the duo's situation. Still Seita foundways to get around their hopeless situation ( by stealing).

A river they lived by in the later parts of the movie.
As the story progressed their living conditions become more unbearable, and forces Seita to risk his life to get their next meal. With everything thing going on Setsuko slowly loses hope, and clings desperately to her brother.

Setsuka waiting for her brother to return with food.
The movie was real eye opener to the effects that war has on it people. The bombing wasn't ultimately the primary threat the two faced, but crushed spirits of their countryman (and women). As the war progresses they recived less help from those around them and eventually they had to look after themselves. With no one to support they led solitary lives that eventually overcame them. I highly recommend that this movie be viewed with Kleenex's because of the many powerful scenes in this movie. Many of them were difficult to watch but came together beautifully in the end. Whether your touched by the story or not the struggles of these kids are unique and very tragic.

The fireflies play a significant role in the movie, and ironically symbolizes the two perfectly.
To those still reading I have a treat for ya. If you want to watch the move here a linkto a streamed version of the movie. Non-subscriber's to megavideo can only watch 45 minutes of the video, so keep that in mind (half now and half later). Anyway I'm tackling the move Voices of a Distant Star this week. It promises to be another emotionally charge move, so wish me luck.
It has been almost a year since I last posted here, so needless to say I have been out of the GameSpot and gaming loop for quite some time. I've been keeping myself busy with the new job and other pursuits, so I somewhat lost the passion for gaming until recently. I finally took the dive and joined the Next-Gen, so to speak, as I became the proud owner of an Xbox360 Elite and a copies of Fallout 3 and Dead Space.
After holding out for what seemed like ages, I finally just couldn't wait anymore. I'd already "missed" so many great games and I wasn't going to miss either. Having already gone through Dead Space once, I can say for sure that I will play through it many, many more times as it was one of the most satisfying game experiences I've had in a long time. It takes the best gameplay aspects of games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and combines them with the best story aspects of movies like Alien and Event Horizon. A truly enjoyable game that will remember for some time.
Fallout 3 has been an entirely different beast. I'm aghast at the shear volume of content in the game so far, and from my understanding it is actually smaller than the previous Fallouts. The game is flat out fun to play, and not just the missions or the combat, simply walking around the Wastelands is a sight to be seen. You never know what you're going to discover. So far I've been taking it slow, not trying to rush through it, but it has already been one of the best games I've ever played.
Anyways, I'll probably be hanging around here more frequently now. I have a lot of gaming to catch up on and the list is only getting longer, but as always, the Dude abides.
I think a 5 month gap is a new record. I've been visiting GS less lately and been spending time on other websites like RelicNews and several Warhammer 40000 sites. Even now I only visit GS for off-topic, system wars, the Dawn of War 2 board and some unions.
My gaming tastes haven't changed a lot. Picked up the Orange Box, KOTOR 2 and STALKER: Clear Sky during the summer and still playing them. Currently looking forward to Left 4 Dead, Men of War, Empire: Total War, Dawn of War 2 and the recently announced 2nd expansion to Company of Heroes. Red Alert 3 looks very dissapointing however and I won't be buying it.
Now as a continuation of the previous blog I'll say that I did choose Physics, Chemistry, History and Latin. So far Physics has been the most difficult with Chemistry being the easiest. And here's my GCSE results which I got in late August.

I also watched the US election and I'm glad America made the right decision, though I would have been absolutely fine with McCain as President before he picked Sarah Palin for VP. My respect for the man has also increased greatly for the man after his consolation speech in Phoenix.

I was a little flippant in the last entry so just in case it isn't clear, I fully understand how completely messed up this is. It's as if Gamespot is trying to destroy their own credibility, trying to make people cancel their subscriptions, with how they're handling this. For the love of God apologize. And if you can't apologize, or don't feel you have to, put the situation out in the open. This policy bull crap about how we don't talk about former or current employee's hiring/firing status is a load of crap. Protecting his privacy? Then why can't Jeff talk about it? Cnet lawyers protecting him from himself?
I don't want to be a big drama queen and leave Gamespot, that's always a load of crap to me, "leaving" the site. It's the internet, you're not really going anywhere. But I'll be damned, Cnet sure is trying it's damndest to change my mind.
edit: And God dammit, do you even realize who you're firing? Greg Kasavin is gone, if he was still here I think Gamespot could weather this a little better (I'd like to think it never would have happened but what the hell do I know?), but now... I don't want to say this in an insulting way to the many editors left over who I've loved to read over the years. Brad Alex all them don't get me wrong I would grieve their leaving in a very real way especially under these circumstances but when you fire Jeff Gerstmann you're cutting off the goddamn head. I mean who the hell do we look to now? Who is the face of Gamespot? And how can we look at whoever takes Jeff's place without a sense of suspicion? If they can swallow their morals and take up his position in the wake of something so blatant as this, what the hell are we supposed to think?
