TV.com Looks...Kinda Weird

I mean...it looks swanky and all, but it's almost like it's too white. Know what I mean?

I also love that the Change Submission Type button has now disappeared completely from submission entries, and we have a new non-working "Push" button(I tried them on your Summary Subs Tinnie, ) Is it just Firefox, or is it the site? Also my Favorite Boards have disappeared from the "Community" (read: Forums) section.

I also seem to be having a problem rejecting submissions. A technical problem, not a moral or ethical problem. They just don't reject. So help me if I get a Message about leaving a sub in my queue for too long...I drink YOUR milkshake!

Granted I expected bugs, so no "Itz NEW, CHILL!" comments, please. And I'm sure they'll get everything up in a nice, orderly fashion.....

Also, posting blogs doesn't seem to work either, but I commented on a news storry just fine. I got this up through MovieTome.

Don't forget, tonight's the premiere of Season 4 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!! Make sure to watch the hilarity

Snow Daze

People who don't clean off their windshields when it snows should be dragged out into the street and shot/beat down by any able-bodied citizen.

Who's with me!?!?

I Love My 360, and My 360 Loves Me

I've decided that when I don't have anything else to post, I'll occasionally fill the void with an interesting post from my 360's blog.(Yes,the XBOX 360 is capable of writing its own blogs...it's just that smart. Take that PS3/Wii!! ) Here we go...:

Deonaris' 360 wrote:

That is a profit of 10 points over last time! He opened up Prince of Persia, Pac-Man C.E., Carcassonne, Bomberman LIVE picking up 1 achievement, OXM Disc 74, BeautifulKatamari Demo, and then I needed a nap. Don't judge me! It's a lot of work pushing all those pixels. Also, Deonaris and I have played 30 days in a row... If I understand the rules, I think we are getting a streak badge...

24 or 42? Both! (aka Drew's Birthday Blowout Blog)

This blog is a work in-progress...I'll be adding to it over the next few days.

Birthday Blowout

So, my birthday's today. I'm 24...Gawd, I feel old. Well, not really. But it's almost 1/4 of a century! So no "over-the-hill" jokes from anyone.

Saturday was a Quadruple Birthday Bash for me, my Step-sister, her husband, and my grandfather. It was fun, but it gets a little nuts, and it also seems like an excuse to forget when people's birthdays actually are. I raked in some $$$ and got some giftcards to Best Buy and Gamestop. Always appreciated.

On the List of gifts: The Darkness, Reno 911: Season's 3, 4 and Miami. Some Doctor Who novels, a SP book, and some key comics.

And just today, I got an awesome DVD from Blockbuster in the mail(so it seems like a gift, though it's not): The Critic! I loved this show when it was on, and watching just a few episodes makes me want to run out and buy it.

Paris Hilton Should Rot

Ok, the ONLY reason I'm even talking about this is because it happened on my birthday...and that's just not cool. In case you were unaware, Paris Hilton was released from "prison" today. I use quotes because it's notrealprison. It's a powderpuff imitation of what prison is. I know, I've seen OZ. But I think we can all agree that we think of prison, we don't think of her accomodations.

On top of that, she was there for 3 weeks...wow, that must have been rough for her. I'm sure there are people in jail right now wishing they could berelatively isolated and get to see their families privately. I mean, her parents walked right up the line, past all the others who'd been waiting to see their families, the room was cleared out so they could have "alone time"(through glass at that).

On top of THAT, upon leaving, she already had a $300,000 offer to write a book about it, not to mention a $1 Million dollar interview with Larry freakin' King. Oh Larry, why? You run a news show on CNN, there has to be more important things that some spoiled trust-fund babies watered-down prison stay to cover. There has to!!

She says she's changed her ways, she says she plans on building a "Halfway Hilton" for the disadvantaged. Shesays she's leaving her old life behind. I doubt it.

More to come, as per usual, with some World Wide Weird, and Movie Sequels You Weren't Aware Of.

The End of an Era( A Banned Notice)

As some of you already know, ZugZug4 aka Ryan has been banned from the site.  Now, I won't get into the why's and how's mainly because a) I don't know all of them, and b) I'd like this blog to stay up for more than 5 minutes.

Either way, his account has been banned, if you need concrete proof, visit his GameSpot page.  Now, as much as this incredibly, INCREDIBLY sucks.

Let us instead remember all the things Ryan brought to the site, from post parties to midnight munchies, to the countless blogs on the most entertaining of subjects.  Not to mention all the work he did on the site.  Sure he didn't have 500 editorships, but I've always said it's quality over quantity. Give me a good editor or TC with a handful of shows over someone who's spread way too thin any day.

We'll miss ya man..

Movie Sequels You're Not Aware Of.. Vol. 4 & More!

Due to an attempt to create suspense, Movie Sequels will not be first.

Clark & Michael

I can't remember where I heard about Clark & Michael initially, but I do remember when I watched the first episode. 23 Minutes ago, and it was great!  I'm sure many of you are Arrested Development fans. And if you're not...well, we have ways of dealing with you. So, best go out and get some ADonDVD.  Anyway, Michael Cera as George-Michael on the show.  This, however, has nothing to do with that. Just a reference point. The best way to describe Clark & Michael is as follows:

"A mockumentary series focused on two aspiring producers (Cera and Duke) who believe their own hype regarding the big idea for a TV show, but do little in the way of actually making the program."

Thanks IMDB! It really is funny as hell, and I suggest you all watch it, as well as reading their personal profiles. They're quite funny.

Lindsay Lohan...Prison Plaything?

In what can only be described as a bad way to start off the week for Lindsay Lohan, she was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.  Upon searching her car, they found what "they believed to be cocaine".

Hmmm...I wonder if Lindsay and Paris will be cellmates..

More Movie Sequels You Weren't Aware Of...Vol. 4

Freddy & Jason...Again?

Ok, I'm clumping two together for two reasons: 1. There's hardly any info on either. and 2. It's depressing.

There's an Untitled Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel set for 2008, which is basically some guy running around kidnapping, molesting, and killing kids. That should be great. Followed by Untitled Friday the 13th Sequel in 2009...and do we really need another Jason movie? Will it be that much different than Freddy vs. Jason?

Alien vs. Predator 2: More Reasons to Cry at the Movies

I can't even to begin to ask why they're making a sequel to AvP (IMDB).  I mean, if you want Alien vs. Predator action, go get the comics, or even that videogame that came out (which I think they're also making a sequel to) would be a better idea than the following:

"Warring alien and predator races descend on a small town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival."

Starring...no one you know. This one's already in post-production..I-I'm sorry.

It's a Bad Bad Bad Bad BAD Idea!

Yes, that's right, they're making a sequel to the 1963 movie It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, starring some great Actors of the day. Worse yet, they're calling it It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World: The Sequel

I can see it now, all the kids at school will say: "Hey man, hear they're making a sequel to that really old 1963 movie?" That should generate a lotta buzz.

Hope everyone's having a good Memorial Day Weekend!

World Wide Wierd...and Barbarella!

Wake Up and Fight, America!

At least that's what Michael Moore wants. See article HERE. I could so take him in a fight...  As for the topic at hand, if the current political quagmire that we've found ourselves in for a good while hasn't gotten the American people into a fightin' mood, I'm not sure his new film can either.

Don't get me wrong, the American Health system is nuts, and I can't wait to see this movie(on DVD most likely). But I just think people have kinda gotten over the whole "OMG Michael Moore! He's right! We should do something" Heck, even when his first films came out and floored people with the truth, they still didn't stand up and take notice.

I'm not saying he's not a bit of a whackjob...I'm just saying he does make points from time to time.

Katie Holmes: Porn star?

Whoops, misspelled it. It's Katee Holmes that's the porn star.  That's right there's a porn star out there named Katee Holmes who's got an interesting idea for how to kick start her career in the industry.(Article)

The real Katie Holmes isn't so thrilled. She's apparently "angry" and "threatening legal action"..

Hey Katie, just be happy that someone with your name is getting some action.

The Addams' Hit Broadway

That's right, book your tickets now. The Addams Family is coming to Broadway!  I know they're creepy and they're kooky...but are they musical?  Somehow I think not, and I think this will be really, REALLY lame.

Barbarella on the Fast Track!

Robert Rodriguez will be directing a new adaptation of Barbarella set for a 2008 worldwide release.  I really can't say anything bad about the man.  He does awesome work.  So I'll be in line, will you? Full Story

Criminals of New York, Quick....Find Stairs!!

 Cops on Segways

Apparently this is the key to ending crime in New York.  Take a good look. Yup, that's salvation.  10 cops, in different parts of the city, patrolling on Segways.  I don't really know how this is supposed to be useful in law enforcement.  I mean, I've ridden on a Segway, and I can tell you from experience, you don't wanna be chasing down criminals on one.

I mean, at least the bike cops could have criminals ride in their basket.  Where will they put the apprehended goons now?! Besides, a small gang of thugs could easily take down a cop on a segway.  The truly ironic thing about this idea?  It's illegal to ride a Segway in NYC...

5/16- The Day the Earth Stood Still or Why people need to stop and breathe

You know, for a second there, I thought the entire internet was going to crash yesterday.  What with all the rabid Halo fans chomping at the bit for the Halo 3 Demo,

But it didn't, people just made complete asses of themselves, threatening everyone from Bungie and Microsoft, to wishing ill will on Major Nelson's flight back.  Now, I like Halo, I like it just fine.  And I did want to get the demo yesterday. Does this mean that I'm going to insult someone's mom over it? Probably not.  Leave it to CHUD to put it eloquently: Halo 3 Beta Issues Reveal One's True Soul

The author sums it up nicely: "I call it 5/16, because the loose-lipped Neanderthals populating the world of video game forums are treating it like 9/11 but with more collateral damage. "

There's some great links in there of people showing off their stupidity at an alarming level. Without knowing who exactly who was at fault, they jumped at the nearest available throat.

But eventually, the issues were worked out, the beta went live, and everyone STFU REAL quick. Ungrateful SOBs.

Don't misunderstand, gentle readers, I did my fair share of complaining, but it was more of a "Couldn't they have tested it first" and mostly in IM form...I stayed away from those crazy boards.

You Wanna Be Angry? Be Angry at this(Updated):

Paris Hilton, aside from being..well, we all know what she is. She is serving a reduced sentence of a minimum of 23 days(from 45) because of some rule about reduced sentence time for good behavior.

Now, I'm all for inmates "playing nice" and the like, but isn't it customary for them to actually spend time IN jail before having their sentence reduced?  I mean, of all the people that would get off for "good behavior", I  don't see Paris Hilton as a prime suspect.

I was going to place a picture of that new "art" exhibit featuring her in dead pose...but on second thought, I'll let you keep your lunches.

Update: Unfortunately, Paris is apparently getting the soft-touch, as she'll be private isolation for the duration of her sentence.  I just don't get it.  I hate the fact that celebrities can break the law and endanger lives, but when it comes to their jailtime they're treated differently than the rest of us.  She's not going to learn the same lesson she would if she was in gen-pop. ugh...

Enjoy the Sweeps Finale stunts as TV viewing as we know it ends and we make way for Summer programming!

Love Never Blows Up and Gets Killed

Go Team Venture!!

As some of you may be aware, Season 2 of The Venture Bros. comes out today.  I'm not quite sure how to describe the Venture family...Johnny Quest on crack comes to mind.  All I can say is...check it out.  Here's 2 YouTube clips: Henchmen and Inappropriate Touching as well as some inner box art:

Some Thoughts on Drive

So, I watched the 2-day, 3 hour premiere of Drive.  It's a new series from Tim Minear(Wonderfalls) so I was obligated to give it a shot.  I'm happy to say that I enjoyed it.  I haven't been totally sucked in by the show yet, but it definitely has potential.  That and I'll watch just about anything with Nathan Fillion in it.  Let's hope this series gets more of a chance than Wonderfalls.

It's Time to Save the World!

That's right.  It's less than one week till Heroes returns!  They've saved the cheerleader, now it's time to "Save the World!"  And that 30 second promo they've been running leaves me with only about 20 or so questions.  But I'm sure most of the big questions will get some answers, that's one thing Heroes is great at: Giving viewers answers to whet their appetites with between shows.  With only 5 episodes left in the season, I have a feeling they're going to go out with a bang...

Night of the Living Homeless!

Finally, don't forget to check out this week's South Park, Night of the Living Homeless.  It's the last episode before the break, and looks to be a good one.

From the Official Press Release:

The homeless population is on the rise in an all-new "South Park" entitled, "Night of the Living Homeless," premiering on Wednesday, April 18 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Comedy Central.

Increasing numbers of homeless are eating, sleeping and asking for change all over South Park. While the adults are working on creative solutions to care for the homeless, the boys are busy solving the problem once and for all.

Hope everyone's having a good week.

~Drew

Bad Ideas, Horror Films and South Park, Oh My!

3 Films To Die For…

I am extremely excited about this.  The Afterdark Horrorfest occurred at quite the inconvenient time.  So I was unable to go out and see the marathon of crazy flicks.  The one they happened to release in theaters didn’t look quite as good as some of the others. But now they’re out on DVD, so I picked up 3 of them:

The Hamiltons seem to be the picture-perfect American family.  They are hardworking community member, giving to their local charities, attending town hall meetings and always respectful of their neighbors…except for the fact they usually end up killing them.

Tagline: The First Film To Use Real Bodies

Four medical students are pushed into working with human remains, while keeping emotionally stable. One of the students starts seeing images from one of the dead bodies. While struggling to keep science more important than sanity, mistakes are made, and the students start dying.

After a night of drunken exploits, Allison, Harris(Dominic Purcell of Prison Break), and Kira are chased and terrorized by the ghosts of a child pyromaniac, an ax murderer, and a rapist.

Sounds like fun, right?

 File Under: Bad Idea

Let’s create a bridge that’s almost a mile above the Colorado River, put a glass floor on it, and call it a “Tourist Attraction.”  Am I the only one who sees this as a bad idea?  I mean, do these people know how overweight Americans are?  I imagine a lot of them still want to visit the Grand Canyon.  And presented with the options of going to the bottom of the canyon via mule or standing over it with minimal effort, I wonder which one they’re going to choose?

 Next up, the “Airbus”:

This thing is massive…and ugly.  It looks like the elephant man of airplanes(no offense to anyone with elephantitis).  It seats 500 people, which is more than double your standard Boeing.  Wow…and I thought Coach was crowded before.  Just to give you an idea, here’s a chart(not pie, sorry):

 What is…The Snuke?!

Well, I’m glad you asked.  I felt compelled to inform as many people as possible about this weeks South Park episode, The Snuke. For those who don’t know, here’s the PR statement:

Hillary Clinton is in town for a big campaign rally in an all-new "South Park" on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 10:00 P.M. on Comedy Central

Cartman suspects the new Muslim student is behind a terrorist threat in an all-new "South Park" entitled, "The Snuke," premiering on Wednesday, March 28.

The clock is ticking as the citizens prepare for Hillary Clinton's big campaign rally. Every minute counts as Cartman uses his own methods to interrogate the suspect. But could the plan to target Hillary Clinton be just the tip of the iceberg?

‘Nuff Said.

300 Review, South Park Ramblings, GRINDHOUSE..AND Getting Tagged

300!

That was an amazing movie, I didn’t have a watch with me, so I had no concept of time, and the movie seemed to fly by. Let’s start with the visuals, since hearing about the film, I’ve been checking out the 300 comic, and as with Sin City, they did an amazing job keeping true to the comic. Everything was vibrant and crisp, and even the smallest details helped to enhance the scene. Then there were the creatures and the Persian Army, they did some amazing things here, none of which I’ll spoil. And yes, there was blood, LOTS of blood, but hey, it’s Sparta, what’re ya gonna do?

Next up, Acting & Story. As with the visuals, they kept close to the story as well, nothing new there where Frank Miller’s involved. I have to admit, aside from Leonidas, I half-expected the other Spartans to be one-word grunts on the whole. And though some of them didn’t have more than a handful of lines, they exuded the established essence of being a Spartan. All in all, the movie was great, although I have to admit there were some people in the theater that were slightly confused by the ending.

Da GRINDHOUSE

The greatest trailer was shown before 300, I have no words…there is only…

GRINDHOUSE

South Park, South Park, and More South Park!!!

Where to begin, so many South Park things… Well, first I found my way into the SPS Trivia game last week and faced some previous winners to win a Season 1 DVD w/ Commentary CD. Not too bad.

Season 9 came out on DVD just days before this week’s Season 11 Premiere, “With Apologies to Jesse Jackson”. Which was featured on CNN of all places... A great season with some good commentary followed by an all-new season of antics.

In closing on this section; South Park is good.

Steal From the Brits, Give to the Americans!

Say what you will, but I saw the first episode of the new BBC series, Robin Hood, and it’s pretty darn good. But then again a lot of British shows are good, SO good that lazy producers in Hollywood will buy the rights and create an “American” version of the show.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just dumb? I mean, we’re not talking about bringing La Madrasta from Telemundo and making it American. We’re talking about the British…who speak the same language as us. Is a lot of “Americanization” really necessary here? Like Life on Mars, about a cop from today who wakes up stuck in the 70s. I’m pretty sure the 70s weren’t that different across the pond.

Maybe it’s just me…

TAGGED!!!

It was bound to happen, I got Tagged by Ryan and am therefore required to think of 7 things you may not know about me.

  1. I'm a Real Estate agent. Call me!
  2. I have a bookshelf that is near capacity with DVDs, including 86 films and 82 TV series...I need a new shelf.
  3. My favorite food to grab if I'm in a hurry is Sushi.
  4. I have every book in Brian Lumley's Necroscope series. Awesome, AWESOME! series. I also have a few of his short story collections.
  5. I have knocked myself unconscious by jumping into a doorjam.
  6. I have a HUGE comic collection. Spanning 2 filing cabinets a bookshelf and about 4 unsorted bags from recent weeks.
  7. I've been to over 40 big name comedy shows in the past 4 years.

Now I'm free, and can be released back into the wild. Oh, and I have to tag 3 people...so, MidwestRocker, Henrynhenry, simpsonzfreak13

More Movie Sequels You Werent Aware Of

The Shrek Hits The Fan

I’m sure you’re all aware that they’ve already got a Shrek film coming out this year. Well, apparently they also have Shrek 4 slated for 2010, and Shrek the Halls(a tv special) due this Christmas. Finally, Puss in Boots is getting his own spin-off in 2010 as well. While the first one was great, and the second one was ok, how much longer will they milk this? More importantly, when will Mike Myers appear in FRONT of the camera again?

I Came, I SAW, I Walked Away…

Yes, we all love gory horror movies. But enough is enough. We need to band together and stop seeing SAW films. Otherwise we’ll be stuck watching them for at least 5 more years. Mind you, I haven’t seen SAW III, but I assume Jigsaw died or almost died at the end. When’s that cancer gonna finish the job? I mean it’s not like they haven’t established that his apprentice is nuckin’ futs. I mean, I knew that in the second one.

SAW IV (due this Halloween no doubt)

House of Re-Animator

That’s right kiddies, Dr. Herbert West is back. Directed by Stuart Gordon and starring Jeffrey Combs, this looks to be an interesting film to say the least. When there's a death in the White House, "re-animator" Herbert West is brought in to bring the corpse back to life. Also starring William H. Macy as the President, and George Wendt as the VP. Not sure which one of them dies, but I’m hoping it’s Macy, if only to see him as a zombie.

House of Re-Animator (due in 200

We Off to See the Wizard…The Wonderful Wizard of Gore!

Ok, now this one’s a doozy.

From WizardofGoretheMovie.com:  “Wizard of Gore” is the story of a master illusionist who performs at underground venues, selecting female volunteers from his rave-like audiences. To their hysteria, it appears he’s dismembered their bodies, but his sleight of hand has fooled them. The next day however, female bodies show up dead from the same wounds on stage. Investigators are baffled, and the chase to find the killer begins.

This is a remake of the 1970s cult hit of the same name, directed by H.G. Lewis. Starring Crispin Glover, Bijou Phillips, Kip Pardue, Brad Dourif, Jeffrey Combs, and the Suicide Girls.

Wizard of Gore(Due…Soon. As of last month, it was still in Post-Prod according to IMDB)

Are You There God? It’s Me Evan...

Yes, apparently God is taking another vacation. And out of all the people in all the world, he picks the co-worker of the last guy he picked. What are the odds?!! Steve Carrell’s funny and all, but I don’t think this movie really needs to be made.

(Due 2007)

Finally, Hiatus Over!

The Doctor is in!

Although it’s a little late, I just got my next-to-last Christmas present, Doctor Who Series 2 on DVD. Sure they show it on the Sci-Fi Channel now, and yes it does have a high price tag($70), but it’s worth every penny. The discs are loaded with commentaries(some of which are in-video, with a Picture-in-picture of the commentators), outtakes, bloopers, and video diaries. Now, all this alone makes for a great DVD set, but more than that, it’s the stories. Whether the Doctor and Rose are saving Queen Victoria from a werewolf in 1800s Scotland, to finding themselves stuck on planet orbiting a black hole somewhere around the year 43,000, they’re always moving, and always fighting the good fight.

Doctor Who Series 2: 9/10

Heroes, and Prisoners, and Jack, Oh My!

The new season of 24 started last week, with a bang no less. It’ll be interesting to see where this Day goes. Seems like Jack has quite a few tough calls coming up, least of which is whether to truly trust the mysterious Assad(played brilliantly by Alexander Siddig[whom, I just found out, is the nephew of Malcolm McDowell]). I also am enjoying having some new blood in the Oval Office, Wayne Palmer hasn’t really established himself as the authority in the room yet, and I don’t trust Tom Lennox as far as I can throw him. All in all, it’s shaping up to be quite a day for Jack. I have to admit, I’ve always wondered if all his days are this bad, or it’s just every once in a while.

This coming Monday brings 2 of my favorite shows back. First, Heroes, which has recently been picked up for a second season, seems like it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Will Peter ultimately be the cause of destruction he’s trying to stop? Will the mysterious Claude be of any help? Will HRG finally get his hands dirty in all this? And will Hiro find that Sword?!! I don’t know, but I’ll definitely be tuning in to find out.

Also on Monday, Prison Break returns. Talk about a long wait…I’m glad they decided to come back early, the cliffhanger-ish ending left a lot of things up in the air. Least of all the fact that Michael and Linc are seemingly trusting of the recently defected Agent Kellerman. From what I’ve seen of the descriptions of upcoming episodes, and the previews, it seems like the brothers are going to finally stop running, and start fighting. I think this is great. Not that I didn’t like the series before, but up until now, they’ve pretty much been on the defensive. It’ll be nice to see what they’ve got up their sleeves(tattoos and all) to take “the Corporation” down.

Is That Poe on my Shoe?

Finally, tonight’s Masters of Horror looks to be immaculate. Not a word to be thrown around lightly. The Black Cat is directed by Stuart Gordon(Writer/Director of Re-Animator) and stars Dr. Herbert West himself, Jeffrey Combs as E.A. Poe. The story is centered around an Edgar Allen Poe down on his luck and short on ideas. He is tormented by a black cat that will either destroy him, or inspire him to write one of his most famous stories. I can only speak for myself, but I am really looking forward to this one.

All in all, It’s going to be an exciting week.

FilmSpot.com?!?!

Can it be...movietome v2.0???

I'm just starting to navigate around, it seems pretty cool(set up a lot like mp3.com)  All I know is, I'm level 1, and a Mogwai(which is just TOO cool, )  You can add a summary...but I don't see much in the way of references and allusions to other films, notes, etc.  So we'll see how it goes...

Check it out Here

Hope everyone is getting their list of Holiday shopping slashed down a bit.

No TV and no 360 make Drew something, something

Now I Know How The Turkey Feels…

Hope everyone had a great Turkey day.  Instead of the usual Thanksgiving antics, I wound up landing in the emergency room to get my appendix out.  No food, barely any water, and no quality tv to speak of, so Thanksgiving could’ve gone better.  But at least I won’t need that done again in the future, and I got a big goodie bag from my Dad’s Thanksgiving.

Clerks 2! Clerks 2!

Yes, it’s finally coming out on DVD.  I can’t wait it should be quite awesome, not to mention that An Evening with Kevin Smith: Evening Harder comes out tomorrow as well, so that should keep me busy for at least a day.   Seems like only yesterday it was on the big screen, but such is the case with movies anymore.  No box office staying power.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?  I know I am…

Also coming to DVD this Tuesday(in Canada,  why do they get all the good stuff?) is Are You Afraid of the Dark Season 2.  I LOVED this show as a kid, and I’m excited it’s coming out, thankfully Canadia is also Region 1, so don’t forget to get out there and relive some childhood scariness with the Midnight Society.

Thoughts on Clerks 2, and Much, Much More!

Clerks 2: The Re-Clerkening

What a truly great movie. Honestly, it was one of the best movie experiences I’ve had in a long while. I can’t remember the last movie that I laughed the entire way through. Not only was it great to see what Dante & Randal are up to, but all the original elements are in this movie. Everything from the dialog to Kevin Smith’s personal touches throughout(there are a ton of scattered slogans hidden everywhere). The movie also had heart, which is something missing from a lot of today’s theater fare.

I also caught a behind-the-scenes of it on VH1, it looks like they had a blast making the film. Maybe that’s the key…if more movie crews have fun during the shoot, the better the film will turn out.

Here’s a fan made trailer for the movie that’s just hysterical: Clerks 2:Smith vs Siegel

Attn: All TV on DVD Directors

I’ve noticed an aggravating trend that occurs in a lot of TV DVDs, mostly live action shows. They don’t make the various title sequences their own chapter. I don’t know about you, but if I shell out the money for a whole season of TV, I don’t need to watch the intro 20 times. It’s the first thing I think of when I pop a DVD into my 360, I tend to wait for the second episode to find out, but it’s usually worth the wait.

2006: Comic-con or Geeks Gone Wild

Now don’t get me wrong, I’d give just about anything to go to Comic-con in San Diego, but for the first time ever, it’s being broadcast on TV. Sort of. G4 aired 2 hours of live coverage on Friday, which was great, and will be airing more on the subject Monday and Tuesday on Attack of the Show. Maybe it’s G4’s segment producers, but for all the cool stuff they covered, they managed to let their Geek flag fly at the same time.

I mean it’s cool that there’s a guy so hardcore about impersonating Wolverine that he got tattoos between his knuckles, but do we really need the up-close grooming ritual? Or the “Day in the Life” segment on being a stormtrooper? Not to mention the camera guys often spent more time sizing up the cosplayers rather than whatever the show was focusing on.

Movie Sequels You Weren’t Aware Of

As a result of watching the above-mentioned coverage, I learned of quite a few crazy sequels coming out. Some seem to have little to due with their predecessor.

28 Weeks Later...: A sequel to the great 28 Days Later, the plot is as follows: Britain has been emptied. There's nobody there. It's completely dead. And six months later the Americans arrive to reboot it back up again. But, of course, something goes wrong…(Due in 2007)

As you can see, doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing much of the original cast(the 2 that were left anyway)

The Hills Have Eyes 2: A group of National Guard trainees find themselves battling against a vicious group of mutants on their last day of training in the desert. (2007…again)

Again, no cross over, but at least the ending of the last one let us know there were more mutants out there. Not sure if this qualifies as remake or sequel, since there was a Hills Have Eyes 2 made in 1985.

Bubba Nosferatu: This prequel to Bubba Ho-Tep finds Elvis shooting a film in Louisiana when he runs afoul of a coven of she-vampires.(2006, yay!)

Hail to the King, Baby!

Can’t go wrong here, Bruce Cambell reprises his role as Bubba(if you haven’t seen Bubba Ho-Tep, get up, got out, and rent it). Paul Giamatti plays the Colonel. This I might see if it gets to theaters.

The Evil Dead: A Book of the Dead, as well as translations of the text that can summon demons, lay in wait at an archaeologist's cabin in the woods.(Due ???)

This qualifies under remake, although it could also be categorized under BAD IDEA. I say this because there is only one man who will ever be Ash, and that’s Bruce Campbell. No argument can be made otherwise, sorry.

Hope everyone’s doing well, I’m getting ready for a 2-week long work stint, running the office. Wish me luck.

Out on a Whim

Shiloh Shirt Stuff

Take a good look people. Because apparently this shirt is the hottest baby item out there. Why? Because Angelina’s baby wore it. Since when is that reason enough for a fad? Ugh, I’m disillusioned. Is this what it’s come down to? That kid’s going to have Paparazzi following her till the day she dies. Sheesh…

What’s the Greatest Gift a Dad Could Get?

Why, being taken to Hooters on Father’s Day of course! While watching some Comedy Central the other day a commercial came on giving kids the perfect, cheapest gift ever. For fifty cents, Dad gets 10 wings and a “beverage.” The commercial then proceeds to show happy kids and dads enjoying that Hooters atmosphere.

Can I just say how utterly degrading I found that commercial? I mean a deal is one thing. But shoving it down kids throats as this great idea? That’s just wrong. Also, Mom was nowhere to be seen in the commercials. Figures…

 Stop Being So Racist!

Ok, so I had some friends over the other day, and I was appalled at the racism within their hearts. So I reach out to all of you and ask to end the discrimination…Mix Your Cereals Together! Do not fear the mixing of two cereals, say Chex and Frosted Flakes, or maybe even a threesome, Rice Krispies, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes.

Just remember the key to effective mixing: If you’re using a cereal that is buoyant(cheerios) you need something heavy to weigh it down(chex, frosted flakes, etc)

 Happy Snacking

While All Saints Day is in limbo...

Doc: You know what they say: People in glass houses sink sh... sh... sh... ships.
Rocco: I got to buy you a proverb book or something, because this mix 'n' match **** got to go.
Doc: What?
Connor: Well, a penny saved is worth two in the bush, isn't it?
Murphy: And don't cross the road if you can't get out of the kitchen.

Such a good movie. Unfortunately, I'm not sure on the status of the sequel right now. Haven't heard anything as of late, and imdb's got jack.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day.

The Finales are coming, the Finales are coming!!!

I think in the next couple of days, I'll be writing up some reviews for this seasons finales.  If I can find some spare time.  Anyway, on with the blog!

Who’s Up For a Spring Fling?

Come on, it’ll be fun. On the tv.com homepage, there’s a button called “Spring Fling” which links to chats for many of the major finales this season. Including(but not limited to): Lost, 24, Alias, Prison Break, House, etc. as well as a general tv.com chat. I’ll definitely be in the Lost one on Wednesday, who’s with me?!

When is Version 4.0 a Bad Thing?

When it’s Die Hard 4.0. It’s been 12 years since John McClaine “yippie-kai-yai-ay’d” (sp?), and Bruce Willis decides now is the time for his return? This is almost as depressing as Rocky 14 and Indiana Jones 9.

When There's Trouble, Call DW!

That's right, Darkwing Duck is coming to DVD on August 29.  I loved watching this show after school as a kid.  It's still on every now and then on Disney.  I think it'd be fun to see it again.  Hopefully I'll be able to rent it.

The Wii-mote

I sincerely hope this is an isolated incident, but while watching G4, they were talking about the Wii’s remote. They casually referred to it as the “Wii-mote” which to me, is just hilarious. But at the same time, Wii should not become a prefix. I mean really, that’s just wii-tarded.

And Now For the Re-re-re-release of the Original Star Wars...on DVD!

Ugh, does George Lucas really need more money?  Apparently so, because in September, he plans on releasing an unaltered version of the trilogy on DVD.  No price has been set as of yet, but I can only imagine.  Story here.

Taking the Laundry List to Gamestop

So, now that I’ve collected myself from E3 and its aftermath/wake, I’ve finally pinned down a few games to reserve for the coming months. Here are the main few coming out over the summer:

LOTR: battle for Middle Earth 2: July 5 It’s been a good long while since I’ve bought a RTS game. And I’m a sucker for LOTR games.

Prey: July 10 What can I say, it looks like an absolutely stung FPS. As well as some of the physics look outrageous(running up walls, the teleportation mechanics).

Ninety Nine Nights: Aug 1 Again, stunning graphics, and the fighting system intrigues me.

Enchanted Arms: Q3 2006 A sci-fi RPG from Ubisoft that’s being ported over(finally!) from Japan. The preview from E3 looked pretty sweet too.

Saint’s Row: Q4 2006 A next-gen GTA? Sounds good to me. It’ll fill the void between Crackdown and Gears of War, if it comes out on time.
