The dance/rave/club sounds of the their first great Cd are not represented in one single track here. The band is also missing their lead guitarist who quit/was fired after the CD was recorded. Clearly the band decided to go in a new direction; unfortunately the band isn't quite up to the task of pulling off the brash rock sound they seem to aiming for. There's something of the stone roses in the tunes of this CD, but at no point does the band achieve the high points that that band was capable of. I suupose we cant blame the band for trying a new sound.

Just be warned that this CD sounds very little like their last one.

Blondie Rock/Pop
""
For those of us who were around in the late 70's and early 80's in the USA, Blondie was a breath of fresh air. The first 2 albums are quite original even when heard today -- genuine NYC punk meets 60's pop.

Parallel Lines is a cool pop triumph that deserves its continued popularity: a studio effort that sounds great with every listen. The later pop singles like Call Me were fun and Blondie was always good at making sly ironic fun lyrics.

Their hit single "Atomic" pre-dates rave music and yet it is a perfect rave-up song. In the UK this song continues to be heard over and over again in the clubs. It sounds like the band was just tooling around in the studio with various effects but the resulting track is quite memorable.

Blondie has made 2 CD's since their hey-day and that is unfortunate. All of the tracks on these CD's are almost immediately forgettable. Its a shame really, because the group is still talented. But whatever is was that made them a band seems gone. Blondie should be remembered for the great music they've made.

Boston Boston

Boston is not my kind of music but I am continually impressed by the sound of these tracks. There is a lush but not over-processed treatment to everything, the guitars, the vocals and even the drums. I was around when this album first came out and I disliked Boston in the context of all of the other bands that were hacks (like Styx and Foreigner). Now that time has passed, it is clear that Boston's first album really was something special and not easily repeated, If you're bored, check it out.

Rendezvous Luna
""
It sounds a bit different than previous CD's. There's a pleasant bassy-guitar sound in most of the tracks that makes them sound warmer and more "live" than usual. The vocal tracks are also pushed up to the front -- again a good thing because the lyrics are great.

Why isnt this CD their best? There's a few tracks that are too quiet and drowsy-sounding for my tastes, but they aren't so bad. I'm thinking of The Owl and Pussycat, Broken Chair, and Motel Bambi. The falsetto voice in Broken Chair I could do without.

All of the other tracks are top-rate. Still at Home is a great track that builds nicely. Buffalo Boots drives forward with great guitar-work and drums. Cindy Tastes of BBQ is classic Luna -- ironic, witty and intelligent. The re-do of Astronaut has the warmer guitar-sound that all of the other tracks have, and it is a fine revision of one of Luna's best "pop" songs. I just wonder why it needed a revision at all.

Luna is a great band and I am speechess that this will be their last CD. They'll never find this chemistry again if they disperse to other bands. I suspect with no proof that they must not like working with each other.

Reviewers who say Luna's music on this CD could be "just a bit better" are missing the point that this is already great music.

its got a spacey campy french-pop sound that is very catchy. This is not deep music, and reminds me of the B-52's; well, if the B-52's were French. If someone were to say this music is pointless, they are actually missing the point.

It is great frivilous music that will have you humming complex melodies. Just dont listen to the words too much.
