XF Writers 101

To aid people wanting to play the Surviour game in the XF forum I thought I would do a quick lowdown on the major writers to jog your memories and aid selection for voting.

Lets start with the bigwigs shall we...

CHRIS CARTER - Series creater and therefore considered by some to be a god. He has however also achieved a name for himself as being a pr1ck about continuity and character development. He has a had a hand in most of the Myth arc eps and is responsible for MOTW's like Triangle, Irresitble and Syzygy but also the much disliked Space.

FRANK SPOTNITZ - A major writer from early on that stuck with the show. He is most known for being the man behind the Myth Arc but he also wrote a few stand alones such as Alone and Leonard Betts.

MORGAN AND WONG - A great writing pair that wrote alot of the early MOTW episodes such as ICE and Squeeze. They left the show at the end of season 2 but then returned for a while in season 4 with Never Again and Home. They also dabbled in the Myth Arc in that they are responsible for One Breath.

VINCE GILLIGAN - Gilligan wrote many many episodes for the show starting way back with softlight and was still writting episodes in season 9. Most of his stories are very intense for example Paper Heats and Pusher however he is also responsible for 2 great comedies Small Potatoes and Dreamland.

JOHN SHIBAN - wrote a number of episodes for the show depersed throughout the series. His episodes tend to be a little strange and quiet dark. For example he is responsible for Teso Dos **** Elegy and Badlaa

DARIN MORGAN - The funny man among the writing team. He is resposible for most of the shows comedy episodes including the first Humbug. He also helps write some more serious episodes including Blood and Host (in which he played the flukeman).

DAVID DUCHOVNEY - Not happy being just a star of the show David started contributing to the writing of the Myth Arc episodes as early on as Colony. In season 7 he also wrote to stand alone episodes The Unnatural (Black Sun) and Hollywood AD.

HOWARD GORDON - One of the main writters for the show in the first 5 seasons. Originally working with Gansa and then on his own to write very original episodes such as Fresh Bones, Dod Kalm and D.P.O.

ALEX GANSA - An early writer on the show working as part of a writing team with Gorgon. He is responsible for episodes like Conduit, Lazarus and Ghost in the Machine. He also introduced us all to Max Fenig in Fallen Angel.

JEFF BELL - A writer for the show from season 6 wrote a range of stand alone episodes including The Goldberg Variation, Alpha and Salvage.

DAVID AMANN - Wrote a number of stand alones from season 7 on wards. His reseme includes Rush, Chimera and Hellbound.

STEVEN MAEDA - Started writing late in the life of the show episodes he is responsible for include Vienen, 4D and Audrey Pauley.

GREG WALKER- Another later episode writer responsible for episodes such as Brand X, Sure Kill and Empedocles.

The problems derived from time off..

haha so I have a 2 week break from work (I teach 8 year olds) for easter....in that time I have only 3 things that I really have to do -

Plan some work for the first few weeks back.

Mark the English writing task I set my class in the last week of school.

Paint and tile the bathroom.

So why, I ask myself, with the first week of that holiday time gone, have I not even remotely started one of those task. And the only answers I can come up with are a) the lure of my friends that work crazy bar staff hours, alcohol and 9 ball pool is far to strong and b) I'm addicted to this darn forum!

The biggest problem with this though is that, while I care enough to register it as a problem....I clearly do not care enough to do anything about it!

procrastination issues.

Wow I have problems...and it doesn't make sense as a student when it's practically the law to procrastinate I didn't, I worked my little butt off. Appart from my minor internet addiction and 3 nights a week drinking requirement I didn't waste a whole lot of time and barely even watched any TV...except of cause diagnosis murder for house chore wagers purposes.

Now however when I am being paid to work, and when 29 8 year olds (plus parents) require me to have done so......I feel the need to spend time pondering which XF character I could live without!! I have issues.

XF for comfort wtf

Ok some I have this virus thing that everyone is getting and therefore couldn't go out for usual firday night fun. But instead found myself under the duvet watching XF and not even warm and fuzzy episodes like the gold berg variation. So I had to ask myself at what point in my life did I stop watching the land before time as a pick me up when sick and start watching Donnie Phester try to kill Scully for the second time.....and more to the point what does that say about me! Hehe! Anyway bedtime.
