v8 Supercars... BATHURST 1000! HELL YES!

Here I am, finding myself sitting here at my computer, listening to the sounds of the V8 hum on the television.  Its Race Weekend in Bathurst.  The Bathurst Supercheap Auto 1000.  Yes I am a rev head, yes I would love a hot lap around the great Mount Panorama.

Mount Panorama, Bathurst is one of those places that is totally unpredictable, you live 60 seconds at a time, and you hope to hell that it treats you right, and you actually finish the 161 laps of the 6.2 kilometre course.  Coming down Conrod straight heading toward the Chasers, is the fastest part of the track, where the likes of Mark Skaife, in the Supercheap Auto v8 Holden Commodore hit maximum speed at approximately 300km/hour.  As those v8’s thunder past, you feel the rush that the drivers feel, its like this symphony in a huge concert hall playing, they feel like home, and then you realise that it’s the drivers driving their cars, that have been tuned, and fine tuned, and checked and double checked, driving around the awesomely unpredictable mountain.

Race Weekend in Bathurst is huge, the 2 towns on either side of Bathurst are completely booked out, Bathurst itself is booked out, and here I am still in my lounge room.  However, I do thank Channel Ten, (yes I did say that) for showing an awesome broadcast of the event.

Peter Brock, 9 time winner of Bathurst, now passed away, was King Of The Mountain, he was in racing terms, Peter Perfect, he was the ultimate driver, the ultimate racer, and the ultimate strategist, and he had the ultimate cars.  Bathurst is a huge Holden fans vs. Ford fans, the rivalry has never shone through as much as the 2005 Bathurst 1000, when Greg Murphy, K-Mart Racing Team (Holden) and Marcus Ambrose, (Ford) blew up at one another and were starting their own boxing match on the track.

To win Bathurst, it takes guts, good performance, fitness, perfection, and focus… Bathurst is said to separate the men from the boys when they race, and that is exactly what it does.

I love Bathurst, its one of those places where it is totally unpredictable and its awesome, I love it … the rush, the adrenaline, its spectacular, it IS the best thing to watch on television, that sheer rush you get from sitting there watching it is just … to hard to put into words.

John Farnham is a gentleman. His music is awesome, it ranges from pop to rock, depending on the mood; you can listen to him in the car, keeping fit, or just lying on the floor.
He is the kind of guy who is easy listening, yet so powerful. Live performances, you just cant go wrong, they are awesome, and very very powerful.... Everything from Sadie, to Trouble from the Whispering Jack album, then to No Aphrodisiac from the I Remember When I Was Young - Songs From The Great Australian Song Book. Everything this man does is superb!
Go and get any of John's albums right now, and crank up the volume!

Track Review

Hallelujah
"Timeless"
I first heard this song, on an episode of The West Wing, it was when someone had died, and the woman that loved him, was in tears because she had lost the one that she had loved. The beginning is awesome, the end is awesome, and the lyrics are true. I must admit that it is the type of song that is totally addictive. I have the problem where i like a song for so long, i'll listen to it all the time... i mean all the time. its addictive, simple as that.
