So, where the heck did Summer go?

I think we here in Northern Michigan have had close to a week of summer like weather... and that's it. This week has been cold and windy. ITS FREAKING JULY. I should not have to wear a hooded sweatshirt and jeans in JULY. Hell, at the National Cherry Fest earlier today and yesterday, the (traditionally) cooling tent, a place where you can go to get into some air conditioning, has now turned into a warming tent. Freaking crazy.

Things at work are still crazy as ever, I won't bore you with the details. After really enjoying season one of True Blood, I'm really liking where season two is going, the week break is killing me though.

Anyways, sad news. My Xbox 360 has kicked the bucket. It's currently on its way to Texas for repair. I figured its time to give my Wii some love, so picked up a couple of rentals on the way home tonight.

Anyone twitter? I've been using it for a little over a year now, but lately it's really beginning to blow up. Find me at http://www.twitter.com/RadioFish
It's really cool to use with our radio station. Plus, it gives our listeners another chance to connect with us. If they are on the run, they can tweet us their requests.

Well, until next time. Thanks for stopping by.

Swamped as usual

I should try and blog more often. I never thought that my shift switch would cut my free time like it has. Though being in a career where all the large corporate companies (mainly Clear Channel) are cutting jobs like it's a competition, I should feel lucky to be in a locally owned radio cluster. Since the last time I blogged, we've had an air-staffer leave, and then added two more to the force. Also, in early March, we learned that our voice guy (Brian James, based out of Arizona) passed away due to a heart attack in the middle of the night. It hurt more to learn that he was only 48. Here is a little humorous video that Brian had done to put a face to the voice if you've ever heard him. We've since hired a new voice guy, and I think the station sounds pretty damn good with him. There is a message board for Michigan radio and TV, and we usually are always ripped on for being the pop station, despite strong ratings. But lately, a few people have praised recent changes in airstaff and music, and all of us here are feeling pretty good about it. From doing my airshift from 2pm to 7pm, to off-air stuff, I've been busy as hell. Doing a bunch of commercial production (haha, it seems that whenever I hear a commercial on our station, it's me) to now getting into a weekly club gig on Friday nights. If you're ever in the area (Coverage Map though you can hear us anywhere really north of Cadillac, Mi) and you think you can stomach Top 40, then tune in. Or check us out online where we stream.

As for the site, I still try and log on each day to keep up, but now that FG is done for the summer, it may be every other day. The LOST finale blew my mind as expected, and I can't wait for the final season to start in January.

And just because, I'll post the games I'm looking forward to in the coming months.

Prototype - June 9th
NCAA Football '10 - July
Madden NFL '10 - August
The Beatles: Rock Band - September

Movin' on up!

Lots of changes going on here at work, and I am involved in them, but for good actually. I am being moved to afternoons, which is actually great for me. Don't get me wrong, I love working nights, hell, it's all I've done at my two full-time gigs. But I feel that, and evidently the powers that be here do as well, I am ready to move up to a bigger and better shift. Plus it'll open up my nights for some uninterrupted, un-DVR'd TV viewings! March 16th is the day, I can't wait.

Anyways, news on the TV.com front, Family Guy will be new for the next 4 weeks in a row (no joke). Maybe having my nights open in the next week and a half will allow me to go back and do some maintenance on the FG guide. There are a few episodes that are lacking content, and I just never got around to fixing that. Also, I won't have to avoid this place (and a few other message boards that I visit) on Wednesday nights until I've watched LOST, since I'll be able to watch it as it airs. This season has been totally crazy, and I love it. It's gonna be hard to wait two weeks for a new episode.

Gaming-wise, I haven't purchased anything (retail) since buying Fallout 3 in December, and I really haven't had the urge to. I did however get the DLC packs for Fable II, Fallout 3 (#2 should be hitting this month), and GTA IV. I'm also constantly expanding my library of songs in Rock Band 2. Speaking of Rock Band, the news hit today that the Beatles Rock Band game will drop on 09-09-09, so I am definitely looking forward to that. As I've mentioned before, I haven't made any retail purchases of games in about three months now. Though I have a feeling that will come to an end next week, as Resident Evil 5 comes out, as well as another game I've had my eye on, Madworld for the Wii.

Laters,

Busy

Sorry I haven't blogged much. I've been busy with work.

Anyways, Family Guy returned this past week... only to go on another 2 week break. At least it has been confirmed that we'll get four weeks in a row of new episodes in March.

Been watching Lost, and watching it again, and again. This season has been crazy nuts. I love it. I recently purchased Seasons 3 and 4 on Blu-ray. The detail is fantastic, you can see the friggin pores on their faces. Can't wait for them to release seasons 1 and 2. The only other show I really make an appointment to DVR (as I work at night so I can't watch them as they air) is The Big Bang Theory, and that isn't disappointing me either.

Hmmm, other than that, like I said, work has been busy as heck. We currently only have four full-time airstaffers for two big FM stations, so everyone is pulling doubles. I guess it beats being out of a job.

Until next time

Whoa, I'm blogging!

I don't know if it was just that I never could think of a topic to blog on, or that I just couldn't find the time. Maybe a little of both. Anyways, I'm still here and kickin'. Work has been busy lately, though things are beginning to slow down now that we are into late fall/winter. Not as many live remote broadcasts, and now that election season is over, we don't have to worry about getting a buy for a darned political ad every 5 minutes. We've been extra busy these past few weeks because, as of Friday (11/14) our flagship station is now streaming online. Getting it set up was a bit of a chore, having to go through about 5 different people just to get something approved, or to get an answer on something was annoying, so hopefully things will calm down now that we have it up and running. Anyways, enough of my bickering about work, heh.

My current favorite show is still The Big Bang Theory, I probably have watched the episodes on my DVR multiple times over, and it still doesn't get old to me. Family Guy has been somewhat strong for the past couple episodes, the latest one in particular "The Man With Two Brians" is pulling an 8.5 with the users, and, at least in my mind, is one of the stronger episodes in the past few years. This Sunday (November 16th), "Tales of a Third Grade Nothing" marks the last new episode until some time in December. There are no new episodes on November 23rd (because of 24), or the 30th (not sure why).

I purchased a couple limited edition Family Guy lithographs, one for "Something, Something, Something, Dark Side", and one for "Blue Harvest." I've only got one in so far

Gaming-wise, this time of the year is always brutal. It seems like a ton of new games are coming out all at the same time. In the past few weeks, I've purchased Dead Space, Fable II, Gears of War 2, and Call of Duty: World at War. Not to mention there are still games I want! Yikes. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, and Fallout 3, which are already out, and Left 4 Dead, which is out next week. As for my favorite sports teams... at least I still have the Pistons and Wings.

Oh, and I almost forgot, new banner.

Peace,

-Fish

Hey, you can call me Fish. Well, what else can I say? I'm a 24 year old Radio DJ here in frigid Northern Michigan. I am a HUGE Detroit sports fan, Go Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Wings! also a Michigan Wolverine fan for life! Other than that, ummm...I dont know. Oh, I collect football cards, and I love video gaming too. Those are probably my two main hobbies. Also, I am a huge Mac geek. Video games wise, I like almost anything. Zelda is the best franchise ever made!
