Don't Stop Believing
It's been a while since my last blog- in fact I've only posted 3 this year- sign of time I think.
Lots happened since I last posted:
I graduated uni and got a really good mark, which I was pleased with! My actual graduation ceremony is in a few weeks. I'm incredibly sad to leave uni though; I'm back at home and having to job hunt which is not fun (although technically I haven't actually started to job hunt yet, I'm having a week off to unpack before I start looking!). Living at home is also not much fun, I miss my freedom ![]()
I also passed my driving test a few weeks ago, which I am so happy about. I've been taking lessons on and off for about 2 years so it's a relief to have finally passed!
I gave up a few of my guides here on the site; Chris Moyles, Celebrity Love Island, and The Xtra Factor. The ones I've kept on editorship are mostly completed guides. I just can't bet bothered any more, the only part of the site I really use anymore is the blogs etc and that's because of you guys. Contributing just seems a bit futile when the site has become quite user unfriendly over the last year. (no offence to those who do, I think you're amazing for being able to carry on contributing.)
TV Stuff
Lots to talk about here!
Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters both recently finished here. Neither had amazing seasons, though B&S was better. The DH finale was quite disappointing, there was no element of surprise and the cliff-hanger of who Mike was to marry was very dull as I really don't care.
I got the second season of The Wire on DVD and watched it in a week. It was just as addictive and amazing as season 1 but different in many ways. Season 3 has started here and I'll watch it when I've stored a few episodes on record, so I don't suffer withdrawal symptoms whilst watching the show! (Its easier to not watch the show between seasons as the seasons are fairly self contained.)
Greek has also finished its season (Chapter 4 officially). Another excellent season, I love the way this show deals with the grey area as well as being so light and fluffy!
Chuck and Ugly Betty have both just started here (I know, ridiculously late!) both have been fairly strong starters though since I haven't seen either in over a year, its been a little hard to get back into them.
I've also just started Dexter and it looks to be having another excellent season. I'm loving the pregnancy storyline and Dexter's new antagonist Miguel Prado.
Scrubs finished a little while ago. The finale was very sad and it's hard to say goodbye to the original Scrubs. Not sure if the new medical school set Scrubs will be any good, I do get renewing the show on financial reasons (so many shows are cancelled because of money so why not the other way around?) but I'm not sure if Scrubs 2.0 will succeed. I'll probably give the first episode a chance though.
Samantha Who and My Name is Earl were cancelled this year
. I've never watched Earl religiously but it's a good show and it's a shame it never got its finale. With Samantha Who, the show lost its way this season but it has a fantastic cast, so it's a shame it was cancelled.
I watched the Glee pilot and its so amazing. Can't wait until later in the year when the rest of the season will air. Fox is naughty teasing us like this!(The blog title is from the song they sang in the pilot- it was so amazing!!)
Good to see more people around the site atm, even if they're not blogging ![]()
Thanks for reading.
Scrubs and The Wire
Another long time since I've blogged…
Site re-design
Urgh. The episode pages are awful, nothing is where you need it. Trivia/Quotes and Cast are hidden away in favour of Reviews on the episode summary page (especially annoying as 90% of the reviews on this site are garbage). Cast listings have disappeared from the show front page and instead, the most recent episode (or final episode) can be seen as soon as the page is loaded. This is especially annoying when trying to avoid spoilers, but really annoying when the final episode summary is the first thing you see of a show you've only just started watching. Unfortunately this means for shows, I'm not up-to-date with I have to stay completely away from on tv.com
sad sad sad.
The community seems nearly dead too, such a shame, it really saddens me, but I guess as soon as they had re-designed the site last summer we knew it was coming
Summer is here…
Well nearly! The clocks have gone forward here and its warm(ish) and (sometimes) sunny!! Woo!!
I've been watching a bucketload of TV…
Skins finished last week and after getting really good in the middle batch of episodes, the end was very lacklustre. The show has been recommissioned so the characters will get another outing but the writers really need to step it up and move away from this boring Freddie/Effy/Cook love triangle and the constant drinking/getting drugged up/throwing up and focus a little more on teen issues that made the first series so good.
One teen series that is excelling in this is The Inbetweeners. I caught the first series when it was repeated after Skins and I'm glad I did, it is seriously one of the funniest things I've ever seen, every episode has me laughing out loud!! It is a lot more realistic than Skins and I'm sure a lot more people can relate to the boys antics.
I didn't have to wait too long for the second series was aired here last Thursday and it was hilarious!
Brothers and Sisters is still enjoyable at the moment, doing what it usually does (family dinners, family fights!) I'm looking forward to the arrival of Ryan and the big two parter episode.
BBC2 bought The Wire recently and my sister loved it (as do most people who have seen it) so I decided it give it a chance and I'm glad I did as it is excellent. The language is foul and subtitles are a must, but if you can get over that, it's a wonderful show. The BBC are showing it at hyper-speed, with one episode a day on weekdays, so I'll watch the first season and get the rest on DVD, when I have some money
I've had a marathon catch-up of Scrubs season 8 this week as I'm on my Easter break, and whilst it's not as good as the early years it's a definite improvement on s7. The Scrubs-lite feel (each cast member misses a few episodes each) is a little weird admittedly, though it has made for some nice character moments. The episodes without JD are weird though. The interns who are plugging the gaps are on the whole likeable, at least once the season progresses, and although the show is getting a little teachy (everything is a lesson for the new interns) it is still proving enjoyable. I'm getting excited about the finale, though I really hope they finish the show after this season, I love Scrubs but its time to pt it out of its misery.
Samantha Who really is a weird show. It enjoyable enough I guess, but its not very memorable. Its not that good, it not very satisfying but I still keep watching it. Strange!
90210/One Tree Hill . I'm ashamed about these two but they are definitely guilty pleasures and they are both shown on Sunday at dinner time, making them about the only watchable thing on TV when we sit down to have dinner. I haven't completely lost my senses they are two of the most ridiculous TV shows out there.

Its been a long time...
I would like to say things have been too crazy to blog but in all honesty I just haven't felt like doing so and there is severe lack of blogging on the site already, so I haven't really felt like it
Life Stuff
So what's new with me? Well I handed in my dissertation a few weeks ago which is a relief but did mean lots of hard work. I've still got quite a few essays to do, so after a brief rest I've had to start back up with the work
I had my hair cut last week. It had got waaaaay long, the longest I've ever had it and even though I didn't get my hair cut that short- it feels super short atm waaah!!
I've been feeling a bit down of late. It might be the weather I don't know but my funks usually lift after awhile but I've been feeling like this for a while now. Hopefully the warmer (10 degrees!! Woo!!) will help!
TV Stuff
I'm actually watching quite a lot at the moment
Brothers and Sisters season 3: which I'm loving, the storylines have got a little ridiculous in places (new brother Ryan, Justin and Rebecca) but other stories more than make up for it.
Skins season 3: I was always quite hopeful about the cast change though I wasn't sure if I would actually watch the series this time round, but I am and I'm loving it, and I've long forgotton the old cast. The episodes can be a bit patchy but they're enjoyable nonetheless. The Inbetweeners series 1: I didn't catch this the first time round, and I didn't think it looked that funny but this show is hilarious, really genuinely funny, without having to resort too much to slapstick humour.
No Angels s1-3: I've got this show on DVD and I've forgotten just how damn good it is! I watched nearly all one series (7 episodes) in one day!Arrested Development s2-3: It felt soooo good to re-watch this show and I again blitzed through the episodes in not very long. The movie (without or without Michael Cera- hmph!) seems to be pushing ahead and I'm super excited for it
Movie Stuff
I've watched and bought and bunch of movie recently
I bought Forgetting Sarah Marshall which was typical Apatow humour but very funny all the same, Penelope which was just so sweet, and Little Miss Sunshine which absolutely brilliant. I've been waiting to watch it for ages and it was well worth the wait.
I've also seen Juno which was excellent, though I knew the story so it was a little spoiled for me, 40 year Old Virgin which was so sweet and really funny, American Pie: Band Camp which was actually surprisingly good, and He's Just Not that Into You which I absolutely loved, great cast= great movie!
That's it for this blog I think, I'm writing this on a library computer and its very annoying as the space bar is working that well and the side arrow buttons are inverted so they do the opposite action as do the Home and End buttons v. annoying
Sorry for the lack of pics, more comp troubles
Thanks for reading
Where you lead I will follow...
First blog of the New Year. Not much to report really, some changes have been occurring on tv.com, the user menu thing has been changed, and the forum thingy is coming up on the UK website now. I've also gone up a level to Whammy!, its my first level increase for quite a while.
TV wise- I'm onto season 2 of Six feet Under but will probably only get the opportunity to watch a few more episode before I head back to uni, which is okay as it might be nice to stretch it out a little. I thoroughly enjoyed season 1.
I'm looking forward to Brothers and Sisters returning to UK screens on Thursday and Scrubs in the US tonight (I watch that one online) which is meant to be a real improvement on recent seasons.
Onto the main event...
Gilmore Girls
After nearly 8 months of watching Gilmore Girls nearly every weekday, it finally came to an end with the finale airing today. The finale wasn't perfect but I thought it was pretty amazing and oh so sad (yes I cried!) Thought the show had its up and downs, it was a truly wonderful show and I'm so glad I took a chance and watched the Pilot in May.
This show handled relationships so well, yet doing it in a funny and endearing manner. The show was remarkably strong in the detail and depth of its supporting characters who appeared throughout the show and were so integral to it.
My favourite relationships have to be between Lorelai and Rory (though lets face it mother/daughter relationships like that could only exist on TV and that's why it works so well!) Lane and Zach (wasn't sure about him replacing Dave as her love interest but they work perfectly together) Rory and Jess (great chemistry) and Lorelai and Luke( the ultimate TV relationship I think, just so perfect together.)
Seasons
Season 6- started okay, I thought the Lorelai/Rory estrangement was a good idea but the show lacked its magic and went downhill towards the end.
Season 7- it starts only okay, but towards the end it does get better and retains some of the old GG magic.
Season 5- I enjoyed this season and it had many highlights, but it wasn't as stand out for me as the earlier seasons
Season 4- I love a lot about this season but there were some difficult moments as it transitioned between school and university
Season 1- A fantastic start to the show, it has its problems, but is a lot of fun
Season 2- A brilliant season, a of great episodes and the show is on a more solid footing
Season 3- Maybe because it's the only season I've fully watched and chronologically but I think there is something wonderful about this season. The show is in its stride and its just a joy to watch
Top Ten Episodes
10. Lorelai? Lorelai?- Lorelai serenades Luke and a cute episode for Lane and Zach as she tells him to go on tour without her.
9. Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out- Jess returns, and has sorted his life out which is really nice to see but also manages to sort Rory's out as well.
8. That Damn Donna Reed- a sweet episode but most memorable for one of the best sexual tension moments between Lorelai and Luke!
7. The Lorelais' First Day at Yale- A sad episode but incredibly funny and sweet as well as Lorelai helps Rory settle into Yale.
6. Wedding Bell Blues- the 100th episode and a sweet re-wedding for Emily and Richard
5. They Shoot Gilmores Don't they?- I love the Stars Hollow episodes and this is a great one. The Dean/Rory break up was sad, but there's a sweet moment between Lorelai and Luke
4. The Bracebridge Dinner- The Inn hosts a dinner for the Stars Hollow residents; some sweet Rory/Jess moments.
3. A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving- lots of eating for the girls, plus some really sweet moments between Lane and Dave and Rory and Jess

Quickpost this image to Myspace, Digg, Facebook, and others!
2. Raincoats and Recipes- the Dragonfly's test run and the first Lorelai and Luke kiss; need I say more?
1. Those Are Strings, Pinocchio- Rory's graduation and she makes the sweetest speech to Lorelai and her grandparents.

Top Ten Shows of 2008
I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmas
Mine was lovely, lots of eating and spending time with family! I got some clothes and gift vouchers and also Enchanted on DVD
Yay, I forgot how good it was!
TV Stuff
Mostly I've been watching Gilmore Girls (nearly over- sob!) Six Feet Under s1 (ridiculously good) and Brothers and Sisters s2
Over Christmas I watched The Royle Family which was really funny and the Wallace and Grommit special which was also pretty funny and sweet.
Top Ten TV Shows 2008
With this being my final blog of the year, I have decided to end with a countdown of my favourite shows from this year (comprised of shows that I have seen new episodes of this year)
Honourable mentions: Skins (which I blogged about a lot at the start of the year) Six Feet Under (which I haven't seen enough of to justify it being in the list) and The Hills (brilliantly trashy)
10. Samantha Who Season 1- a cute little show which has a great cast and so much potential

9. Ugly Betty Season 2- Not as good as its first season but still very enjoyable
8. Chuck Season 1- A very entertaining but another show that was cut short and has yet to hit its potential
7. Hollyoaks- I've only got into this soap this year, but its had a great and very emotional year with Max's death and Niall's revenge
6. Entourage Season 4 and 5- Not its best seasons unfortunately but still better than a lot of TV out there
5. Desperate Housewives Season 4 and 5a- Both seasons were great television and still very addictive
4. Greek Season 1 and 2a- I only discovered this show this year but its surprisingly good and a real gem of a show

3. Dexter Season 2- Although this was a surprising season in some respects, it never failed to deliver. This is easily one of the best shows on TV and deserves way more recognition.
2. Brothers and Sisters Season 2- A lot of people didn't like this season but I really enjoyed it, the show changed direction sure but it all fits on a re-watch
1. Gilmore Girls Season 1-7- this show probably benefited from me having seen 7 seasons of it in just over 7 months but it couldn't not have this number 1 spot. It had its up and downs but this show has kept me consistently excited about and entertained for over half the year. I grew quickly addicted and this show never fails to get a laugh from me. I'm so glad I started watching the show.
Hope you enjoyed my countdowns and thanks to everybody who has read or commented on my blogs this year. Happy New Year everybody!!
