Wonder this...
So time for another blog about one of the users that post at my UCB The Open Communication Center. This user is no other than 2ndWonder.

What is there to say about this user? Most people already know him, he's been on the forums of GameSpot before I started being active here. His name is Jay and he always has a nice word for everyone. He spends hours on GameSpot lurking, posting and just being there for others. Whether it's a friendly hello or making a thread to give a board something new to talk about. He's been a close friend to me on here for a long time and remembers when I was some newb poster trying to make his way on the boards. He seems to be everywhere and, to me at least, describes what a quality user on GameSpot should be. He also helps keep stats for the site by keeping track of the Top 25 User Levels which I am sure is no easy task. So if you don't already know this user then feel free to look him up in Off-Topic Discussion or in my UCB and get to know him better. I'd just like to take the time to thank you Jay for all you have contributed to GameSpot and for always being a friend to me on here, someone I can depend on to be there if I need someone there. It's an honor to know someone like yourself. Have a good night everyone and I hope your Thanksgiving dinner's don't leave you too stuffed to get to know this wonder user here on GameSpot.

Archdemon slayer since 2009

Finished Dragon Age: Origins. Got my prince, half the kingdom, killed a power-mad man and sexed up a witch.

I finished the game 60% complete, and I can't go back and do the quests I missed! DAMN YOU BIOWARE! I HAVE TO START A NEW CHARACTER FOR THAT! *shakes fist in anger*

The game itself took me around 45 hours to complete, but I procrastinated a lot, and I tried to avoid having to fight Loghain and his army of baddies for as long as possible... But Sten looked at me in a funny way, so I did it. Y_Y

Now on to the human noble origins, then a dwarf. And I HAVE to sex up that wicked witch of the wild, but that means I have to make a man D:

starting to not play video games again.. lol

well I guess this is the opposite of my last blog which was over a month ago. I basically sold all of my Xbox stuff that I bought last month. all I have left is a non-working PS2 with working games and I have some non-working Xbox games that the buyer of the Xbox didn't want but oh well, I'll get rid of them somehow. oh yeah, I still have a Game Boy Color from like 10 years ago. haha, it doesn't turn on anymore though.

the Xbox just kinda bored me. it was nice to have and it felt like an upgrade from my Gamecube cause I didn't have wireless controllers for my Gamecube and I could watch DVD's on the Xbox (I have a DVD player anyway) but there were only a few games out of all of the 30+ games I had that I actually enjoyed. and maybe a few others that I would eventually have liked to get but didn't feel like it. so in the past month I've managed to get rid of my Gamecube collection of like 7 controllers, a Game Boy Player and around 30 games, most of them being the best games for the system. that collection started back in 2002. then I bought an Xbox and just got rid of that. I'm pretty much using the money to buy a Verizon cell phone and stick with a prepaid plan with them for now, I'm getting sick of Boost Mobile which is what I have at the moment. the service sucks, even if it is cheap. I always seem to get texts late too. and my girlfriend has Verizon so neither one of us will have to use minutes when talking to each other during any part of the day. so I guess you could say I'm done with video games for now but whenever I get a job around here, I plan on buying a Wii or PS3. cause one thing I didn't like about having the Xbox was that I didn't have any new games to look forward to because they don't make games for it anymore. I can just play my brothers Xbox 360 when he comes over so that's why I'd rather get a Wii or PS3. but he's planning on getting a Wii for christmas so.. it's like I could just play that and maybe get some of my own games to play on it if there's any games I want that bad. so maybe a PS3 in the future would be the best choice? I don't know.. but oh well, I'll just have to wait and see what happens. sorry if I let any of you fellow gamers down lol. whenever I move in with my girlfriend, which seems like it'll be in 2011 or most likely 2012 cause she'll probably have to live on campus for the first year of college and she's starting college in 2011. I'll probably try to rent a house or something close to there so I can see her sometimes then she can live with me after the first year and keep going to college while living with me. she originally wanted to be a doctor but now she wants to be a veterinarian and go to some college in Michigan that she's been looking at. she keeps changing her mind but I'm just like babe I'll just go wherever you go. haha. but anyway.. back to the reason why I started talking about my girlfriend right after I was talking about video games.. when we live together, she wants us to have video games that we can play together and probably 1-Player games too cause she enjoys all types of video games. and no, she isn't one of those nerdy girls lmao. she just happens to be an amazing, very good looking girl that actually enjoys video games sometimes. so that's a huge plus. I love basically everything about her, December 7th will be our 17 month anniversary.

but I don't wanna make this much longer. I know I don't come on here too often and I know rarely talk to people on here but I'd be glad to add anyone on Myspace or Facebook if they have one. I've been on Gamespot for over 4 years so there's no way I'm leaving it. I just don't know when I'll start getting into this site again.

Im aware this is a late blog...

I have been extremely busy. Sorry people.

The short blog (for lazy people)

  • My A levels are going downhill and I have been desperately trying to get them back up.
  • Being a games designer will have to be done in my spare time, not as a career (yet)
  • University looks expensive
  • Proberbly won't get into University anyway
  • Seeking an apprenticeship in the business world... and not going well so far.
  • Havn't spoken to RuntyGorillia in a while (oops)
  • BeanZ had her little girl in October. I saw her, she's beautiful.
  • I went on a school trip to Barcelona (Spanish (European) city).
  • Writing a novel

The detailed blog

Right, so my A levels havn't been going well. For you that don't know what A levels are, they're qualifications needed to get into University. Anyway, after the fisrt year of doing them they are really low. D's and E's... that's not good. C is the average (although most people fail them so...). I am retaing my Business and Art exams and I have dropped biology (hated it).

Next thing. Being a games designer is not going to happen. Well, it could happen. I could be creating the visuals to games for big companies like... a rock... and a tree... and another rock... for five years. Hell no! I want to create my own games. Therefore it shall be a hobby instead of a career.

University looks extremely expensive. Like, really too expensive. Ok, so I know the gouvernment will lend me the money but even so. At te very least I'll be in deb of 15,000 sterling pounds! And then I wouldn't even know if I could get a job.

And of course, I doubt I could get into University. So many people applying to the local one and I do not have anything special about me at all.

So then plan B is seeking an apprenticeship. I actually much prefer that idea. I don't want to be sat at a desk doing more school work, no. I really want to get started into work and doing something! Plus I would be getting money. You know, I would much prefer that than going to University.

I havn't spoken to Runty in a while. Ever since he has been to college I just... feel awkward going to speak to him or talk to him. I know I shouldn't but... it just does feel that way. I read his blog to see what he has been up to. Sounds like you're having a whale of a time in college.

Oh, Beanz gave birth to a little girl. It was kind of scary I mean, she was round my house and left. An hour later she went into labour. She could have gone into labour at my house! Eeek! I saw her two days after that and she is so cute. That was the last time I saw BeanZ though. It's because her baby looked too much like my deceased sister. I'll wait until she grows up a bit, then visit again. Besides, she is really busy. Oh, boyfriend is still with her.

I went on a trip to Barcelona. I'll talk about that in another blog. I am also writing a proper thriller novel (sci-fi/thriller but not about aliens and space ships).

Anyway, I hve business to do so I will see you around gs'ers.

The Perverse Use of Grammar on the Internet

Has anyone else noticed the rather dramatic increase of the use of horrible grammar on the Internet? I'm sure that there are people that try to use proper grammar while online. (I used to use horrible grammar; look at some of my previous blog posts.)

I know that it's hard to use perfect grammar, and I can understand that.(I certainly don't have perfect grammar.) However, the use of acronyms and abbreviations has gone through the roof lately. It didn't suddenly happen either, but it just seems ubiquitous lately.

I remember a great quote that I read in someone's signature a while ago... I'm not exactly sure who said (or wrote) it, but it said something similar to this: Thousands of English teachers roll into their graves everyday because of the Internet.

I can see why people use acronyms and what-not; it is easier to type three or four letters than six or seven, isn't it? (Well, not really.) At least I could understand what people were trying to get across before, anyway. However, I now get headaches when I try to understand what some people are writing.

Well, I guess that's about it. I don't really have a suggestion, nor do I have anything similar to a suggestion. What are your thoughts on the constantly appearing acronyms/abbreviations, if you have any?

NBA Finals: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic

You already know who I'm going for. The Magic are going to be the underdogs but I think we definitely have a shot at winning it all. I don't think anyone expected us to be here, especially after Jameer Nelson went down, and the doubters are still here. But I still think no one in the NBA can beat the Magic when they defend, rebound, run, and move the ball around on offense. It's just a matter of us focusing on those key areas and showing up to play. People say we live and die by the 3pter but we've shown we can still win games when it isn't falling. People counted the Magic out when they were down 2-3 to the Celtics and they're still here, so who knows.

A couple of things to look for:

-How do Courtney Lee and Mickael Pietrus deal with Kobe Bryant?
-How do Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum deal with Dwight Howard?
-Can Los Angeles contain Orlando's 3pters?
-Will Lamar Odom actually show up?
-Which bench will perform better?

Game 1 is Thursday at 9PM EST on ABC, get ready for a hell of a series

What's this?
A Blog? Wow... it has been many months since my last one. I actually forgot how to do the tags for my font. How very sad.

It was a tough year last year. I lost my job (nothing I did, they just can't afford me anymore) and haven't been able to get another one. Got sick and had to go through a the whole medical testing thing again and busted my back a couple of times (bulging discs, yay!).

I was hoping that this year would be better but it began with my Grandfather having a fall on New Years Day and going into hospital. He developed pneumonia and passed away at 5am last Thursday. His Funeral is tomorrow. He was 93 years old, so he did well. He was so lonely the last couple of years without my Grandmother and I pray that he is now reunited with her.

Loff and hugs to you all.

I'M back SERIOUSLY LOOOOOOOOOONG READ

So its been a really long time since I posted anything on gamespot with the exception of the madden 09 post and a few things on the forums, but I'm really back this time there is some people that I haven't spoken with in a while (someone owes me some leaves) I've just been really busy with work and stuff. About work I managed to get in an argument with a customer on the 9th of June (a day after I posted a blog about my friends cd )and they thought it would be a good idea to throw a slurpee in my face. Needless to say I didn't like that very much so I beat the crap out of them. I ended up fracturing my wrist in the process and got charges pressed against me. So I've been trying to take care of that, luckily since they initiated the fight with the slurpee I had the case agaisnt me dropped and I pressed charges against them. I go to court this Thursday I'll post something about the outcome Friday. But other than that life has been good I got a graphic design job at a place called Creative Signage not far from where I live. Also as most probably don't know I really have a love for music, I like a wide variety but mostly hip hop and rap. What you don't know is that I have been writing tracks in a hope to release my cd on the day of my 20th birthday December 7th. (Pending I get the collaborations done)Right now I only have one track officially done its called the Discovery of Oneself and it happens to be the intro. My cd will be titled DDEP. After its released I have alot of other projects I'm working on with other artists I know. All of them I plan on releasing in 2oo9. They are titled 2oo9, DX Dynasty, The Chronicles of Yin and Yan, and DDEP DOSE DUEX, I also have two other unamed projects I'm working on but more on that as time passes. Back to DDEP. The concept of this album is mainly about my life and the stuff I have gone through as I get closer to releasing it I will touch base on some of the songs and stuff like that. It is going to be a pretty dark cd with a lot of comedic elements I'm putting a lot of time into this thing so feedback is really encouraged. Enough on music this is a gamesite back to game Fable 2 just came out I picked it up (of course) and so far I really love it. I haven't had a lot of time to play it but maybe an hour or so but so far its seems pretty damn good. ok it's 6:15am I have to try and get a little bit of sleep check out the link ands listen to my intro Discovery of Oneself. If any one is interested in doing a song with me let me know I also produce beats too so I can give any one a beat if they need it....PEACE
ITS COMING

There is a CLEAR bias against Sonic amongst game reviewers.
Hear me out before you go saying that I'm just some rabid Sonic fan whining about bad scores. I'm not here to defend Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic '06. I'm here to demonstrate that Sonic games do NOT get a fair shake from reviewers. And I can also tell you why.

Each Sonic game is hailed as either the death or revival of the franchise. Each game is reviewed with the failures and successes from every game in the series in mind. And that is totally ridiculous. The Sonic franchise has grown far beyond what it used to be. To compare Sonic Rivals 2 to Sonic and Knuckles and punish the former for not reminding one of the latter is idiotic, because the two games are from entirely different genres and eras.

I can't remember a time when a Sonic game was reviewed for what it is, rather than what the reviewer thinks it should be based on preconceived biases. Each reviewer picks up a Sonic game with a distinct idea of what they think it should be. It the game is something different, that's an instant score deduction.

Each game in the series is rated by how well it stands up to the 5 classics (Sonic 1, 2, 3, CD, & Knuckles). That is completely unfair. If all games were measured against those five, then almost no games would be worthy of a good score. Those are five of the absolute greatest games ever made, and anyone who disagrees either hates platformers or hasn't played them.

Each time a Sonic game is released, the reviewer makes sure to list the flaws in previous games, even if the two games are completely unrelated (for example, Sonic Adventure 2 and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games). If you're going to compare Sonic games, compare them to games from the same damn series (compare Rivals 2 to Rivals and Rush Adventure to Rush; don't compare either of them to Sonic Heroes).

Here are some quotes that support my claims:
-----
Riders 2:
"So once again, we have here a modern day Sonic game devoid of the elements which made olden days Sonic games so good"-Eurogamer

"No: In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, it still doesn't make sense that Sonic the Hedgehog would need to race upon a hoverboard"-Gamespot

"It’s time to rethink the racing design, and go back to the franchise’s roots. C’mon SEGA, all we want to do is run fast…"-IGN

Secret Rings:
"However, the transition to the third dimension has not been kind to SEGA's mascot extraordinaire. The speedy blue one jumped into 3D almost a decade ago on Dreamcast with sloppy level design and an even clunkier camera system and, despite several sequels and spin-offs, the Sonic games have not changed since. Dazzled by 3D so many years ago, critics and gamers were more forgiving of these issues - hell, we even went easy on the GameCube iterations, which had their share of problems. But in today's market of polished 3D experiences, there is just no excuse for anything that falls short. Case in point, recently released Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 hedgehog games boasted next-generation graphics, but were regardless ruined by the same design and technical shortcomings that have cemented Sonic firmly in mediocrity for years - and they received incredibly low ratings to prove it."-IGN

"After a slew of disappointing and downright bad games..."-Gamespot

"We had the misfortune of playing the abysmal Sonic the Hedgehog projects for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3"-IGN

"I'm less willing to tolerate and forgive them now that 3D games have fully evolved and we've seen exactly what great developers can do in the third dimension."-IGN

"Secret Rings takes everything that was pure and fun about the Sonic series and flips it on you."-Game Revolution

"In the old days..."-Game Revolution

"The hundred levels in Secret Rings feel more like short bonus stages than the usual Sonic sprawl."-Game Revolution

"Sonic’s recent mood swings have shaken our trust: first he dyes his hair black, takes up a gun and a bad-boy motorcycle. Because the world’s fastest rodent needs a motorcycle. Then he goes from jet-black to platinum-bleach hair faster than My Chemical Romance, ooh he’s so outcast! And from what I hear, he’s even started kissing girls. Sonic’s rebellious phase means nothing if he can’t bring the gameplay.

I’d like to get past my seeming bias for the Old Days, but every mistake and death reminds me of some comfortable feature from yesterday’s Sonics that didn’t make it into Sonic and the Secret Rings. Sonic is just too fast for his own good."-Game Revolution

"The overall experience of navigating through Sonic and the Secret Rings doesn't manage to bring the series back to glory, but at least it gives it some life. Taking the shattered corpse of the Sonic license and assembling those pieces into an almost amazing game, one that barely shows the scars of cruelty that it's experienced, is a feat. This is more of a shambling Frankenstein than a real resurrection for the series, but that's more than Sonic fans have gotten in a long time."-Gamespy

Chronicles:
"Unfortunately, the characters and interactions are really the only actual Sonic-like aspects of the game."-IGN

Sonic '06:
"Sega's blue critter has been around since the 16-bit days, when his side-scrolling platformers were strong enough to take on Mario, the then-undisputed kingpin of the platforming genre. Sonic's fall from grace has been slow, starting with a promising first stab at 3D with Sonic Adventure, but it's all been downhill since those far-gone days"-Gamespot

"Certain things should stay in the past. Just take a look at The Dukes of Hazard movie. The same thing goes for struggling videogame franchises. Some of them should just stay put and let gamers remember the way things were. Such is the case with Sonic the Hedgehog."-IGN

"Instead of convincing players that Sonic deserves a second chance, it all but eliminates his chances of a second coming worth remembering."-IGN

"For further proof, just boot up one of the original 16-bit games..."-IGN

Rivals 2:
"Let's face it: Sonic has had a rough time for the last decade or so. A lackluster crossover with the former competition, an abortive attempt at a franchise reboot, an underwhelming hoverboard racer... The list goes on and on. If you were on the lookout for an end to this disturbing trend of shoddy sequels and unimaginative spinoffs, Sonic Rivals 2 is not for you. Any but the most diehard of Sonic fans would do well to stay away from this, the next rung down the ladder of Sonic's continually downward-"spiraling career."-Gamespot

"Poor Sonic just can't catch a break. His adventure games haven't been good for years, bogged down by laughably bad filler content and "storylines" that do nothing but dull the edge of a character that used to personify SEGA's version of cool."-IGN

"Even during the best of times -- e.g., the halcyon days of the 16-bit era -- Sonic was more Bruckheimer or Bay compared to rival Mario's more cerebral, exploratory, cleverly designed adventures. While classic Sonic level designs were often as vertical as they were horizontal, the only real incentive for going north or south was to boost one's ring count before level's end. Sonic Team was more concerned about speed than in offering tons of secrets to find, but at least there was that."-1up

Rush:
"Over the years, Sonic the Hedgehog has gotten away from his roots. What once was an incredibly fast-moving, well-designed platformer series eventually exploded into adventure games, racing games, and the other typical genres that you'd expect from a mascot-type character. While the Sonic series has continued to be popular, many felt that the game was at its peak in those first three or four side-scrollers."-Gamespot

"...the devs, the chaps who did the Sonic Advance games on GBA, seem to have a lot of good ideas for things Sonic could be doing above and beyond what he did on the Megadrive. (Unlike SEGA itself, judging by the last few 3d efforts.)"-Eurogamer

Rush Adventure:
"Dimps and Sonic Team continue to prove that 2D is the perfect canvas for the Sonic the Hedgehog design."

Olympic Games:
"It's not the fast-paced platformer most were hoping for, to say the least."-1up

"So it would be silly to try and hold this title up to the same standards as say Halo 3 or even Madden."-GamePro

"The bright side to all this is that the hardcore gamers who were so obviously overlooked for this game may console themselves with the fact that they will be able to watch Sonic and Mario finally duke it out for supremacy in the upcoming Smash Bros. Brawl, which I'm guessing will be a far better game."-GamePro
---

Don't tell me you can't see it. I am wholly convinced that if each of those games were released exactly as they are now, but with completely original characters instead of Sonic and friends, they'd ALL have higher scores. People instantly deducted points from Mario and Sonic because it wasn't a platformer.

More than half of the reviews of Secret Rings were spent whining about Sonic '06.

They make damn sure to tell you that Sonic belongs in 2D and not 3D, no matter which game you're reading about.

They're removing points from Chronicles and Olympic Games for not feeling "Sonic-y" enough".

It's ridiculous. You didn't see people marking down New Super Mario Bros for not being Super Mario Bros 3. You didn't see people marking down Mario Strikers Charged for not being Super Mario 64.

Each game should be reviewed with no preconceived notions of what it should be. These games should not be compared to games from 17 years ago, they should be rated based on how they compare to current games from their same respective genres. How does Mario and Sonic compare to Sonic 2? Pretty poorly. How does it compare to other current minigame compilations? Pretty damn well.

Conclusion: If you want a real idea of how good a Sonic game is, take the Gamerankings average and add 5-15%. I promise it will work every time.

The Time of my Life Part 1

The Time of my Life

Ah yes the best week of my life. It started on Sunday March 17, 2008. It was the start of my senior spring break. We started driving up to Kansas City in the rain. We also finished driving up to Kansas City in the rain. We got to the airport and got out of the car and waited while my dad parked it. We waited in the terminal for a while and got on a tiny plane. We flew from Kansas City to Charlotte, NC. The flight took about an hour and forty-five minutes. We got off the plane and left the airport for our hotel since we had an overnight lay-over. We put our bags in the room and my parents and I went to eat supper. We got back to our hotel and I took a shower before going over to play video games at a friend's room. I won of course. After that I went back to my room and went to sleep. Well I tried anyway. I had little success. I finally got to sleep.

A few hours later I woke up. We got our stuff ready and went to the lobby. When we got there Jordan was laying down on the couch with a wet washcloth over her forehead. She was sick. When the taxi finally arrived we got in and went to the airport where we waited to catch our next flight. The next plane pulled up to the jet way and attached to it. It was the Pittsburgh Steelers team plane and was much bigger than our first. We took off and flew from Charlotte to Cozumel, Mexico. We got off the plane and went through customs where dogs sniffed all our bags. We got through and we had to talk to this guy who was affiliated with our travel agent. After that we got in a taxi and drove to our hotel, the El Cozumeleno. We pulled up and I saw it saw it for the first time. It was the biggest nicest hotel I had ever seen. We unloaded our stuff from the taxi and went to the front desk to check in. We got there too early and our rooms weren't ready yet so we left our bags with the bell-hop and went to eat lunch at the hotel restaurant, seeing as how it was all inclusive and everything.

After we finished Brandon Long, Eric Pew and I went and played a round of mini-golf. After we finished Eric and I wanted some cigars and so we asked one of the bartender where we could find some. He pointed down the beach and said there was a guy selling them between our resort and the one next to us. We walked down the beach but didn't see anybody there except for a family that sold temporary tattoos and braided people's hair. We asked them if they knew where the guy was that was selling the cigars. "I sell the cigars," the man said. He introduced himself as Cheapo Filipo, the cheapest Cubans on the island. We asked him how many cigars he had. He pulled six of them out of his fanny pack and put them on the table. Before I left on the trip I made a deal with some of my co-workers to bring them some cigars back and they would buy them. So I needed quite a few. More than he had. I asked him if he had more and he told me that he had some more back home. He told me to come back at five and he would have more. Pew went ahead and got two cigars and I got four. A few hours later we went back, and there was Cheapo Filipo. We paid him and as we were about to leave Eric whispered to me, "Watch this. Hey Cheapo, you have any weed."

"Shhhhhhh," He said, "Be quiet. We don't want everybody to hear."

"So you have some?"

"Yeah. You want some?"

"No I just wanted to know if you had any." We had a good laugh and started walking back to the hotel.

That night we all started drinking. Some of my favorite drinks down there were: sex on the beach, amaretto and orange juice, electric lemonades, Crown and Cokes, and just plain old beer. A couple of friends and I went up to the Karaoke bar up there and got drunk. We didn't sing or dance or anything though. We weren't that dunk. As good as that night was, it was the least fun night of the trip.

The next day began just as every day down there began. With Brandon's parents calling and waking us up. I got up, took a shower, and went down for breakfast. I didn't eat very much. I was kind of hung over. A few hours after breakfast a couple of my friends, some of their parents, and I and took a taxi to town. Robert, Tanner and I went got out. Tanner's dad told us to meet back here at 1:00. We split up and set off walking down main-street till we came to a mall. We rode the escalator a few times and then went into a cigar store called La Habana. We looked around in their humidor but we didn't buy anything. We left and continued our walk down the street. We were on a mission to get to Senor Frogs but we didn't know exactly how far away it was. We stopped at a store and looked around in there for a while. They had bottles of liquor and cases of beer. We wanted to get some but we decided to wait until we were coming back to get anything to avoid having to lug it around all day. So we sat off again on our quest. We walked a little ways farther and stopped to ask some of the locals where Senor Frogs was. He pointed to the south and said it was only like a block or two. We walked about another five blocks before we spotted it. We walked up to the escalator and stepped on. We rode it to the top and got off and went to the bar. We asked the bartender for two shots of tequila each. She brought it to us and we downed it and left. We started walking back the same direction we came from. We came across another Cigar store and we went in this time with the intent of making a purchase. I got a $25 robusto Cohiba. Robert and Tanner opted to go for something a little cheaper and a little smaller. We took the cigars up to the front desk where we paid for them and the cashier cut the ends off for us. We told them thank you and walked out the door and turned right and headed back for the rendezvous point. We walked and walked and finally came back to the store with all the alcohol. I chose an $11 bottle of tequila. I later realized that that wasn't the right choice. We then walked over to where the beer was at. Robert got a 12-pack of Guinness and Tanner got a 12-pack of Bud Light. I offered to buy it for them if they gave me money since they weren't of legal drinking age, even of Mexico. I got it and stood next to the counter while they bought condoms. (Which they never used) We got our stuff and left, continuing down the street. I handed them there stuff because I didn't want to carry it. It was getting close to one O'clock so we started to hurry. We stopped at one more store that caught our eye. It was the Ron John Surf Shop store. We stepped in and looked around for a while. Robert saw a "yard" cup and wanted to buy it. We told him he could come back some other time to get it because it was about five minutes till one. Well he wasn't having it. He was determined to buy it then so he could drink out of it that night and the hotel staff couldn't take it away. He went and got in line. We told him we were going to leave him there if he didn't come with us. He thought we were bluffing. We weren't. We left his ass right then and there. We continued walking. We got about a block away and turned around to see if he was coming. He had just stepped out of the store and started jogging to catch up with us. We slowed down a bit so he could catch up a little. He caught up and we continued walking at normal speed. We got back to where we left and the rest of the group was standing there waiting for us. We got a few dirty looks but no one said anything about us being late. We got into another cab that took us back to the Hotel.

Later that night I started drinking my terrible, horrible, no good, very bad tequila. It was the roughest drink I had ever had but it could get me drunk so I drank. And drank. And drank. I was a little drunk when Brandon Long, Brandon Palumbo, and I decided we wanted to go to town. Jim and Debra Long rode with us and dropped us off in the center of the town. We walked around for a while and went in a few stores. We went to this one place that was selling stuff like rugs and wrestling masks. We tried a few on and left. We came across another store that was selling Jewlrey, watches, and sunglasses. Long saw a pair of glasses he liked and looked at the price tag. They said 140 on them. He thought it was 140 pesos which is about $14. He went over to ask the cahier if she would take them out of the case but as he was walking over there I took a look at the glasses. I called him back over here and pointed out that the tag on the glasses said 140 USD. That's United States Dollars. He decided that he didn't want them that bad and we left. Later we went to Carlos N' Charlie's. We went in and there weren't very many people. We sat down at one of the tables and Long ordered us a round of beers. They were expensive. The three beers that he ordered totaled around $14. We drank those down and this woman came over holding a bottle of something and asked if we wanted a shot. Palumbo obliged and she filled up a shot glass a put it in his mouth, tipped head back and started shaking it. After he swallowed it she grabbed his nipples and gave them a twist all the while blowing her wistle. Then she took the shot glass and shoved it down his pants. Long, seeing what just happened told her he wanted one too and he got the same treatment. We sat there for a while longer and I ordered us a round of sex on the beaches and we drank them. They were a lot stronger than the ones at the hotel as well they should. They were six dollars each. We enjoyed the rest of those but we were getting kind of bored so we went in search of Long's parents. Before long we found them and headed back to the hotel. We headed back to the room and retired.

Color Me Angry

I have been using Gamespot for several years and up until recently, I had never been upset with the way things have been run. As you may have noticed around the Home and PS3 pages recently, you may have seen a Team Fortress 2 tournament scheduled for the PS3. You may have also noticed that this tournament is no longer available for the PS3, but is for the Xbox 360.

According to JodyR, the reason for the tournament's cancellation was due to server issues. Now, I cannot confirm nor deny if only public games can be played, but I would think that better planning would go into a tournament, and a bump like that would have been caught somewhere in the decision process. I'm pretty sure that one of the first questions I would ask myself in planning a tournament is whether or not it is actually possible to do.

But why then is the tournament moving to the Xbox 360? Do they not get enough tournaments? I'm pretty sure that the 15, and soon to be 16, tournaments for the 360 compared to the 2 tournaments of the PS3 isn't exactly fair to PS3 owners. Rainbow 6: Vegas and Gears of War have both had multiple tournaments for the 360. Are just a few tournaments on the PS3 too much to ask for? Even if they did another Resistance: Fall fo Man or MotorStorm tournament, I wouldn't be so angry. But the fact that Gamespot is giving a less than stellar effort to satisfy a group of their customers is insulting, and makes me strongly consider whether or not I will choose to remain a paying customer.

I'm not saying that Gamespot is biased towards a certain console that is made by Microsoft, but I also cannot say that they aren't.
