The Stomps at 400 Bar - The Gig From Hell aka ROCK STAR TRAINING
So, my band headed out, 90 miles up to Minneapolis to play this gig which we THOUGHT was going to be halfway decent. We were headlining at this place called the 400 Bar which had a pretty impressive past lineup and looked like a pretty sweet place according to their internet site. Red Daughters were opening up, with a $5 cover charge at the door, and we got paid according to the proceeds. Sounds like a good deal! Well, we get there and sound check and all that good stuff, etc. Red Daughters played at 9, kicked ass for about 40 minutes, then finished up. Well, the only people that showed up the entire time were their friends, maybe 8 or 10 people, none of which were old enough to drink, and none of which paid the cover charge. So, we get onstage and play our set, skipping about one-third of the songs because the place was so empty. About 3/4 of the way through, Red Daughters + Entourage left, leaving 5 people in the bar: my gf Tina, Zach's friend Scott, the sound guy, a bartender, and a chick taking money at the door. So, anyway, I guess nobody did their job with promotions, and it cost us about $60 to play that crap gig: gas, dinner, and we even had to buy our own drinks at the 400.
The road to success is long and hard, that's why we call it ROCK STAR TRAINING.
Peace to you all.

Since Tv.com is lame, here's a link to my own band:
Album of the Week - 3.31 - Oasis - Be Here Now
After introducing Tina to Oasis with Definitely Maybe, we moved on to their second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? She said that it was good to hear an album that had a few songs that she already knew. Those being "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova" which were both big hits in the States during the mid-90s. She also said that she likes where the band is heading, and seems to be improving. Her favorite track was "Don't Look Back in Anger."
Album of the Week - 3.31.07 - Oasis - Be Here Now
Oasis' third album is a big departure from their earlier work. Gone is the neat and tidy songwriting that made up the last two albums. Many of the songs on Be Here Now are over six minutes, and there are NO songs under 4. The highlight is the pinnacle of the album, "All Around the World" which is a brilliant and sprawling affair. Overall, this album isn't as streamlined and poppy as its breakout predecessor, but it stretches and satisfies in ways that Morning Glory did not.
I finally gave her the CD a couple of days ago. I've been busy, and lazy. But pretty much just lazy.
