Pantera was a thrash metal band from Texas. They've been great starting from their debut "Cowboys from Hell" (1990) to their breakup in 2003. It was tragic for their former guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott to be shot when performing with his new band Damageplan in Columbus, Ohio in December 2004. He could play the guitar loud and screaming like no other and was what made Pantera so talented and great. Phil Anselmo's angry vocals also add to Dime's guitar power. My favourite song from them is "Walk" because of its brutality and "Hollow" because of the melodic guitar work. If you're a fan of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, or other thrash/power metal bands, then you should try Pantera.
R.I.P. "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott

I enjoy listening to Eminem, especially his politically charged and dramatic lyrics. He was best around the beginning of his career, with his "Slim Shady" and "Marshall Mathers" albums. Sure, he might have downfallen with "Eminem Show" and "Re-Up", and he might not be as great as Ice Cube or Nas, but still, Eminem knows how to write a good song, even in his worse moments. His songs tend to be funny sometimes (with political or pop culture influence as well), when you listen to "Real Slim Shady" or "Just Lose It". His more dramatic songs include "Mosh", which criticizes President George W. Bush, and "Cleaning Out My Closet".
I get tired of people claiming that Eminem is a "talentless hack" or "w*gg*r". Sure, I know some people can't tolerate Eminem's cuss words or dark subject matter, but at least Eminem's songs are not as horrendously produced as the even more untalented mainstream rappers like D4L or Dem Franchize Boyz, or as pop-oriented or trendy like 50 Cent or Chingy. Sure, you might have heard 50 Cent guesting on Eminem albums sometimes, or the other way around, but does that mean that Eminem "sold out" or "tried to be black"? What about the white rappers who are even worse than Eminem, like Vanilla Ice or Kevin Federline or Fred Durst (of the horrendous band Limp Bizkit)? Eminem basically pawns all of them, even though real rap legends like Nas or Ice Cube sound better. So stop claiming that Eminem has no talent, especially when we have rappers worse than him like Lil Jon or Nelly.
Besides, the First Amendment not only gives you the right to talk [...] about Eminem, he also gets to rap about whatever he wants. So you should stop making false assumptions about Eminem after you take the time to listen to his music, versus the music of Kevin Federline or Lil Jon.

If you're reading this review, you must be:
- an avid MTV viewer or listener to top-40 radio
- an Asian who's obsessed crazily with anime and video games (I'm Chinese and am into anime but dislike video games)
- a pathetic loser who doesn't know real rock
Anyway, here's my review against Linkin Park. Linkin Park has got to be the most untalented and unoriginal poser excuse for "rock" music I've ever heard. Back when I was in middle school, I used to listen to these morons all the time, until in late 2005, I read online about these guys being unoriginal. That was also sort of when I began listening to heavy metal bands like Killswitch Engage, Godsmack, Rage Against the Machine, and Machine Head. I learned that Linkin Park was basically Warner Bros Records' scam for cash.
People say that LP are original because of their use of electronic and hip-hop elements in their music. That's untrue. Linkin Park aren't groundbreaking by doing this, instead they're just copycats who can't put these elements to good use. Their guitarist probably knows only 3 to 4 chords each and plays those same riffs every song. Besides, bands like Fear Factory, Powerman 5000, Nine Inch Nails, Orgy, and Marilyn Manson have been using this "techno/metal" sound since the late 80s/early 90s, and they know how to put actual musical talent there as well to make them truly sound like rock. The reason Brad Delson, LP's guitarist, and the bass and drummer were hired for Linkin Park was so that LP could be marketed as rock. That was a bad idea, huh?
Also, part of LP's so-called "originality" is because of their rapper, Mike Shinoda, whose rapping is added to the side of Chester Bennington's singing/screaming. Actually, there have been rock bands using rap vocals in their music since Body Count in 1990, followed by other influential bands like Rage Against the Machine, Powerman 5000, 311, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Anthrax (they did a song with rap group Public Enemy, like LP did with Jay-Z recently). Sure, Shinoda has decent rapping skills, and sounds better than most untalented rap hacks these days like 50 Cent or Chingy, but the basic, low-level songwriting that LP does in their music detracts the listener from hearing Shinoda's talent.
And finally, I'd like to point out that Chester Bennington is also an untalented hack. In the softer parts of LP songs, he sounds like the lead singer for boy band Savage Garden. He's not that great at screaming either, to make his band sound like "heavy metal". What about better screamers in metal, like James Hetfield (Metallica), Jon Davis (Korn), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), or Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed)? They all make Chester Bennington sound like Justin Timberlake!
From all this, you should have learned that Linkin Park are just contemporary untalented mainstream hacks and lame excuses for "rock" music. Skip them and listen to any of these bands that LP ripped off:
- Rage Against the Machine
- Fear Factory
- Nine Inch Nails
- Korn
- Machine Head
- Anthrax
- Marilyn Manson

The "MTV2 Headbangers Ball" compilation of heavy metal hits of 2002 and 2003 introduced me to this awesome band with their song "Rational Gaze". I first got to hear this album several months after I played "Rational Gaze" many times off my computer. Every track on this CD is brutal and heavy with crushing guitars and fast-paced drumming non-stop. They never lose their talent or strength in this album. Recommended for fans of black metal or technical music.

Jay-Z is an above-below-average rapper, though not the very best I've heard. He hasn't been that great since the "Blueprint 2.1" back in 2002. Yeah, his beef with Nas was worth it. Nas pwns Jay-Z any day, even if you're talking about Nas' "It Was Written" vs. Jay-Z's "Reasonable Doubt".
Linkin Park, however, was just an unoriginal, untalented hack band that was terrible from day one. They are an insult to REAL rapcore/alt-metal/industrial-metal groups like Rage Against the Machine, Fear Factory, Nine Inch Nails, and Sevendust. So why'd they have to humiliate themselves with this terrible CD?
If you want a REAL rap-rock collabo, listen to Anthrax & Public Enemy's rendition of "Bring the Noise" from the Public Enemy album "Apocalypse 91". Or, listen to any of these following bands: Rage Against the Machine, E-Town Concrete, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, or Powerman 5000. Not Stinkin' Barf. So don't be surprised when you see this CD selling super-cheap at a garage sale.
