New TV.Com
I can already see that I'm going to become an emblem addict and I'm excited to the the statbox that I'm no longer going to have to create. But at the same time I'm sad because this now means the end of the CotBB. (sniffle, sniffle)
I can't wait until they move it from Beta to live, but I'm really impressed that the staff let us test some stuff in Beta and held up the release based on feedback. I think this really is a step in the right direction.
QotD: It's about that time for the networks to make final decisions for their '06-'07 returning shows.
What show are you hoping they'll save a bring back that they haven't announced yet.
(I'm voting for E-Ring, but it's a long shot at this point)
There is no cure for birth and death save to enjoy the interval
So since last I wrote something amazing has happened. I have 0 yes zero pending submissions; even the ones that I put in back in Sept ’05 have been processed!
As a by product of this I am now the editor for Bradley Whitford.
I’m spending a lot of time trying to get the Inked guide up to snuff. It’s kind of amazing that a show that only has 1 season under it’s belt can be in such disarray.
One of the things I’m having an issue with is trying to determine what the original air dates were for some of the episodes. Has anyone found a resource where one can find them?
If you haven’t seen this you should check it out. It will be interesting to see what comes of it. Thanks to angelandspike for putting it together.
I’m not usually one to celebrate or even care about birthday’s but last week I turned 30 and it’s just kind of hit me funny. Overnight I starting actually thinking about stuff, where I am in my career, with my family..etc..
So here’s my question ….
“Are you where you thought you’d be at this point in your life?”
Any finally here’s the sans blue boxie:

My 1st show editorship! and a rant....
I also tried my hand at making an actual banner…what do ya think? (I know it’s pretty rudimentary)
I haven’t been too active on my blog recently mainly because every time I’ve tried over the last couple of weeks the site has been royally screwed up. I understand the staff has a lot going on and all but if I turned out a product like this at work I would have been fired months ago. It’s not rocket science we’re talking about here, I truly believe most of the problems could be solved with something called….testing.
I know we’re only talking about a website here, and the earth will not fall off it’s axis if the worst thing that happens is I can’t access the forums….but if your going to have a website and charge people for ad space let’s make sure people can do what they come here to do. True it’s free for us to use, but do they realize that if it weren’t for us they couldn’t sell ad space? If nobody’s keeps these guides up and people start leaving mass exodus style no company is going to put their ad dollars into a site no one uses.
Since the re-re-release I’ve noticed at least a dozen longtime and active users say they are either packing their bags and going to that other site, or they are significantly limiting their activity here.
I think the staff needs to start doing some things differently. Couple of thoughts…
1 – Read and participate in the forums (at least in the support and idea’s forums). There needs to be a dedicated representative to make sure we as the users know you are listening. Inevitability the answer someone gets in the forum is PM a staff member. Maybe I’m wrong but I thought that’s what the “support forum” was for.
2 – Give us notice of changes. Okay MissRibs tried to do that on the last release, but she left off some changes that people noticed like the quote changes. Maybe it’s a separate forum to manage version releases, I don’t know.
3 – Give us a voice in what enhancements should/shouldn’t been in a release. Let us vote on them or something. We have the idea’s forum but it doesn’t seem like they even read that. Most of the changes in the re-re-release no one seemed to care about.
4 – Fix the bugs! Some of the problems with the site go back to things from the original release, why are we not hearing about when they will be fixed?
5 – Have someone’s fulltime job to manage the QoD… I understand people are busy, but if it’s the staff’s responsibility to clear this thing out why oh why do people still have things in the queue from June?
6 – Update your blogs. Do you realize people monitor them? And see that some of you haven’t made an update in months?
Question of the day…. If things don’t change will you be moving on to that other site?
Okay I’ll end my rant will the sans blue boxie…..
