Two Years In The Making

Well, it's my 2nd anniversary here at TV.com. So, thanks to all of you guys. I wouldn't have stayed for all this time without you. And despite many things and issues that I have to disagree with, I also have to thank the mods and staff of TV.com for making this site what it is.

And so that's it, a really short blog. I really have absolutely nothing else to say, so good night.

Mummy 3 Review and Batman

Well, I've been back home for a week. I've barely commented or posted. Mostly due to sleeping too much and going on the Animation Revelation forums.

Today, I watched The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. And let me say that it was… crap. No offense to anyone who liked it, but I thought it was just pure garbage. The movie had a predictable and unappealing plot. It managed to be even more mindless than the first 2 Mummy movies (which were actually okay in my opinion). And the first part of the movie felt way too much like that movie Hero. Seriously, Jet Li seems to be wearing the exact same outfit from that movie. Honestly, I couldn't help but feel distracted that Rachel Weisz got replaced. Still, Maria Bello was okay. Brendan Fraser was all right. And that guy who plays Evelyn's brother, John Hannah, was more annoying than funny. I remember watching The Mummy Returns during a bus ride and ended up confusing John Hannah with Alexis Denisof for some reason. And personally, I think Alexis Denisof would've given a better performance. But, back to the point. Jet Li was okay, even though he spent part of the movie as a demonic soldier made out of chocolately goodness. Michelle Yeoh was good, but that girl who played her daughter got on my nerves. I can't say anything good about Luke Ford. I just thought his character was bland and his relationship with Lin felt too tacked on. And, I have to say that the part of the movie that made me wince the most was when yetis inexplicably came. Honestly, yetis? I wasn't expecting this movie to be realistic, but yetis? I miss Imhotep and Anck-Su-Namen. Really, the only part that I felt was interesting was the one where Jet Li inexplicably transformed into King Ghidorah. I have to say that the movie was too cheesy. And who wrote it? (checks wiki) Millar and Gough. The guys who wrote Spiderman 2, those two Shanghai movies with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson, and Smallville. Wait, the script for Spiderman 2 came from those guys? But that was actually a good movie. I always thought Millar and Gough's movies were nothing but pure guilty pleasure movies. Hmm. Still, The Mummy 3's fun if you like action/adventure movies. Overall, I'd give it a 4 out of 10.

And I rewatched The Dark Knight as well, mostly to get that Mummy 3 taste out. And, it's one of the very few movies I've watched twice in theatres, because it's just that good. Heath Ledger was really good as the Joker. Even from watching the trailers, I loved seeing him. It's just sad that he died. Unlike Mummy 3, TDK was more consistent. And there weren't as many useless characters. My only problem with the movie was that it was a little too long.

So that's it for the blog. Good night.

Darkness and the Doctor

So has anybody seen that Dr. Horrible video?

For those who haven't heard of it, it's a little thing Joss Whedon did during the writers' strike. It contains 3 acts. One's already out. The next one will be out tomorrow. And here's a quote from Joss that can explain the thing better than I could.

"It's the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he's too shy to talk to." - Joss Whedon

So, that's about it for the summary. IMO, the webshow ends up being a little schizophrenic in the first act. I didn't like a couple of the songs. Still, it was pretty good. I liked Nathan Fillion's performance. And for anyone who wants to watch it legally and free, you only have this week to do it.

And on a sad note, one of my friends on this site, Darklordavaitor, was recently banned. He knew what to say when it came to cartoons, life, and music. So Darklord, if you're reading this, hope you have a good future elsewhere.

Oh, and I'll be going to New York and Washington D.C. sometime next week. So, that's it for the blog.

I'm not afraid of heights, I'm just afraid of falling from them...

So, haven't made a blog in a long time. I don't really have much to tal-- (checks news) Oh God, George Carlin's dead.

George Carlin

Oh no. Didn't expect this. So, legendary comedian Geroge Carlin died of heart failure at age 71 sometime today. I don't know what to say. I liked his work. Even when I was a kid, I liked him. Even though he was that guy who narrated Thomas the Tank Engine and played a really small conductor back when I was a kid, I still liked him. It ended up being a huge shock when I realized that Carlin was that guy from Thomas the Tank Engine. So, I'll just say that he was a great comedian and actor. He had a lot of great things to say about society and I will always respect him for that. And with comedy becoming more and more lowbrow, I don't know if there will ever be another legend like him.

RIP George Carlin May 12, 1937 - June 22, 2008

So, I watched some of Camp Rock a few days ago. Hated it. The actors were too dull. There was too much pop music. It was too corny. Honestly, I have a high tolerance for bad movies, but movies like this are just too much. Overall, I give it a 1/10.

And I haven't watched Turn Left yet. I had a cold today, so I didn't have time. I'll probably watch it tomorrow or Tuesday. So, that's it for the blog. Good night.

And so June begins.

This morning, I went on a sponsored walk for my school. I mostly went because my teacher was handing out extra credit for going there. Also, free T-shirts. The downside is, I was really, really drowsy when doing it. I only slept for a couple hours the night before. So... yeah.

Since the last blog, I've found some stuff from the news that's just really stupid and nonsensical. Like, those Dunkin Donuts ads getting pulled just because Rachael Ray wore a scarf that kind of looked like an arab headdress. Then, there's the story about Christian groups trying to change the logo for Starbuck's Coffee because it looks "suggestive" and "obscene". Honestly, what's wrong with it? Yeah, the original logo isn't really family-friendly. But, I don't think that most of the customers are aware of it.

Oh, and I saw the Dollhouse trailer. It looks good. Initially, I was kind of confused about what the plot was going to be about. But, it looks promising. Hope this ends up being another hit for Joss.

OBEY TEH DUCK-MUFFIN!

Also, I have to go through another round of MCAS this week. This time, it's biology. Still, biology's not that hard. So, good night and have a great June 1st.
