Left 4 dead 2 boycott valid ?! maybe ?!? yes ?!?! no?!?!

Ok I havent written on this blog for like 10 years and my last few posts have been about the gamespot exodus and now almost all of these people are off on bigger and better ventures....most notedly Giantbomb (ftw). Anyways I expect not one person is going to read this but I have to get this off of my chest....so here goes....

Since the announcment of Left for dead 2 at e3 this year there has been a public outcry with boycotts and angry forum posts up the wazzooo. Now, to combat this "immaturity" various game "people" have spoken on behalf of Valve quoting angry forumers and boycotters as having a werid and babyish sense of entitlement. And in short questioning the upbringing of these individuals where they think that valve must put aside it's own needs to make money to cater to these people.

Needless to say this is a valid arguement

But in this case I believe although this has proven to be the case in the past, I don't think that in this specific instance it's that simple. I beileve that in this case....and I don't normally do this....that the angry forumers and boycotters are right to some degree...

Now before you say I suck and I should've stayed hidden under that rock Ive been under for the past however so many years...and that I should shutup and appreichiate my 15 min of fame from my angry sony fanboy rant...hear me out.

It was November 20th 2008 and I found myself with the option of left 4 dead or the milions of other offerings that were presented to us last year. Now me being an avid lover of video games, did my research....read reviews....watched reviews.....read previews.....watched previews....etc. Needless to say Left 4 dead was under my radar for quite sometime before that faithfull day of November the 20th. And to say that on that day I had alot of money would be to say that the sun is green and our president is white ( sounds weird and mildly racist right ?!?!). Now on that day, November the 20th, Left 4 Dead had been out for three days already, meaning that so were reviews. Almost everybody gave it a good review...lauding it for inovative gameplay and a fresh new feel... but along with the praise came one particular comment that was common in every review for Left 4 dead..... LACK OF FRICKEN CONTENT.

And correct me if Im wrong...every reviewer out there as justification for this lack of content included a statement that went something like this, " Based of Valve's Track record you should expect to see new content in the future...including new maps, new weapons, new zombies etc., I think that Valve has learned their lesson from team fortress 2 on the console and won't screw left 4 dead up......

WRONG.

instead we get the most half-ass mode in the history of mankind..."survivor mode" and we get support for multiplayer for the other two maps...that guess what...SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE F*CKING FIRST PLACE!

And then rather than fulfilling their promise of supporting a clearly "skinny" game...they say " Hey F()CK YOU! WE KNOW TIMES ARE TOUGH BUT HERE GIVE US ANOTHER 60 dollars if you want to continue playing this absolutly amazing game.

Which brings me back to November 20.

I ended up getting Left 4 Dead, with 63 dollars in ones and 5's and 10's all wrinckled up from the probably months of sitting in between my couch cushions... And I felt like I was buying an investment rather than an actual game.

Which brings me full circle back to why I think these Dorito-powdered-shirt-wearing f^ckers are right.

when you buy a gadget with the promises of it being "patched" later....and the company instead just throws out the new model with almost near specs....oooo but this time it comes in black.(Another similarity) In this case...would it be ok to be angry = YES.

When you spend you hard earn money and you choose a company over all else that is out there...trusting them to make the right calls and use your money to make you happy...and they do a half ass job....is it ok to be angry = YES

When every reputable source you have is backing a stock....and then that stock makes you lose money...even though you knew there were sure winners out there, but didnt take them because your sources sasid otherwise....can you be angry = YES.

When CliffyB said that Gears 1 was designed to teach you the controls and introduce you to the characters..and that gears 2 was going to be the real game..and you asked your self they why did you charge full price for the first game? can you be angry = YES

In all of these cases you can argue and argue and argue and argue...but in the end when your angry your angry...and in this case most of these blabbering idiots are angry for a good reason.

What valve should have done is this...and if you've read this blog post to this point I salute you....they should have made a brand new senario for left 4 dead just one..and I mean the equivilant to the 4 out there and charge for it...so your making money ( id pay 800 points)...and that would have been it. Then for left 4 dead 2 instead of releasing it a year later....release 2 years after... with 10 new maps....even 8....releasing the other 2 as paid...rather than the five offered now...and aside from that charge like another 1200 points to have to old maps included. This way you offer a rediculously good package...coupled with you already infamously good package " the orange box." and this will undoublty boost your rep. And with a rep like valve's which is already pretty high...this would be the icing on the cake. And aside from tha call Left 4 dead 2....Left 2 Die!!!!!

And to conclude this soapbox Ill sign off with one final line.

Am I getting Left 4 Dead 2? =........

O'F#CKING COURSE.

Alex, Ryan, Jeff, Carrie, Bob, Rich, Greg.

All of these people are toe sole reason why I became interested in games, and to be honest the only reason why I am not in some creepy mental hospital is becuase I had games to releive that stress. Now with the recent departures of Alex and Ryan I see a part of my life passing right in front of me. I mean Gamespot has always been my best friend, and somethings are just habitual..... Teusdays= no sleep till 12 so that I can dowload the hotspot and listen to it, thursdays= 7:00 ON THE SPOT. I mean these two events are almost no-brainers at this point in my life, and just like drugs I know exactly what Im gonna get. But for some reason with all of those people leaving, its really just not the same. Now if you haven't noticed from my past few blog posts these people's departures strike me very deeply. And I know ur saying I have no life and its odd how I could possibly consider people Ive never met before, to be my friends. But I think with the world in not the best shape it has been for a while, and life as a teenager being hard( as it should be), I always felt that gamespot was my escape. Gamespot always seemed to be happy talking about games, and with jeff cracking numerous inside jokes. So with Ryan leaving there is nobody. I mean Vinnie, Ryan and Aaron o yea and Joe Dodson who is a god, all these people are cool, but I mean nothing will ever compare to Rich at the desk, jeff on the couch, and Ryan at the standing set. So I'll continue with gamespot, simply becuase you dont leave friends just becuase they fall in troubles, but I guess I just wanted to vent my feelings and just say that even though Ryan's departure meant the last person on the MVP's to leave, I still will always beleive in the gamespot dream.

Gamespot, hug it out b****

Gamespot has always been there for me, and now that the initial shock of jeff leaving is almost gone, Ive decided the best thing to do is to stay with gamespot, becuase jeff spent 11 years of his life trying to make this website what it is today, and the fact that we think we are supporting his by smaking his legacy in the face is rediculous. So please stay with gamespot, becuase I mean if you spend enough time on the site that you were actually sadden by the departure of jeff, then you owe it to gamespot for the amount of good laughs and times we had on this site. So please people let's forgive but never forget the name Gerstmann

Another blog post about jeff

Now for a very long time now Ive been a gamespotter, and in a sad way gamespot has always been that friend that would never stab me in the back and was always there to make me laugh with a rediculous, gritty-voiced, intro to the hotspot or another reference to the shape of the xbox 360. And for a while I got to know the editors of gamespot, from rich to carrie, from joe fielder to greg meuller. Each one of these people I of course never met face to face in my life, but then when I saw each of these people leave, I had that same feeling that I was losing a friend. Now to me I can saftely say that Jeff Gertmann is a hero to me. Becuase even though his work doesn't affect the world in any way, he still made every body he touched around him happy as hell. Now I know this is not a eulogy, but I just feel like with this something has died, and that a great loved-one is dead to me. I feel I can never look at gamespot again, even though it has been my friend for such a long time. Now from reading every blog post I can, a lot of people are taking this hard. And me especially can't help from being confused about the whole situation. But the point Im trying to make here is, we can never know what the future might hold. Now this week we lost our conection to the greatest internet star ever, and this week we lost our faith in a good reliable friend. Now Im just as confused as you are with not being able to get our doses of jeff every week, but Im just gonna stick and hope everything gets better, cause even though the future is pretty bleak right now, Im trying to convince myself to be hopefull
