Fall 2009 Must See List

Well finally did it, I saw all 10 on my list for the summer. Below is my list for the fall movies, there are less overall than the summer but I was still able to make a Top 10 list. Here goes

1. The Road - This was my number one last fall, hopefully I will get to see it this Fall. If they move it again, I will put it on another top 10 list.

2. Sherlock Holmes - Robert Downey Jr. has been in some good movies lately and the previews look great for this one. My only drawback is that this is a Guy Ritchie movie, some of his movies I am not very fond of.

3. Zombieland - I'm a sucker for zombie movies, so this one would be high on my list no matter what. The last zombie comedy (Shaun of the Dead) was great hopefully this one is close.

4. The Informant! - I saw this one on Friday, definitely a more serious movie than the previews make it out to be. Overall, still a good movie and it was gonna be at this number regardless.

5. Where the Wild Things Are - I never thought they would be able to make this into a movie, but after seeing the previews it looks good. I liked the book as a kid, so I have to give this one a look.

6. Couples Retreat - I'm a Vince Vaughn fan so I will check this one out. Hopefully this is funnier than the Break Up.

7. 2012 - Guess I throw an end of the world movie on the list, I've always liked these movies also. On a side note, I think the whole 2012 thing is BS.

8. Ninja Assassin - Only saw the preview once, but it look amazing. It's from the guys who did The Matrix, so hopefully it will have the same kind of action.

9. Invictus - I'm going solely on the fact that this is Eastwood directing Damon. Hoping for the best.

10. Saw VI - Throwing this one on there mostly for tradition sake. I've seen everyone in the theaters so I might as well put it on the list.

Missing the list (remaining movies I want to see in the Fall) - Gamer (seen it already, not so great), The Men Who Stare at Goats and Up in the Air.

Maybe I can go 10 for 10 again.

Summer Must See List 2009

Once again, I am little late with my "to see" list for the summer. I managed to see 6 out of the 8 on my spring list. I do have a much longer list of movies that I want to see for the summer. Below is my ten most anticipated moves.

1. Transformers: Rise of the Fallen. I loved the first movie, I know some people have a problem with Michael Bay, but I thought it was great. I'm a little biased since they shot part of the movie right down the road from my house.

2. Terminator: Salvation. Each trailer makes it look better. I have put off watching the four minute clip that has been released, just so not too much is spoiled.

3. The Hangover. My number one comedy to see this summer. I love Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms. Plus, Mike Tyson is in it, so it's gotta be good.

4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'm cheating a little bit here, I already saw this one on opening day. This one is high on the list because I love movies with alot of comic book characters in them.

5. Up. Pixar is 100% so far with their pictures, so it's a safe bet that this will be great also.

6. Bruno. Borat was incredibly funny and I can't imagine the follow up being a let down. I still can't believe he gets people to fall for some us this stuff.

7. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. This might be a little high on the list, but I am hoping this turns out to be this year's Transformers, a great movie based on something from my childhood.

8. Drag Me to Hell. One of only two horror movies I want to see this summer. Sam Raimi going back to horror, gotta give it a look.

9. Inglorious Basterds. Been looking forward to this one since it was announced. To me Tarantino is hit or miss, hopefully this one will hit. On a side note, they make no mention of this being a remake/reimaging on the original.

10. Star Trek. This is a movie that I never would have thought would make it on a top 10 list of mine. I have never been a Trek fan, but this one looks good.

Just missing the top 10:

Public Enemies, Year One, The Taking of Pelham 123

There it is, one of these seasons I am gonna go 100% of my list.

Spring 2009 Movies to see

Well I managed to see 6 of the 10 for the fall, slightly down from the summer. While I was going to make my top 10 for the spring, I realized that I don't even have 10 to make out the list. I'm not sure if this is due to lack of quality movies or my taste getting pickier. I will definitely have more films for the summer. Anyways below is the list of movies I want to see this spring in no particular order.

Notorious

Friday the 13th

My Bloody Valentine

Watchmen

I Love You Man

Fast and Furious

Observe and Report

The Soloist

Fall Top 10 to see

Alright, well I finally got around to doing this list. I managed to see 8 of the 10 of my list for the summer, hopefully I will do better for these movies. Here goes.

1. The Road - I read the book after they announced they were making this into a movie and I could definitely see it being a great film. The casting seems good and I am very interested to see how it translates to the screeen.

2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - I have been hearing some mixed reactions to this movie, but after watching the trailer I was hooked. I heard it was a pretty long movie, sometimes that is a downside for me.

3. Quantum of Solace - The trailer looked amazing and after Casino Royale, I have a renewed interest in the Bond series.

4. Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Although I am getting a little worn out with Seth Rogen (seems to play the same character every movie), you can't go wrong with a Kevin Smith movie.

5. Burn After Reading - The best thing about the Coen brothers is how much each of their movies differ. This one looks like it is getting back to Big Lebowski territory, which is a great thing.

6. Eagle Eye - This one looks like it could be a good thriller and Shia LeBeouf is making a nice little career for himself. Plus this is one of the few action movies on my list.

7. Saw V - I know there have been diminishing returns on these movies, but they are definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. I never would have thought they would make it to a fifth film.

8. Body of Lies - This is actually a surprise entry on my list because I am not a huge fan of Russell Crowe or Dicaprio, but the movie looks good, so I'll give it a shot.

9. Punisher: War Zone - You gotta have at least one comic book movie on your list.

10. The Day the Earth Stood Still - This one is my wildcard, I like end of the world type movies. This one looks like it is walking a thin line between decent and dreadful. Hopefully it is on the decent side.

Well there it is, hope to hear your comments. Like it, hate it, let me know.

End of Summer

Well, there is only one more movie on my list for summer movie list, Tropic Thunder and I have to say that this summer was pretty good at the theatres. The Dark Knight was the best movie I have ever seen. There were some letdowns like The Happening and The Mummy. There were some pleasant surprises though, I thought The Love Guru was pretty funny. Here's hoping that the fall movie season is going to be good. My top ten for the Fall should be coming out pretty soon.
