The Everglow Mae
""
Mae's new album is presented as a concept album- and can be interpreted in almost any way you wish. It begins with a voice telling you open the booklet and read along- and you should. The booklet is like a mini children\'s book on tape, and you will become enraptured by the story and great art.
It starts with a wonderful piano opening, that showcases wonderful piano and Dave's unique voice. Mae cover all sorts of ground after the opener- rocking with "Someone Else's Arms," "Painless," "Ready and Waiting to Fall,\" and \"Anything.\" There are two great ballads in \"The Ocean\" and the closer, \"The Sun and the Moon.\" There are also some great more poppy- songs- \"Suspension,\" the catchy first single, the infectious \"Breakdown,\" and the climactic title song.
This is one of the best albums of 2005 for me, and it has such variety while still blending together perfectly. Don\'t miss it- its a shining moment in modern alternative rock.

Mae Rock/Pop
""
Mae is one of my favorite bands. Ever. They can be classified using words like indie-pop, emo, even grunge-pop, but in the end they're essentially alternative or rock/pop.
Anyways, they are simply amazing. They make feel-good, poppy, but beatiful music. They can makes some great hooks- just check out "This Time is the Last Time," "Soundtrack for Our Movie," "Suspension," "The Breakdown," or "Anything." They create a sonic landscape of sound that blows me away everytime, and Dave's vocals are unique and recognizable. They seem like they should be like a lot of other bands, but somehow, they manage to differentiate themselves from all the other similar emo and tooth and nail bands.
All the emo-haters, punk elitists, metalheads, and people into hardcore probably won't like or appreciate them. But anyone who appreciates music and enjoys simple, sugary pop rock, should find it hard to not like Mae. And by the way, Mae stand for "multisensory aesthetic experience," and when you hear them you'll understand why.
My personal favorite songs are "Someone Else's Arms," "Cover Me," "The Everglow," "Last Call," and "Sun." Quite simply, just check out Mae- they may just get to you.

Green Day Rock/Pop
""
Green Day came into mainstream with their first really big hit in "Dookie." The record became a hit with singles like "basket case" and When I Come Around."' It proved to be a funny, fun, and genuinely essential piece in the growing punk-pop world. Green Day would follow it with a bunch of similiarly great but not as good records, up until Warning. Warning was Green Day at its best since Dookie. It was brilliant in every respect, and perhaps their most underrated album. Green Day had by then proved they wrote great songs with great lyrics, and had truly become one of the most influential bands of their time. It seemed they couldn't get any better, but then came the killer app that is "American Idiot." Bold, ambitious, and brilliant can all describe Green Day's most raved album of all time. It was a rock opera that held many brilliant songs that included the chart-topping "Boulevard of Brokend Dreams." Green Day proved themselves to be the kind of punk-pop and rose to huge heights, and placed their mark in history with their great music and seal on history with "American Idiot," an album that will forever be linked with the 2004 generation.

American Idiot Green Day
""
Green Day has truly achieved epicness and brilliance in the album
"american idiot." This album is unprecedented in all the rock and punk-pop of today. The album contains four amazing singles:
the title track, "american idiot," which is a great, fast-paced single to introduce the album; "holiday" is truly Green Day's most political and angry song yet, but they pull it off brilliantly; "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is their chart-smashing
single, unlike any other song they've ever done; and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" is their epic, beautiful rock ballad about loss. The rest of the song are also brilliant, but by far the best is the epic, 9-minute opera "Jesus of Suburbia." There is nothing like this album, and there never truly will be.
Green Day presents American Idiot: the masterpiece Punk Opera of
our time.
