Maximum Force

It has been a week since the Metal fast (I guess I'll call it that). I made the blog on Wednesday, but I actually started on a Tuesday. It went extremely well. I listened to a few albums I haven't listened to and I have got into a few new artists. Fever Ray, Bat for Lashes and The Dear Hunter are some. The final listens for the full week in my top 8...

1. Queen (162 plays)

2. Flight of the Conchords (95 plays)

3. Green Day (90 plays)

4. The Beatles (67 plays)

5. Fever Ray (51 plays)

6. Wolfmother (40 plays)

7. Bat for Lashes (38 plays)

8. Fleet Foxes (30 plays)

You could even say I have grown to love non-metal a considerable amount, too. Expect to see alot more non-metal plays on my Last.FM.

I have also leveled up. 39 - Max Force. I'm not sure exactly what that's from, any ideas?

Well that's me for now. Have fun everyone.

Finally got my Bad Company 2 beta key!

WOOT!

It's about time. Chances are, though, that I can get yet another one from my pre-order, as well

GS AU finally started giving away keys, and managed to nab one up!

So, for all those already playing, see you on the battlefield

Some people say I'm cold....

I don't know why, perhaps the way I talk, or the fact that most unions have something I find so stupid, that I find it hard for me to relate to them. I'll say it now, I am brutally honest. I'll hate anything, even if it's something you hold dear. I am not afraid to say what I hate or why I hate it, or even give a little description of how I'd kill whoever thought up the idea in the first place. This has led to a few users to consider me cold. Well, maybe I am. And it's this attitude that has allowed me to see just how dumb people can be with ideas. Regardless if you think I'm a bit too brutal or not, I am not changing, no matter what you say. I just had to say it, because this is something I just needed to let out since people are so nuts with trying to get me to like something, that it pisses me off. Let this blog remind you: If I hate it, I will never like it. End of discussion.

Created An Assassin's Creed 2 WallPaper

I mess around with graphics here and there, typically for the fan site I run at http://www.2kfootballstrategy.com or the clan site I'm part of at http://www.triplethreatclan.com. I purchased Assassin's Creed 2 last Monday and have been utterly enthralled with the game ever since.

I put in about 40 hours gameplay into it last week, doing every side quest I come across, and refusing to finish the game until I get every single item and exhaust all side questions. I was looking at the backgrounds for the game, and I decided to take a shot at making one myself, something I have never done before. Below is my first effort, which I greatly enjoyed making even though the quality may not be top notch.

The words at the center spell out what else? The Assassin's Creed! "Nothing Is True" - "Everything Is Permitted".

Makes a pretty decent Twitter theme as well, check out my Twitter page! -- http://twitter.com/Valdarez

Let me know what you think of it, good or bad. Open to any suggestions on how to make it better.

Hey look, it's still here!

Hello Everyone,

woah, pretty sweet to see this profile is still ticking. I love that feeliong of coming back the old to see what's what. So, what has been up for me? Not too much, working on games still, but focusing more on school and work than on my hobby. I will probably go ahead and update this beauty, especially since it connects to facebook now...sure, people hate how everything is doing that now, but heck, that's awesome in my book

Peace,

No, I'm Not Dead
2000+ Karma on GameFAQs, 5th anniversary of Halo 2, 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell (that actually did happen before I was born) either way I feel old.

Anyways, yes I'm still here, I don't think I'll ever be able to leave GameSpot.

In other news: Please check out my friend's website Pumpki.ca! (I wrote most of the code for it, so I have a bit of a vested interest) and, as always check out my website! www.OursTeh1337.com

starting the ol' blog again

I don't really blog much on gamespot, that being said nor do I really keep my blog postings up for long. Gamespot is usually just a source of information for games or a means to download patches etc. However its around 1.00 am and i'm up so i'm willing to entertain the idea once more. I just moved back from the West Coast of Australia to the East, back in dear old Sydney and am now living with my twin brother and my sister. I'm slowly organising the mess that is my life, i've gotten a new hard drive and some more memory pumped into my mediocre laptop, my 360 has arrived after its long journey back home to Sydney and i'm returning to University. It seems games should be taking a backseat but I know they never really will, my laptop now housing old PC games (that it can actually run) like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. I'm hoping to get some holiday work at a games store - I've been out of a job since moving coast - as my cash resources are drying quick. However I have been able to get my hands on games like Borderlands and Stories from Liberty City, and they are amazing. All I need is Red Dead Redemption to quench my thirst for western (pulpy western reads are great (y)) and i'll be happy for the moment. Excuse the sloppy grammar/capitalisation, i'm usually quite particular about such matters however I do enjoy the look of lower-case letters

....when worlds collide

An item of incalculable power and mighthas fallen into my grasp, with this very object I made the skies blot out the sun and pound the earth with unrelenting rain, the item I so much adore and defend with my life is non other than Halo 3 ODST! This game is by far the best I've played this year, I already beatthe game(Normal Mode) and had a taste of Firefight (In which I'll need to learn not to run head first into combat). Anyone who has this game can add meon XBL so we can Kick some covenant a**!

Now I set my sights to acquire MW2, Bioshock 2, DoW II: Chaos Rising and Warhammer 40k Space Marine.

On another note a friend of mine installed the Windows 7 Beta OS on my laptop, I have to say this beast works like a charm and completely forgot that a vista had ever existed, If you have vista and can't tolerate its ignorance then I suggest you upgrade to Windows 7.

'TIS A GOOD DAY TO GAME!!!!!

Clean Up, Aisle Six.

Well, Raven said I had some blogging to do, and I don't have anything to do at the moment.* So I decided to do a general update blog, just to say "Why hello thar" and such.

*Note: By don't have anything, I mean I have something, but I really can't be bothered to actually do it.

To get this party train rolling, College!

It's been a bundle of fun and I've basically been assimilated into the college life. Weekends filled with beverages and football, weekdays filled with school work and the constant battle with everyone's dreaded enemy, the snooze button. I've moved into a townhouse with 3 of my friends from last year. This is honestly some of the most fun I've ever had in my life. You'd think that as a political science major, I'd have copious amounts of time to spend playing games and things of that nature, but I've found time to be at a premium for some reason.

I really should be doing better in a lot of my clas.ses, and I'm working on doing so. I'd inform you all of my grades but that's for me to know and my parents to never ever find out. Suffice it to say, I'm an average student when I could be a lot more. This happens in more aspects than one, particularly when it comes to cheering for my Number 4 Ranked Hokies. If any of you have been following college football, you may have heard about the Virginia Tech-Nebraska Game which VT won 16-15 in the final seconds of the game on 82-yard and 11-yard passes and the 31-7 beat down VT issued the University of Miami in the cold and the rain. To all of you people that know what I'm talking about: I WAS THERE!! Having season tickets on the 50 yard line is something else, let me tell you. Particularly when you give your team up for dead, promise to eat your own shoe if the quarterback pulls through in the last minute, only to watch him prove you wrong, as if he really did want to see you eat your own shoe. Also: massive rainstorms can turn your clothing into 30 pounds of dead weight and give you a strong enough cold to make you miss 2 days of classes. (Totally worth it)

In non-sports news:

  • I really don't know how I'm surviving. I'm eating pasta for dinner 6 nights out of 7 with the other night being pizza. If anyone has any quick healthy and tasty meals, I'd love to hear from you.
  • Having my own room again is a godsend, even if I took up most of it by using 2 twin mattresses to form a king.
  • I've developed a strange love for all things Rhodesian/South African. Don't ask me why, I do however know why I love having their flags hanging in my room.
  • I bought a pith helmet while uh....slightly tipsy. (Visible in flag photo, look on the pillows.)

In gaming news, I bought Beatles Rock Band and one of the Guitars. Originally Gamestop sent me a ps3 controller instead of an xbox one, but the local store was kind enough to provide me with one in exchange. Great times have been had, hell, even my mother stopped by and played rock band with me and the guys at one point. Just goes to show that music and video games can bring people together. I've also pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2, and I honestly can't wait to play it. The new features, weapons, modes, etc is just too much for me to take. My favorite weapon in the world, the venerable FN FAL, has been confirmed to make an appearance, much to my excitement. I might lose my social life and academic responsibility when it finally arrives at my townhouse.

I've rediscovered my love for CoD4 yesterday and today. There's something satisfying about watching someone keel over as my G3 bucks on the screen. Been playing with old friends, my brother, my cousins, and random people. It's been a fantastic time and really reminds me how I lost so much time to this great game. I can only imagine how MW2 will turn out.

Few entertainment notes:

  • District 9 is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
  • The Hangover and The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard follow it closely.
  • Vortex by Larry Bond is easily my favorite novel of all time.
  • I've been spending a lot of time (embarrassinglyenough...) playing the Text Based RPG "Nationstates." It's like writing a cooperative novel.
  • Taylor Swift reminds me of an angel.
    • Kanye West is a terrible person D:

It all started on October 9th ..

.. Four years ago. A mate of mine told me about an Internet site on games. He'd been bugging me for a while and telling me about a certain "reporter" writing reviews for GS who liked exactly the same games as he did. I never really agreed on what a game should be with most GS reporters. But after reading a few user reviews I started reading more of those which gave me a better resource then any "professional review" ever could.

Not soon after I got into contact with a few GS members who told me about the union community. Groups of gamers liking a certain game, game character game Sty le. That's where the fun started for me. At first most people I ran into were Americans. And we all know how annoying they can be But in time I learned there were others like me. (scary thought isn't it? )

I soon forgot about the main GS forums and started posting in these unions. The OSUwas the first union I joined. And many followed after that. Places like Squaresoft union, Mafia Union and They Came To Play each kept me posting for a while. But I'll have to admit. One union kept me here most. The SKS I'm actually still a part of it. Even after turning my back on all those other unions. But each of these unions and many others brought me good times and many laughs.

But every union is just as good as it's members. A good leader is great. Active officers are a blessing. But enthusiastic members are what makes a union worth coming back to. I guess this blog is mostly me saying, Thank you for a good time. No worries. I'm not saying good bye. Or better yet. Please worry. I'm not saying good bye

Some days I come here and find out none of my posts made sense. Some of you might say those days are most days. And you may be right. But I come here to make some fun. If I manage to make a fool out of myself and get a laugh while doing so that's a bonus.

I Think I'm Back...

Whoa. 79 messages in my inbox. Shocking.

Well, what have I been up to? I'll outline that right now.

Fallout 3:

It's like a much better version of Oblivion with guns! At first when I bought it, I thought the whole 40s-50s retro idea would completely turn me off from it, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. The world seemed a bit small for me, though, I liked Oblivion's better. Also, the tons of debris in DC makes it hard to traverse except through the metro stations, which also kind of irritated me. Nonetheless, the game is a blast. I got the first 3 DLCs and they're awesome (albeit pretty short). And those plethora of delicious mods (not the nude ones, mind you). Enclave Commander FTW!

Prototype:

I needed a game with nothing but pure mayhem and carnage with a touch of backstory to give me reason to do it. Prototype was this game. I beat the game fairly fast and got bored of it, but it serves me very well in alleviating anger. Very, very well. I still play it from time to time.

Far Cry 2:

See, when I was at the store, I had to make a hard choice with my bros about this. It was either this game, or Dawn of War 2. Now, since there's 3 of us, we could only get 3 games (as per parent rules). So we decided to get FC2. I absolutely regret doing that. First thing that I noticed, and stood out glaringly: the BAD ACTING. Jesus, Ubisoft Montreal, WHERE did you get your voice actors? The only person that sounded even halfway decent was Xianyang Bai, and even then... eww. Second thing: the whole feel of the game... it just felt like GTA in Africa in FPS mode, with a few safe zones thrown between. I had no feeling of "being in the game" at all, no immersion. It was just pretty much just run, gun, shoot, grab pay, repeat.

Oh, and the Jackal looks a lot like Jack Carver from the first Far Cry. Speaking of which, I'll go play that later.

Now, onto real life. I've been taking SAT study classes at the behest of my parents. Suffice to say that I don't really like it. Well, I like the learning, just not the sheer heavy amounts of work that they put on us. It's kind of irritating, but 8 weeks is a long time...

Still playing RO private servers. The new one I've been playing on has kept me playing for 8 months now... can't really describe it, but there's some sort of charm with RO that always keeps me coming back to it. Maybe it's because it IS a P2P game officially, and I've been playing nothing but crap F2Ps...but yeah. Also, Aion is coming out soon. I wish I had a credit card for that.

Oh, another thing. ? MechWarrior 5? Yes, please.

atheism is

atheism offers nothing to me it never has and it never will

it doesn't make me feel good or comfort me it's not there for me when I'm sick or ill

it can't intervene in my times of need it wont protect me from hate and lies

it doesn't care if i fail or succeed it wont wipe the tears from my eyes

it does nothing when i have nowhere to run it wont give me wise-words or advise

it has no teachings for me to learn it can't show me whats bad or nice

it's never inspired or in-sighted anyone it wont help me fulfill my goals

it wont tell me to stop when I'm having fun it's never saved one single soul

it doesn't take credit for everything I achieve it's wont make me get down on bended knee

it doesn't demand that i have to believe it wont torture me for all eternity

it wont teach me to hate or despise others it can't tell me whats right or wrong

it wont tell anybody that they can't be lover it's told nobody that they don't belong

it wont make you think that life is worth living it has nothing to offers me that's true

but the reason atheism offers me nothing is because I've never asked it to

atheism offers nothing because it doesn't need to

Just a check up...

I don't know when I was last online, but I figured I'd blow some dust off of this ol' profile. RTSGU is dead, eh... wow. I've been gone a long time. I can't really say much, I'm both busy in real life and my laziness got the better of me.

Oh well.

Hello again. Goodbye. Again..

Wow it certainly has been a while. Thank my poor gaming skills for my reappearance. I got stuck and was looking up a game guide when I decided to stop in and see how everything's going around GS. It seems to be a pretty sad state of affairs. Even more departures and changes from what I can see.

More and more people are just cutting loose, and they just can't be replaced. I really think the golden age is over.

But just some quick updates on my life.

Started Year 11 at school this year, and man is it hard work. I've taken up 5 TEE subjects (HSC for anyone in the eastern states, and if you're not from australia, well, I don't know) Physics, Chemistry, Maths 3A, Maths Specialist and the compulsory English. I'm also doing a Contemporary Music course which is great

Gaming is virtually non-existant in my life now, I just don't have the time or the interest any more. Sigh.

Been writing A LOT, songs and poetry and whatnot, and getting some tracks recorded with my sitser.

Other than that, this year has been a tumultuous one for me. For a few years now, I have been struggling with depression, and things were going pretty badly for me. All of it came to a head in February this year when I was taking a night time walk with some friends. I tried to drown myself at the beach. Thankfully they got me to come back out of the water. Since then I've found help and am taking a course of medication. Had some couselling sessions but found it didn't really help much and gave up. Everything is so much better now though, I'm much much happier, and I'm okay with who I am. Life is beginning to make a lot more sense.

Now while I might not be staying here at Gamespot long, I would very much like to catch up with any old friends, so if you're around and want to chat, PM me. Or email me at hungryjacks_burgers@hotmail.com If any of you have msn you can also add me at this address

Or add me on myspace www.myspace.com/hungryjacks92

or Twitter http://twitter.com/jackhayesb

Well, that's all for now I guess...

Also, I realise I never did a farewell blog, so I guess this is it. To all of you still out there, goodnight and goodbye.

Dun! Dun! DUN! : Update

It's been a while. Laptop is up to date properly with all my settings and music and whatnot. Firefox is re-established. I've been working full-time this entire time. Don't have much time except for the weekends, and those are usually taken up with stuff (seeing new friends near new place, seeing friends from work at old place, seeing friends from old place, or seeing family), so I don't usually get a full weekend of relaxing at my house.

Still not playing Dawn of War 2... its because I doubt it will run on my computer. I can try, but I don't want to incase it doesn't work and I feel a huge need to play it 'cause I have it. I'd need to buy a proper gaming PC... and that's an expense I do not want to spend at the moment... maybe some time this summer, but not now!

Also got a guitar. I am the proud owner of a sky-blue Fender Straticaster (Korean). (Link provided by the great image searcher that is Google) That pic is exactly what my Strat looks like. Some minor cracks around the neck, and minus the wammy bar (I know. I know... I'll get a wammy bar), but those are not enough to take from its awesomeness. I have not been getting as much practise as I would like, but that's because of my work schedule, and time spent away from home and whatnot (cuts down on videogame, reading, guitar time).

...But it's all good in the end. Tired from working so much, but life is great. Keep on Rockin' in the Free World!

Why is this?

I went down a level, from 20 to 19!

That's really unfortunate since 20 takes really long!

Does someone know if this is possible? otherwise I'll have to contact the higher-ups..

Could be just another error since I'm not online a lot.

Later!
