This is a rant. It is only a rant. Please do not adjust your set.

So, for anybody that doesn't know, I just dropped a completely sick amount of money on a CE ofCoD MW2. Why did I do this. A) because 1 was so good I knew this would be epic. B)For all the cool **** that comes in the CE or C)because I am that one that is born every minute.

Yeah, I know, you all picked C.

Why, oh why must I always get sucked into the machine that is CE's. Nevermind that I just blew enough money to purchase 3 yes count them 3 new games, I did it for a game that is 4 hours long in single player mode. YES I AM SERIOUS!!!

This would be the part where the rant comes in. WHY IS STUPID MULTIPLAYER ******** BEING THRUST UPON MY UNWILLING SELF. WHY DO I HAVE TO GO HANG OUT WITH PEOPLE I DO NOT LIKE IN ORDER TO FEEL I GOT MY MONIES WORTH WHEN I BUY A GAME?MAYBE I WILL GET LUCKY AND MY FRIENDS WILL BE PLAYING BUT WHAT IF THEY AREN'T? WHY IS ALL DLC GEARED TOWARDS MULTIPLAYER? WHAT IF I HAVE NO DESIRE TO HANG AROUND WITH 10 YEAR OLDS TELLING EACH OTHER TO GO **** A BISON? WHAT IF ALL MY FRIENDS HAPPEN TO BE PLAYING SOME ******* RPG THAT I DON'T WANNA PLAY? YOU PEOPLE (AND I USE THE TERM LOOSELY) THAT ARE DESIGNING ALL THIS ONLINE MULTIPLAYER ******** JUST STOP IT. i SWEAR TO MY DOG, i AM GOING TO STOP BUYING GAMES. I COULD SPEND THE NEXT 40 YEARS PLAYING ONES I ALREADY HAVE AND I WOULDN'T MAKE A DENT AND PROBABLY HAVEENOUGH MONEY WITH ALL THE MONEY I DIDN'T SPEND TO BUY YOU******* AND FIRE ALL OF YOUR ******SO JUST STOP IT. I don't care if there is multiplayer. Lots of people like that sort of thing. I suppose. Although I don't seem to know many. Other then Robert. And maybe James. But still, come on. Don't rob me of my game. That doesn't seem fair to me. Be reasonable. There are still hundreds of thousands of people on dial up for **** sake. They certainly aren't able to take part in multiplayer.

I am so very ***** *** right now. You have no idea. I may even take it back. I've never done that in my entire history as a gamer, but I am seriously considering it.

Sometimes all there is to do is shake your head

My very good friend Seth has once again put forth a very intelligent and well written blog which can be found here and is definitely worth the read. I think the thing I look forward to most when Seth comes to stay at my place over the Christmas holidays is some intelligent conversation about things gaming related. My son is good, but an 8 year old no matter what his IQ level can only take you so far.

Seths blog as it so often does, got me thinking about the topic he brought up and then an expanded version thereof. While Seth was talking about GS users and the closed minded and often mean spirited comments they were making about an article about a visually impaired gamer. That unto itself is pretty pathetic, but of course it got me thinking about GS users in general.

First off, as a community I think that GameSpot has some of the greatest people that have ever come together on the internet to share thoughts about their passion for gaming. I also think that the ones that are bad, are pretty damn bad. Other than Seths blog today, I see that my Friend Lucas is once again being stalked by the thumb down all the comments stalker. This is done for no reason other than to antagonize someone who is a really good guy. Lucas goes out of his way to be nice to everybody and for some reason this is what he gets in return. Then on the forums we have the people that take pleasure in making others feel small.

I braved the forums last night. As you all know, I almost never go there. The tone of the forums has changed dramatically over the last couple of years. I used to post in them fairly regularly. Now a couple of times a year is about my limit. I did what I find I always do when confronted with the grace and charm that is the forums lately. I posted and ran. It makes me really kind of sad and angry that I feel I have to do that though.

Last night in the space of about 20 minutes I came across these shining examples of everything that is wrong with the internet. On a thread about theology. OMG are we going to talk about this AGAIN? Anyone who believes XXX has obviously never opened a textbook or they are functionally slow. (that is not verbatim, just the general gist. The moderators do not take posts like that kindly and thankfully it was quickly removed). I am not a fan of religious threads but I do believe that when handled properly a lot of very good discussion can be had. It was a religious blog that actually brought me and someone I hold in very high regard together over the internet.I am not religious, but I do firmly support anyone that is.

A poster started a thread about something that happened yesterday that was news worthy. It was something that I had not read yet. The poster provided a link and his thoughts on the subject. He or she was immediately hit with OLD, Why don't you post some current news, and OMG this is soooooo old. This article was only hours old. Gamespot was the first place I heard anything about it. This one bothers me simply because I do not have all day to hit the F5 button every two seconds. People eventually will just stop posting stuff much like I did because they are tired of seeing this. How about if you have already seen the article or been made aware of it somehow just move on to the next thread. Maybe some of us, you know those of us with jobs and such have not seen it yet.

Then you have the know it all. Rule 1 for the know it all is that they are always right. Rule 2 is that if you do in fact find a flaw with their logic, see rule 1. You know the ones. No matter what argument you bring forth, no matter where you stand on a particular issue, you are wrong and they are right. They are always right. Even if you have irrefutable proof that they are incorrect, see rule 1. This bothers me because threads which could otherwise be interesting and productive are quickly turned into a bickering match between a couple of posters.

Then of course you have my personal favorites the grammar and spelling police. I love them. I myself am not always grammatically correct. My spelling on occasion needs help as well. I do realize that there is a spell check button and I am sure everyone else does too. If we choose not to use it so what. Even if someone has used an incorrect word, or misspelled something almost everyone can make out what the person is trying to say. Why do the grammar and spelling police feel compelled to point out the shortcoming of others to them? Does it somehow make them feel better about themselves. Do you think they go to bed with a sense of accomplishment because I comes before E except after C DAMMIT!!

Once in a while from the forums you will even get your very own stalker. I got one once. Eventually they found someone else to haunt and left me alone. All because I posted something about a console that they did not agree with. I had a very solid argument backed by data and user testimonial. My point was that even though it is my go to console it is not infallible. That was all. From that I got harassing PM's, rude comments in my blogs and because my email is public, a ton of very creepy emails.

The only forum I enjoy at all anymore is ask the mods. Sadly, I don't know if I enjoy it because the people that are doing these things to make the forums less enjoyable are being called out for it or if it is because none of the know it all, smart alec, told ya so posters are allowed to jump in and say anything. I wish everyone would read ask the mods. Read and comprehend. The forums would be ever so much more inviting if everyone would just learn the rules of GS and try and abide by them.

Reminder: (remember I did warn you about this) I still need several addresses for Christmas cards. You know who you are. That is all.......until my next blog.

Would somebody do me a favour?

Ok, so my friend ImaginaryFriend brought it to my attention that old navy has a deal on Black Friday. If you spend $20 on cloths you can get lego rockband free while supplies last. This is not available in Canada. Cuz you guys get all the boss deals. So, I was wondering if anybody would be willing to go to oldnavy on black friday and spend the $20 I will send you on an extra large oldnavy sweatshirt for me and something for whoever goes shopping for me, and get my free copy of lego rockband. Then you will need to send it to me with the money I will send you for postage. I dunno, it doesn't sound like a really big deal to me, and if one of you guys asked me, I'd do it. So I'm asking friend to friend please please please please please please please please please please. I'm sorry but Old Navy AND a free video game (even if it is lego rockband) is just too hard to pass up.

Guess what time of year it is? It's that time of year when I lose whatever tenuous grip I have on reality most of the time and get ready for Christmas. So, it is once again time for the great Kelly's Christmas card list addresses of my imaginary friends roundup. WeeeHaaaw!! Official bed, Setho10, GodModeEnabled, Wren28, tiggerboy, andJbul are excused because I already have them. Austin LIght I need your and Brookes new address because I only have the old one. Scott MI need your new address because I only have the old one. Everybody else is encouraged to supply me via pm or email your address so that you can receive a Christmas card from me. This started between Kate (wren28 ) and I about 4 Christmas's ago and my list of recipients has grown every year. I will be posting reminders in every blog from now until the end of the first week of December. This is something that really truly gives me a warm happy feeling so don't wreck it for me.

Tonight, my plan is to eat some of the pizza that I just ordered and finish Fatal Frame. Once that is done I think I i will try and finish Ghost Busters since I never did, and then tomorrow if time permits, I am going to finish Saw. For anyone interested, if you like the movies this game is not bad at all. If you were not a fan of the movies or didn't see them, I'm not sure that it would hold much interest for you. I am pleasantly surprised to say that barring a really bad ending, I'd give this game a solid 7.5 to 8.0 I am going to be writing a review of this one as soon as I finish it as well.

I am so glad I decided to play Fatal Frame again. It has really made me feel like my old self as far as gaming goes.

Have a great weekend everyone. Don't forget to send me your adresses please. Thanks.

Hold me, I'm frightened.

I've noticed lately that I have been losing my interest in gaming.... I KNOW, I FREAKED OUT TOO!!Every once in a while I fall into a place where no matter what game I play it feels like I am just playing the same game with different characters and cover art. Today I sat and thought about what game through all the generations for whatever reason I really found impressive. I threw Fatal Frame into the xbox today and took it for a ride. Fatal Frame for anyone who has not played it, is a Japanese Survival Horror. You are armed with a Camara that can collect Evil Spirits. The game is very story driven, but the camara as a weapon is extremely cool and this game is Pee your pants scary. Playing it in the dark is only for those withnerves of steel. The first time I played it, Chris came to watch me at some point. He screamed out loud twice and turned the lights on.Now, I didn't hold out much hope as I started it so deep has my game depression been lately, but 10 minutes in I was hooked. I played Fatal Frame from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm today pausing long enough to get my son off of the bus at 4pm and take a couple of quick pee breaks. It was awesome. I haven't been enthralled in a game like I was today in a long time. Even now, my console is paused not turned off. I will be going back as soon as I am done here. I just feel so good I wanted to share. I know that most of us go through what I call gaming angst every once in a while so next time it hits you go back to a game that you remember really rocked your world and see if it still does. I am totally out of my funk. I am thinking already of what I am going to play next. I am looking forward to a weekend of gaming. I am feeling totally like myself.

My friend Seangave blood today. Sean reminded me that it is something that I need to do again as soon as I am able. It is something that if you are able to do everyone should do. Everybody knows someone or knows someone that knows someone that will require emergency blood at some point in their life. Please if you are able too, give blood. You rock Sean, I wuv you.

My very dear friend Austin wrote a fantastic little blog about unplugging. Check it out if you have a chance. The man has some valid points and I for one am intending to take his advice.

Christophers Master Chief costume was a rousing success Halloween night. It was the only one that we saw and it seems he has been crowned King of the boys age 8 to 20 lol. So many teenage boys jumped up and down saying how cool his costume was it was amusing.

Woohoo it's Friday.

Yay, it's Friday. Tomorrow is Halloween. Christopher looks so cool in his Master Chief costume. No I can't take a picture because the camera apparently got stolen shortly after the video camera. I hope my stepdaughter got half decent money for them at least. Actually, I could probably take a picture on my crack-berry. I'll try that tomorrow.

Christopher had a Halloween party at school today. We baked a milk chocolate cake with orange flavoured frosting. He helped me decorate it and it turned out actually pretty good considering an 8 year old did half of it. He was very intent when I showed him how to use the pastry bag. He messed up the first couple of inches, scraped the icing off and started again and he did really really well. So it looked like a jack-o-lantern. It had orange icing with green sugar sprinkles for the stem, a chocolate sprinkle mouth and yellow eyes and nose with two blue sour candies for the pupils. He said the kids loved it and since 22 kids at a cake big enough for 45 people I guess it was pretty good. I got my cake board back with some crumbs and a smear of icing.

Obviously since it's a small country school, most of the kids remain in the same cIass with each other right through to high school. All the parents of Christophers cIassmates know that I am a chef. It was brought up at the first parent meeting for his room that if there were no objections I would do all the baking for cIass parties, but in exchange I was not expected to contribute to any purchased candy or presents for the room. It works out really well that way.

Tonight Christopher and I are going to make sponge toffee. I usually make two big pans. One pan will be just plain sponge toffee and the other will be chocolate covered sponge toffee. It keeps really well and both of my guys really like it. While the sponge toffee is cooling I am going to make some berry jellies. Those are a gift for Christopher's bus driver. It is her Birthday on November the 3rd. Christopher gave everyone on the bus a jelly last year and his bus driver still asks all the time if I am going to make more. I will make 2lbs so that we have some here as well.

Chris has gone to Brantford to see his friend Dan, so looks like I've got the night off. Think I might throw a game in my 360 in a bit and see if I can get XBL to work for me. If you see me on and you want to play send me a message K?

Have a great night everybody. Sean I want pictures of your gorilla suit.

About Me

My name is Kelly. I am 41, born august 10th 1968. I have one child (well, two if you count my husband) and two very large dogs. Bucyrus is a 150lb mastiff. That is his awesome picture over my blog. He is sweet as a summer day if he knows you, and god help you if he doesn't. The other is a 257lb st Bernard named mushi. The name is self explanatory once you meet him I love gaming, mostly because it is an escape from the realities of day to day life. I have been playing video games since I was about 4 or 5, since the days of colecovision and atari. I like that if I am having a crap day I can go shoot things till I feel better. Or I can scare myself with a good horror survival game. My favorite platform is xbox, although I own an xbox, a ps1, ps2 , gamecube, a 360, a ps3 and a wii. I still have all my old consoles as well. My favorite game is Fatal Frame. It is truly an amazing game. The Fatal frames are also my favorite series. I am a huge fan of all horror survival games. I loved doom 3, although I would characterize that as more of a shooter, still a very creepy game. I am not a fan of RPG's. I don't get the point. I don't hate on any console nor am I a rabid fan of any console. I just like whatever plays good games. I don't care what else it can do as long as it plays good games.
