Beryllium Mod not working
Beryllium Mod not working for me in Quake 3 Arena.
Don't know what's going on. I downloaded the mod files from the main hosting site.Also F3ar helped me out with his own pk3 files.
It seems Quake isn't loading the MOD at all. The beryl site http://beryllium.planetquake.gamespy.com//docs.shtm said it's only tested upto 1.15C actually it's tested till 1.29 (the readme said - This build based of Source from Quake 3 1.29).
I created my own PR(Point Release) Changer based on original PR Changer by Python (python@railbait.com).
My PR converter can interconvert between all Quake PRs released while the original can only convert between 1.30 1.32.
It's working like a charm.
But the problem with beryl MOD remains.
I can play in the servers hosting beryl mod without difficulty.
But I cannot load the beryl mod. F3ar sent me a screenshot of how the menu looks in beryl but I didn't get any such thing which imples the MOD is not loading.
I tried all quake versions from 1.27g,1.29,1.30,1.32

What is this?
- This little thing interconvertes the point release version between any one of 1.16 , 1.27g , 1.30 ,1.32.
It can dynamically change Point Release (PR) version of Quake III Arena.
The aim is to allow gamers to play online on servers running multiple protocols of Quake3. For example if one client has PR 1.30 it can connect to server running 1.30 only & can never join a server running the latest 1.32 PR
This utility aims to resolve the issue.
Why ?
- ever tried to play on a server & got the error " this server uses protocol 43 "
What these "protocol" errors mean?
- Different quake point releases uses different protocols to connect to servers . If a point release ver 1.16 client tries to connect to a server patched to ver 1.32 ( the latest) it usually gets the error protocol 68.
The PR & the protocols they use are -
1.16 is Protocol 43
1.27 is Protocol 48
1.30 is Protocol 66
1.31 is Protocol 67
1.32 is Protocol 68
How to install this tool ?
- 1> first download point release 1.32 & apply that
You need to have PR 1.32 otherwise there may be some errors
I am not sure but your game might stop working.
- 2> backup the quake3.exe
- 3> now unrar these files to quake3 arena install dir
- 4> make a shortcut to desktop for quake3.exe
To play & dynamically change ver - run the required batch file
For e.g.,
Run 116.bat to play on a protocol 43 servers
In ZigZag server (protocol 66) use 130.bat
You can check whether the version is really changed as follows: -
Press ~ to bring down console. Look at the bottom right corner of the console. The PR no should be there.

Ho HO Exam is on my head and i am playing QUAKE. I hate all those idiots who get better grades than me even though I am the smarter one in class. OK nobody should read this. I am letting out my supressed anger.......... "Strike their head agauinst the wall untill they pass out."..............
