Slowing down on these blogs..

Well, I'm having my doubts that anyone is reading these (not that I care very much anyways), but I'm not really gonna waste my time writing them anymore. Maybe occasionally, but not much.

I haven't blogged in a while...so what..?

My life has been extremely uneventful. I got into the top band in Jazz, which made me happy. That's about it, other than finding a new favorite game: F.E.A.R. I've beaten it, along with the first expansion, Extraction point, and I'm now playing "Perseus Mandate", preparing for "Project Origin". Well....that's about it. And as a reply, no I don't sing for Jazz (that's for my band that I started, which didnt go down as well as I thought...), I play Sax and Clarinet.

Not Much New...

The past week or two has been pretty uneventful. This Thursday my school "Ellington" Band, or in other words top band is going to Reno. That'll be pretty cool. On the subject of music, my band has had a practice in which we got one of our songs down. Not much else to report, so enjoy this:

Blog #....I lost count?

I realized that one of my passions in life is music. I LOVE music. I love listening to it, making it, playing it, and just letting it flow through me. I can appreciate almost every kind of music except for the genres that take no talent and have no purpose other than to make money off the masses. I'm starting a band, which is going to be an Alternative Metal project called "Malignant". I'm just gathering all of my Senior friends and we're gonna play some shows. I've already written 7 songs for the band. I'm also composing a Classical Chart called "Wavelength" which I'm sending to CSUN to have their band play. If they like it, I'll get a cut of the "Box-Office" fee, and a free showing. If possible I'll get a vid of my band and I playing at the end of the year "Battle of the Bands" or whatnot before I graduate. I'm the vocalist by the way.

Anyways, in other news my girlfriend and I are still together. We've been going out for about 7 or 8 months. I really love her

My grades are almost too good. So, in other words I've really rebounded form my depression at the beginning of January. I'm in a constant state of euphoria now. Also, i was accepted to UCSB (UC Santa Barbara) in which I'm thinking of going to. My first choice (Seattle University) still hasn't replied.

Life flippin' pwns, and expect a blog by Monday or Tuesday.

School and 2k Posts.

Well, the main reason I hadn't blogged in a while was because of school. Senioritis got really bad on me, and I started getting D's and F's. By the end of the first semester I had about a 3.5 GPA (Which I had finally gotten due to making up a ****load of work). I finally got it under control last month and my GPA now is a 3.9 soon to be a 4.0.

I was also busy beating a lot of games . I finished Assassin's Creed, COD4, Condemned 2, Condemned: CO (I hadn't beaten it yet), and Mass Effect. Now I'm just playing Rock Band online which is damn fun.

Also, as a side note I reached 2,000 posts. Considering I'm a lvl 28 with 2k posts it's kinda sad, but whatever.

Anyways, expect another blog up no later than next Sunday. Ta! Ta!

Yes, It's Been A While.

Hello all of my very few blog followers. The reason this blog has been late in coming is for various reasons....

1.) The departure of Jeff, Ryan, and all my other favorite editors made me lose hope in the site for a time.

2.) Girl Problems... (Everyone's got em`)

3.) Finals and School: Band has been a pain in the ass, and finals were hellish, considering they're the last set I'll be taking until the end of the year (In which I'll graduae from HS...W00T!!!)

4.) Lethargic-ness: I've just been lazy.

Anyways, I'm gonna start up on blogs again, involving the rest of my favorite artists, my trip to Hawaii, and information on my s-called "girl Problems". Thanks for wiating all of you (2 people). I love you guys.

PS: I'm not leaving Gamespot, after pondering it for a while.

Favorite Bands List (7-5)

Well, it's finally here! Please comment, and I'm open to your opinions. Enjoy....

7:

Foo Fighters

After the end of one of the most controversial bands in history, Dave Grohl, the drummer of Nirvana, decided he wanted to change his way of playing. Forgetting all his grunge influences from the 80's band, he formed a new band, in the year after Nirvana's break up. Their name? Foo Fighters. The "Foo" are an alternative rock band, and that, off the bat is already a turn-on. The Foo Fighters have a great sound. Grohl's guitar changes from acoustic to electric a lot, so many of their songs are either softer, and more subdued, or flat out hard rock. Having spawned 6 studio albums, and a bounty of live albums, including a DVD (Skin & Bones) Foo Fighters have grown to be quite a popular band. With their newest release, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, they have released an unforgettable single "The Pretender". All-In-All, the Foo Fighters are a sensational band that you should definetly check out if you haven't already.

6:

Megadeth

What else can you say about Megadeth, other than that they're an amazing Thrash Metal band? The answer is, a lot. After departing Metallica, Dave Mustaine,a superbguitarist, started a new band. The result? Megadeth. After a couple albums, they released "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?", this album was the first to get me hooked on Megadeth and is a great starting point for future fans. One great thing about Megadeth is their exceptional use of Snarling, and their great guitar solos. Ah, yes, the music. Megadeth has released a plethora of albums, and I've only found 6 or 7 songs hard to sit through. Being an exceptional guitarist himself, Mustaine has started a great band. Only fault I have with Megadeth is that they can't play exceptionally well live.

5:

Blind Guardian

Blind guardian is a power metal/speed metal band hailing from Germany. What makes them stand out fromthegeneric metal bands we hear on the radio every day, but never pay attention to because they're so horrid, (Rant, sorry )you ask? Their sound is very good. Above average? Nope. Amazing. If you ask me their sound is absolutely amazing, and their newest album, "A Twist In the Myth" got me hooked. No matter what you say, I still believe blind guardian is an amazing band. consisting of 4 members, Blind Guardian has a great sound, their singer Hansi Kürsch, has a great voice. Their guitarists are also great. Having performed live with other very good bands, blind guardian can actually play live! They're very good live, in my opinion, and if you haven't already, check them out!

Well, I'm open to opinions, so please, comment!

My Top 10 Favorite Bands (10-8)

Alright, first let me apologize for the Two-Week wait. It was late for two reasons. The most important reason is I had a ton of homework. The second, more trivial reason, is I was mulling over which bands to put. anyways, here it is:

10:

Rage Against the Machine

Starting off the list, is a more unique band. I started listening to Rage Against the Machine when I first heard Killing In the Name from GH II. Rage Against the Machine is extremely likable for many reasons. First off, their music is downright amazing, and unique. They've been pouring out Hip Hop, Funk, and even various genres of metal since 1991. Secondly, most of their lyrics actually MAKE SENSE. Yes, it's true, this is an extremely big turn-on considering a lot of artists/groups pour out songs that sound good, but their lyrics make no sense, whatsoever. Another reason I absolutely adore Rage, is they support global issues. You'll find political issues from their lyrics, to their album cover-art. A unique, but "acquired-taste" group, Rage has earned their place in music history.

9:

Metallica

Few words can be used to describe Metallica other than amazing, controversial, and "Thrash Gods". Although, many think of Metallica from their "Black" album on, their prior albums ARE MUCH BETTER, and blew me away when I first heard them. Metallica helped start out "Thrash Metal", and have stuck to that formula through most of their career (Exceptions Include Fade To Black, and various instrumental tunes). Their abrasive vocals, and melodic guitar riffs almost put me in a lull. The overplayed "Enter Sandman" marked their downhill slope, but you can' deny that albums like "Ride the Lighning", "...and Justice For all", and "Master of Puppets" have reinvented what metal should be. Metallica goes down in history as the pioneers of thrash, and I love em` for it.

8:

Dragonforce

Dragonforce is a band that has redefined what Power Metal should be. Having onlythree albums, they are a fairly new band, but have more than earned their place inthe Power Metal 100 Greatest. Calling themselves an "Extreme Power Metal" band, they've been having the heads of appreciative fans banging for a solid 9 years, and counting. Having heavy influences from video game soundtracks, they also have unique "Twin-Guitar" solos. The only reason Dragonforce didn't rank higer in my list, is their vocals still leave much to be desired. All said and done, Dragonforce is a revolutionary band that works well together, and creates a melodic atmosphere everyone should get immersed in.

Thanks for reading my list. Expect (7-5) in the next couple of weeks. Later!

Blog #8.

Welcome to blog numero ocho (Number eight). Since my last blog I've decided on a few things. First off, in honor of Matrix_hiei I'm going to make a top 10 favorite bands list. I also tested out some new artists.

School: School is going well, I've recently asked a girl out (lol). We got some sushi and it was cool. Also, in Jazz the guitarist likes metal! W00t! He's the only person i know who has similar interests that i have.

Favorite Bands list: Yes, it will be coming in the next few weeks or so, and it will have my top 10 favorite bands. Only Matrix could make this popular.

New artists: I decided to test out a few new artists, and since i was low on cash I bought just one song from each. Including Sonata Artcitca and Muse. I purchased the song Full Moon by Sonata, and it was great! I love how most of their songs are live! I also got Knights of Cydonia by Muse. It was pretty good, yet very dfferent. All the same I'm definetly get more of those two artists.

Until next time, Asta La Oueigo (Goodbye, i think).

Blog # 6&7: SUPERBLOG

Hey, fellow GS'ers. I'm sorry for missing last week's blog, but I was swamped with homework and my Uncle's wedding. Anyways, there's some news in here....

Bioshock: I beat it. Great game, but a bit of a dissapointing ending for saving all the little sisters. All-In-All I give it a 9.0/10. Solid game with only the problems of very, very minor hitching issues, and dissapointing ending. I mean if you go through the effort of saving all those LS'ers you should get a better ending!

School: It's pretty good. My favorite class is Jazz because my teacher really likes prog, and we get along well.

Music: Lots of news here. I got a bunch of new albums. I got my first Lacuna Coil album, InA Reverie. Very, very good album! I love it. I've listened to about 3/4 of the album and my favorite song so far is Cold. I also got Train of Thought by Dream Theater. It's amazing! Very heavy, and dark. Some of their best. In addition to those I purchased Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I had about half the album, and got the other half. Considering that they're my favorite band, of course I loved it.

Other than that, I got a keyboard in my room. I finally set it up. It's very fun to play Dragonforce on it . Well, I'll try to get blog # 8 on time next week. Until next time, later.

Blog, Week 5. New Stuff.

Hey guys. This is blog #5, and today I'll be sharing my opinion on the new Genetically Enhanced FPS Bioshock, along with an uodated favorite bands list. So, getting on with it...

BIOSHOCK: Bioshock is a FPS that varies from the average formula's that most FPS's tend to dwell on. Like Run & Gunning. It brings the genre in a whole new direction. For instance you get special powers called Plasmids that allow you to shoot lightning from your fingers, or light foes aflame. The developers wanted to help you use your environment to your advantage. Like, let's say if you light somebody on fire, they in turn will jump in the water, and you can electrocute them, etc. Speaking of the environment, where does Bioshock take place? An underwater city called Rapture that has gone horribly wrong. You play the protagonist, an average guy who's plane has crashed into the Atlantic Ocean and you need to survive inside Rapture. There are genetic freaks called splicers, who have used a bit too many plasmids on themselves and in turn have gone crazy, and look disgusting. They are your main enemy... Along with the Big Daddies and Little Sisters. I won't go into much detail because in order to completely experience the game you must play it yourself, and even though I haven't beaten yet,I highly recommend it! The combat is excellent, the graphics are amazing, and the story is extremely deep. Go and buy it now!

In other news, here's my updated Favorite Bands list, as promised...

FAVORITE BANDS (In Alphabetical Order):

Metal: Blind Guardian, Dragonforce, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden,Megadeth, Metallica, Opeth (New).

Other: Foo Fighters, Guns N` Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rush (New).

As you can see I've dropped Disturbed from the list, and put Iron Maiden back up.There's a few new faces on the list. The big one is Opeth. I bought my first album by them. Damnation. It's a great Progressive Album. I love it, and I'll definetly be listening to a lot more Opeth. Rush is also a new one. I finally caved in to adding them, after running through Snakes & Arrows, and Moving Pictures too many times. Anyways, expect an updated list within the next couple of weeks. See you guys next week, with a newblog!

Blog, Week 4. Bioshock and Album news.

Hey, all my current blog followers, I've pre-ordered Bioshock at EB games and I'm eagerly awaiting it. I'm losing sleep over it, haha. I also bought some Bawl's to drink for the upcoming Tuesday (Launch date).

I also purchased Dream Theater's 05` "Octavarium" CD. It's really sweet and all the song are great. In my opinion, buy it! t also contains my most lengthy song, "Octavarium" which is 24 minutes long. I still need new Artist Ideas, so any would be appreciated. My favorite Genre's are Metal (Power, Speed, Progressive specifically), Rock, and Classical. And matrix, thanks a lot for the music ideas from last week. Expect another blog up the following Saturday with new Bioshock news, and updated favorite artists. Until next time, later!

Hey guys. Sorry about the late blog. Canada was pretty sweet. Lots of fishing and talking to my parents. Anyways, I'll be picking up a few albums in the next couple of days. If you have any suggestions let me know. Also, the Bioshock demo came out yesterday. It's twisted. Until next time, later.

FAVORITE BANDS (In Alphabetical Order):

Metal: Blind Guardian, Disturbed (May or may not count), Dragonforce, Dream Theatre, Megadeth, Metallica

Other: Foo Fighters, Guns N` Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

There are many other bandsI like, but these are my current favorites. Expect an updated list within the next month.

Blog, Week 2. One-Thousand Posts! W00t!!!

To tell you the truth, I never thought I would make it. I saw many other users with 3,000 posts and up, and thought to myself, "That's never gonna happen to me." But I made it, by persevering, (and spamming Off-Topic and GMDU boards...Just kidding). Damn, it feels good.

Anyways, I've been at a saxaphone jazz camp with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. In case you haven't heard of them, they are a Big Band-style jazz band that have crisply refined jazz since the 90's. Their members include Erik Marienthal, Andy Martin, and Wayne Berrgeron. It was awesomely fun, and I learned some new styles and techniques, along with tunes. I also recently purchased two new albums, Snakes & Arrows, by Rush, and Valley of the Damned, by Dragonforce. They're freakin` awesome! ...My favorite tracks from Snakes & Arrows are "Far Cry"and "Armor and Sword". I also got Valley of the Damned by Dragonforce, which I have to say is better than their previous album, Sonic Firestorm. This new album is extremely high grade, but I couldn't pick a favorite track, because they are all so good. Anyways, expect a new blog later next week, when I get back from Canada (Saturday). I'm going there to hang with my Parents in Vancouver. Anyways, Peace.
