Just Killing Time Day 2 or T-Minus 7 Days...

So, another day has passed which means we're one day closer to my November release happy window. I mean games, you perverts, not a service rendered in a massage parlor so get your heads out of the gutter!

This last week is going to be tough on me I can already tell.

Let me give you an analogy that all you men will understand and women could learn a thing or two from.

Guys, do you know when you and your lady are going out for the night in which you have to dress nicely? Of course you do.

Now, you know what happens when you're completely dressed and ready to go and just waiting on your prettier half to get finished? You're sitting there trying to pass the time but can't get into anything too involved because you're leaving any minute. So, you basically write off your first 15 choices of things to pass the time and settle on something you would not do otherwise. Read your girlfriend's Cosmo. Straighten up the coffee table. Empty the ashtray.

This sucks! You can't do anything you really want to do because you're out the door as soon as she finishes in the bathroom so you're stuck trying to pass a relative small amount of time doing stuff that you don't care to do. It's agony.

This is where I'm at now. Any minute (7 days from now) my girlfriend (MW2) will be ready (released) and I'm ready to go. The problem is that I can't get into any new games because I won't finish them. I don't want to play my old games because all I can think about is how great MW2 is going to be.

Seeing as how 7 days is a little more time than the 35 minutes you spend waiting for your girl to be ready (even though she said she only needed 5) so I've decided to get my read on.

Last night I read the first volume of the Sandman graphic novel and it was awesome! It was a little slow getting going but once it did it was quite good. I wholeheartedly recommend this series to anyone into graphic novels... its great.

The bad news was the I breezed through the first volume in about 2 hours thus leaving me still 7+ days to kill until MW2. After I picked it up and put it down I decided to read a book that I bought my gf a few months ago but she never got into... "The Strain" by Guillermo del Toro and some other guy.

So far so good but I just hope that I can stretch this one book out into a week so that by the time I'm finished it will be late Monday night and I'll be in line at my local Gamestop waiting to get my hands on MW2.

Still trudging though RE5 and I feel kinda bad. Had this game come along at any other point in my life I'm sure that I would be all about it. However, since I'm forcing myself to play it as a way of killing time until MW2 it just feels like a chore. Plus, I'm more than half way though so my time with it is coming to a close. Once I finish it (if I ever do) it will go back to Gamestop for trade.

Expect blogs like this for the next seven days and hopefully they won't get too sad and pathetic but if they do at least you can watch me slowly go insane for your entertainment... god, I love my readers.

Take care and happy gaming!

Just Killing Time...

Halloween is finally behind us and that can only mean one thing... November is here and with it all the games that I've been dying to play!

I've decided to pass on Dragon Age: Origins for the time being as a game that involved should probably be saved until I have a lot of free time not devoted to new releases. It looks amazing but I simply won't have the time for it and by the time I do hopefully it will be cheap.

November 10 is the day that I have circled, underlined, starred and highlighted on my calendar. Modern Warfare 2 has become the game that I have wanted the most in a long time. I thought Beatles: Rock Band was going to be that but while it was great I really could have waited to get it. MW2 is a midnight launch purchase. I've already set up some multiplayer matches with some of the guys that I work with who will also be picking the game up at midnight. I CANNOT wait.

On November 17 Left 4 Dead 2 will make its way into the house. I know what you're thinking... two shooters? Well, L4D2 is more for my gf than it is for me. It's her MW2 with the level of excitement. If I had to ask her I KNOW she would say it was the GoTY last year... she just loved it and with all the refinements in gameplay I'm sure we'll log many, many hours on this puppy.

Assassin's Creed 2 also launches that day but with two new gaming purchases in two weeks there just won't be enough fundage to be spending money like a sailor on leave. This will too be put off until a point in 2010 when I have a ton of free time but I'm pretty sure the remained of 2009 will be filled with MW2.

Then once 2010 rolls around there is Alpha Protocol, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Mass Effect 2 and a few others. For the first time in a long time I really think that there are a lot of games coming down the pike that I cannot wait to play.

In the meantime I'm still slogging through RE5 mostly as a way to keep busy and so I can finish it up by the time Nov 10 rolls around.

The game's not bad but since its my first RE since Code Veronica I have no idea what's really going on. I just feel like I dropped into the middle of a season of 24... I have no idea who's who or what the hell's going on. I find myself almost forcing myself to play it just as a means of not rushing out and buying something cheap just to fill time when that money could be spent elsewhere.

What are you guys looking forward to most? Are we gonna have some GS MW2 gamenights in the future? Are you pumped for something a little under the radar? Let me know... I'm curious.

Take care and happy gaming.

Some Thoughts / Questions...

How's everybody been?

I've been really crappy here. Lots of things going on and the things that I thought I could always depend on might not be around much longer and that sucks.

With that being said I wanted to ask some questions and get your opinions/knowledge/personal experiences.

Away we go.

1. I played RE5 Co-Op today with a complete stranger (a 13 year old kid home sick from school) and I don't know that I had that much fun. It was nice because he was way better than the partner AI nad having played the game through before he was extremely helpful in giving tips but at the same time I don't think I felt the "enjoyment" of playing with another person. Had it been a friend of mine I'm sure it would have been better but a stranger was just kind of weird. Do you guys like to play Co-Op with strangers or does it have to be friends?

2. What are the rules for uploading video blogs to the site? What is the time limit? How do I credit music? Do I have to do it while the song is playing or can I just tack it on at the end? Do I have to credit video game footage if I got it from Gamespot? What about bad language? Can I bleep it out or do I have to cut it out all together? Any other things that I might need to know would be helpful. Thanks.

3. I was thinking about pre-ordering some games from Amazon because they have some amazing deals going on but was wondering when I would receive the games? Do they ship on the day they release and therefore get here a few days or later or do they ship so that they arrive on launch day?

4. How is Borderlands? I think I might need something to keep me busy until L4D2 and COD: MW2 come out and it seems like something my girlfriend and I might enjoy playing together. MSNBC has a quickie "review" of Borderlands written from the female game writer perspective and while its hilarious it doesn't really address the game. Read it here. Tell me what you guys have thought of it.

Thanks for you time and your input. I appreciate it.

Take care and happy gaming.

I Give Up (Gears 2 Edition)

Before I begin please allow me time to put on my flame proof suit because I'm probably about to commit some sort of gamer sin here and I feel like I should be prepared.

Ok... ready?

Gears of War 2 was awful. Not just awful but ****ing atrocious.

I couldn't stand it any longer so I went and exchanged it for Resident Evil 5. I just couldn't take anymore.

I wish I could put into words how bad I thought this game was.

It was so bad that I would need to create new adjectives just to scratch the surface of my disdain.

Hopefully, RE5 will be a much better game. If not then I might just give up and get a PS3... damn I want to play Uncharted 2 and Infamous SO bad.

Have any of you ever played a game that everyone else loved and you just couldn't stomach?

Hope you're doing well.

Take care and happy gaming.

Laughlyn is in the House! (Literally)

So, after more than a week of being gone from good old GS, I'm back.

We've finally gotten settled in the new house and have internets again.

I won't bore you with a ton of stuff related to the new house other than to say that its a whole lot bigger and better than our last place.

The only downside to the new house is that now that we're in a bigger house with bigger furniture my pathetic TV looks even sadder now that it's placed against a huge wall.

Needless to say that living in a grown up house will not quite feel as grown up as I would like as long as I'm watching TV and gaming on a 20" LCD.

If anyone comes across any good deals on a 1080p 40+" LCD TV's I would really appreciate a heads up.

Now, onto some gaming items.

We got Beatles: Rock Band a week before we moved and its pretty much all we've been playing.

The game is as great as I hoped it would be if not greater. I'm very glad I didn't shell out the extra cash for the limited edition bundle as I picked up the limited edition instruments at a Best Buy a few days ago and while they look cool as hell they're still plastic instruments and I don't care what they look like... I'm not spending $250 for more plastic instruments.

B:RB is by far the best of the franchise mostly because you care about all the band members and probably already know all the music.

I also got Gears 2 last night on the uber cheap so I imagine I'll be tearing through that for the next couple of days/weeks. If you still have Gears 2 and want to hook up for some Co-Op please let me know. I hate buying games late and totally missing out on the multiplayer.

Sorry I don't have anything profound or hilarious to say today... my writing muscles have atrophied slightly during the move. As soon as I stretch em out a little things will be back to normal.

Hope everyone is doing well. Drop me a not on what's been going on in your world... I've missed everyone.

Take care and happy gaming.
