Hardware Review

SanDisk Sansa e270

I compared and shopped around for an MP3 player for a long time. It came down to two. The Sansa series by Sandisk or the Zen Microphoto by Creative. After reading many reviews about how awkward the Zen's controls were I decided to go for the Sansa and I know I made the right choice! It's light, sleek has a lot of features and is easy to use. The battery life is amazing, and the software is so simple anyone can use it! You don't even need the program really if only to convert pictures to bitmaps and then load them on your player! As far as loading Mp3s it's as simple as transferring the folder your music is in to your player via USB. It's lightning fast too, I transferred a library of 1400 songs in mere minutes! The music quality is flawless, the large screen makes it so you can play respectably sized video clips and photos in sharp color, and the FM tuner is adequate enough, it even includes a World channel frequency, for the interested.

The only downside I suppose would be the actualk organization of the music. It goes by ID3 tags so your library better be up to date with it. It shouldn't be too large a task anyhow a simple prog like Dr.Tag or so can help you organize your music. To make things even simpler you can just upload an already established playlist you like to run. Once your music is organized though the player has lots of features for playing your music like choosing from title, artist, album, genre, etc etc. It has other features like Loop All, Loop Song, Shuffle. You can create a personal playlist on the fly as you go too if you have specific songs you want to play. It's great once everything is tagged right.

Another slight downside; the glossy face of the player is very susceptible to scratches! To remedy this it's a good idea to buy one of the casings. There are many attractive ones and I just bought the Action Jacket by DLO that comes with a clip and armband, it really doesn't detract too much from your player's beauty and it doesn't interfere with function either.

Overall this player is a real winner and now the only thing I am waiting for is for the Micro SD cards to expand in capacity so I can add even more memory to the player as my music collection expands in the future, otherwise I have no need for any other player. Move over iPod!!
