More Shooting... We need more shooting.
The difference between games today and 2 game generations ago is that there are more Western developers. I personally think it's a bad thing because of the fact that American devs only think about two things. The first would be the FPS or Third PS, or an aspect of FPS (i.e. fallout 3, oblivion). Why do you think that there have been so many in the past 8 years? Second would be the unnecessary blood and guts. Don't get me wrong I don't mind blood and guts but it's not always needed. So now we have nothing but shooters and blood flooding the market. I enjoy and respect the Japanese devs. Their games were much more original, and had/have a deep story to go with them.
A game loved by so many and hated by so many
Well I'm talking about Final Fantasy VII. I've never understood why so many people hate the game. I remember playing it when it first dropped. Then I had sold it and had gone into a mild depression. Then I got it back and play it at least once a year.
My only thought of people hating the game is because so many people do love it. Those of us who love the game so much express it so much that the reaction is hate. I will say there are a lot of people who've jumped on the bandwagon, but that's fine to me only because they get to experience, as long as they actually play the game and not go off of what they see in Kingdom Hearts or something.
I don't know maybe I'm just talking out of my ass again. Anyway Final Fantasy is my 2nd favorite game. Super Mario Bros. 3 is first and Ninja Turtles (the first game before the arcade version) comes in third.
My Favorite Game Soundtracks
In response to this I've come up with my top 5 most memorable.
5. streets of rage II
4. sonic II
3. halo 2
2. street fighter (ryu's stage)
1. Final Fantasy VII
Unknown Releases dropped on Unknown Release Dates with Unknown Reviews.
Remember when you were younger and you would go to the store and see a game that you never heard of but the box art looked so cool that you had to have it. I remember those days. I didn't know what I wanted. Gaming sites and mags didn't exist back then so you didn't know when something was coming out until it came out. Even then you didn't know what was coming out before hand. Those were the days. I say that because people rush out to buy a game immediately because they've heard about it's release date for years (although it kept getting pushed back). The previews are so frequent that you know the story before even entering your first save point.
My point? Well my point is that gaming was so much better before reviews, previews, and game news. If you liked a game, you liked it even with the flaws that it came with. Now we have IGN and gamespot (lower case for a reason) telling us what they think of it. This influences us so much that we just don't care how good/bad the game actually may be. I've fallen to this low point in my gaming life too. At the same time it's necessary because some of these companies/developers are putting out complete and utter crap.
So I guess I'm trying to say that I miss the old days before money ruled games and I could find the unknown release dropped on the unknown release date without reading that unknown review.
Whatever Happened to...
Cell shaded games? They were the "Wave of the Future" at one point. Now there as rare as RPGs. It's all good I guess I would just like to see more of a variaty in games. For me everything is either built on the U3 engine or 2d ( I play a lot of 2d fighters). Imagine a full on action game (think GOW) in cell shading. That would be so awesome. Well that's my post for the month of August. Now back to Blaze Blue.
