(Ah, here I am in the safety of my own little blog space)
This show is changing. Of course everything changes in time. It's been a long road for the Winchester family. My name, luvjds, although sounds fangirlish, I suppose. I chose it because I loved the scenes when the 3 Winchester men were together. They were a great team. The actors played amazingly off each other and the characters although there were obvious struggles between Sam and John, they were strong together. Sam and John managed to reach some sort of understanding and poor Dean....well, Dean felt complete when they were all together.
Anyway, the evolution of the show from season 1 to 2 became dark, more intense. I loved it and I loved the dynamic and devotion the brothers had to one another. Season 3, although had a good story frame, had a few Supernatural-lite moments...whatever. It wasn't the best season, but still better than a lot on TV.
I am a sucker for loyalty and teamwork. I love the brothers for their sacrifices and their love for one another. Season 4 is also digging deeper into complicated issues. I'm really looking forward to this season's story and reveals. I've enjoyed the first 2 eps so far. Just a couple complaints like how the hell could Dean have "almost forgotten" his baby (and how would Jensen have agreed to say that line?!) and Ruby seems a little drippy, but she was better in the second ep. I loved that Sam put an ipod in the Impala - that one was impossible not to see coming. I also like Castiel and I wonder how much he knows about Sam. I think we'll find out tomorrow. One of the things I really enjoyed about last week's show was the intensity of the fight scenes and the longer length of the battles with the spirits. That was definitely old school Supernatural! I had that OMG feeling while watching the confrontations with the spirits. I haven't had that in a while. No let down, like with the 7 Deadly Sins. Well done!
I heard Pamela will be coming back at some point too. Looking forward to it, but where's Missouri? Wouldn't it be great to see her work with Pamela? (would she tell Pam to watch her tongue?! :P )
As for the show's evolution, I do feel bad because I think the boys will not be fighting side by side this year in the quintessential Winchester way on the road. Their separation will be necessary in order to move the story along, I understand, and that also means they might become reluctant adversaries too. I will definitely miss "my team" since the "j" portion of my "jds" team is long gone.(sniff)
I sense that Kripke is going to demonstrate his evil ruthlessness and hurt the boys, even kill off at the end of the series. I know it's corny to have a sunshine and roses finale, but with so much real crap, death, bullsh*t in our real world, couldn't our fictional boys just catch a break for once in their sad, short lives and make it at the end? It will be a sad enough day when the series does end.
Anyway, as I said, things change, people change and drift apart on their own journeys and quests. All I know is that I will miss the boys when it ends (hoping not to have to mourn them as well) and really hope the series goes for the 5th season. I'm not ready for it to end at 4.
