When I first found out there was a new Click Five album out, I was so excited. I was a huge fan of Greetings From Imrie House. They had incredibly catchy power-pop songs.
On my first listen of this new album, I was absolutely stunned. What had happened to one of my favourite bands? The singer didn't even sound like the guy in the first album (yeah, I later found out that he was a different guy) and there was some strange kind of electro-dance infused into the music. There was no catchy hooks, or anything else that first got me hooked on the Click Five. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent album, with some good songs on it, but it sounds nothing like the Click Five I know and love.
Put simply, it feels they're trying too hard, and trying to look like they're not trying at all. Seriously, don't try to fix what isn't broken.
EDIT: I tried listening to this again, a few months later. Unfortunately, it sounds worse. I still miss the old Click Five.

I loved Greetings From Imrie House. It was so catchy, upbeat, and a little bit retro. Now, they've gotten themselves a new singer, moved in a different direction with Modern Minds, and for me it's ruined it. Yes, Modern Minds is a decent album, and if you'd never heard Greetings, you'd think it was pretty good. But for me, the new singer and new sound ruined The Click Five. The songs don't have those hooks and beats that make you sing along anymore. I miss the old Click Five.
