What? This Cannot Be! Could it Be?

So far, beaten two games this month: Pariah (never play this shooter, take noteof that) and Mass Effect (though short, worth the replay value). Next stop, Doom 3? Maybe Arkham Asylum?

Last night I finally passed through the beginning part of the PS1 version of Metal Gear Solid. Very overwhelmed by things on King's Field (PS) (the predecessor to Demon's Souls), tough but worth it. Still stuck on RPG Making in RPG Maker.

Last but not least, is it true? The ModNation Racers Beta is tomorrow? The same day when Avatar hits theaters?! Anyone else gonna try out the Beta (if you have access to it that is)? Anyone gonna watch Avatar this week (or later)?

Too many questions. Not worth answering I guess

That's all for today, See Ya [at ModNation]!

Shanker and Aaron: Voice-Acting Stars

Have you ever heard wooden voice acting in a game and thought you could do better? Me too. That's why when 2K Sports offered me the chance to record crowd chatter for next year'sMLB 2K10, I jumped on the opportunity like C.C. Sabathia pouncing on the last hot dog at Yankee Stadium. I decided to invite Shanker Srinivasan, along for the trip because...well, I needed a ride from the ferry terminal to 2K's offices inNovato,California.

Read about, watch, and listen to the whole adventure here:

Best Xbox Point Deal Ever!

So... I've posted some good point values before, but this is the first time I've posted it for FREE!

You've got some hoops to jump through and you do have to spend a shred of money but you can usually recoup that on another deal else where (some used game store perhaps)

Follow this link:

http://coupons.target.com/mcp/pd.cfm?encp=bw3Edh8NsU3vzmfu%2BCqxk1gE5kAdfbx6dC45DH8m6FuvNQDwYVl3xOH31DkRj79yzb%2BSNmiA403U%0D%0Ak0Vud5AkAA%3D%3D#

to get to Target's special coupon section.

There is a coupon that says "Free Xbox 1600 Point Card with Purchase of Xbox Hardware"

if you go to print the coupon the site will ask you to install the "target coupon printing" program. They do this so you can't print the file to .pdf and it'll route straight to your printer. Kinda sucks but I've noticed no affects from it.

Print off as many as you like.

Go to Target and head straight to the bargain software section. Buy the cheapest xbox 360 games you can buy (I've seen as low as 4.98 but on average its 12.98, I got ghost busters for 14.98 and i've been told someone found rock band 2 for 12.9.

Get the WHITE 1600 point card. Go to check out and have them ring up the game and the coupon and the point card.

You will get the point card for free!

Part 2, Game Stop has a deal right now where if you trade in 4 xbox 360 games (that have a default trade value of $2) you get a $20 trade in value. Also I have a coupon to get 30% bonus on 2 games traded in (if you need it PM me). If you have an Edge card you will also get an extra 10% on your trade in (but you already know that).

Good luck and happy bargain hunting!

Brooke's Dream Job

I promised a post today, but it's still in the works, so I thought I'd share this from Living with the Light's.

Brooke got a sort of promotion today (on top of being named the employee of the month for November), she'll be stepping up to take on some management responsibilities, which is great, she certainly deserves it. Her job is great, stressful at times, but the company is amazing. Unfortunately, it's not her dream job. Oh no, that job, she revealed to me tonight. Amazing.

Finished Assassin's Creed II - 30,000 GamerScore

Despite a very annoying power outage about 2 minutes before the ending, I finally finished Assassin's Creed II last night. The in-game clock put my time in at around 22 hours, and one of the chapter-ending achievements finally pushed my gamerscore over the 30,000 mark. I really liked the first one, but this game is easily one of my favorite of this console generation. It's the first game I've played enough to warrant installing to my 360 hard drive.

I only have two minor complaints. First, a few niggling control issues never really cause too much trouble, except in hectic race-against-the-clock scenarios where Ezio jumps in a completely different direction than the one you intended. I'm also in the vast minority of people who prefer the pacing of the original game. My favorite aspect of Assassin's Creed is the DaVinci Code-esque conspiracy. I wish there would have been more time spent outside of the Animus and more emphasis put on the background information provided in each of the glyphs. (For those who are interested, GameFAQs user IrvineTomoe has posted an excellent analysis of what each glyph means.)

Also, as a little teaser for anyone still working through the narrative, the ending has one of the funniest lines I've heard from a video game in a long time. On the Giant Bombcast, Jeff Gerstmann said something about the ending revealing a huge hint as to where the next Assassin's Creed would take place. If anyone knows what that hint is, please PM me because I must have missed it.

I still have a few minor achievements to nab, but I can't wait for the recently announced DLC packs. In the meantime, I'm working on reviews for the new Scene It? games, so look out for those if you're interested.

To Sum Up A War In A Week and Those Wish To Find Me And A Tale Ff Mass Effect

Well I thought that I would write a small blog tell you all what I have been doing, I have been playing alot of Dragon Age and Modern Warfare 2 for the PC.

I just finished modern warfare 2 for the second time, completed it on the hardest setting, not as hard as I thought it would be, I actually found it more thrilling to play on that setting then normal that I used for my first play threw. I don't know I thought it would be hard but it made it hard enough that it made Call Of Duty feel more fun to play and pride for every level I could get threw. Modern Warfare 2 was sum rush, and wow, shockers around every turn, I feel for the poor space man, (you will know when you come to it) lol. I kept running into a crash after a boat scene but found with the internet that if you set textures to auto, you can continue the game, it was drivin me crazy, I couldn't finish the game would crash for some reason lol. so lucky I was able to would have drove me nuts haha. I'm happy with the 40 steam trophies thatI have, I think 40/50 rewards is good enough

So I'm slowly making my way thew all my games sigh...a big list it is, thought I would reinstall Mass Effect and start playing only to launch the game and to my Horror DRM struck me, with my upgrade to Windows 7, it informed me painfuly that I had reached my max activations....didn't like that......so had to wait like a good little gamer for a EA tech rep to give me more activations, I got (1) but hey at least I can play the game now.......looking forward to finishing the game then wellI start playing Fallout 3 (who knows how long that will take, but not before I try to finish Bioshock lol (ya i know) i got far then gave up but I really want to finish these games before new ones come out )

Contacting me: For thse that care to contact me, you have to ways, Steam, Mar044 same as well gamepot, add me if you wish and I will be happy to talk to you if im on also find me in the long running Gamespot game night club on steam. The most legendary Nintendo title of all time on VC today
Super Mario RPG comes to the Virtual Console, this game taught me to read as a kid and I have finished the game a total of 8 times on the SNES. I am looking forward to playing through it again, I'm very excited.

Wii Purchase = Mistake

So a few of you know, a couple months ago I gave in and bought a Nintendo Wii. Along with it I purchased Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Both great games in their own right, with Galaxy being an absolute superb platformer. Along with those games there are a handful of other good games out for the Wii; some of which I still intend to purchase. But unlike the Xbox 360 and even the PS3, I had took a keen notice that the Wii really had nothing exciting waiting for it in the near future. I was hoping that would change today at E3 with the Nintendo Press Conference. After the press conference I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, with the lack of ANY exciting news coming from the conference.

As stated before, the Wii has some great titles out for it. But a dozen or so good games can't make a console great. The reason the 360 is doing so well is because they have a library of great games combined with a lot of things to look forward to. But it seems like Nintendo has run into a brick wall, just as they did with the Gamecube. I was hoping the most for a new Zelda game, but was offered nothing even close. Instead the Wii seems to want to sit upon their throne that sits on a huge landfill of garbage third party titles, and the worst part about it, is they sit there with an ignorant oblivious smile on their face, pointing constantly to numbers and sales and having nothing to say about quality.

After todays conference I really regreted making my spur of the moment purchase of the Wii, and would have much rather put that towards a PS3, or something else that has a legitimate future. While Nintendo always seems to do great coming out of the gate, they always seem to finish with no style. Does this mean that the Wii isn't coming out with anything in the next couple years? No. But I'm afraid this year looks horrible for the Wii. Hopefully they have learned something this time around, and next year at E3 we can have some good surprises.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Off the subject here... I still haven't recieved any messages regarding my last blog. I'm still looking for some help with a makeover for my page, so if you think you can help me, or know someone who might let me know.

Live from San Francisco

Greetings from the West Coast! We came out here with 10 days to find a place (in advance of our move in late June). Who'd have thought we'd end up with a lovely apartment on Day 1. Happily, this means nine days of exploring the city and the region. We've been every where from Point Reyes and Napa to San Jose. An there are still three days remaining! Tomorrow we venture to the Rock. I've had my feet in the Pacific, we've driven down Lombard Street -- and have only scratched the surface. It'll be a good place to live for a year. It's only too bad I can't change my user name to something like Frisco or SanFranCA.

Everybody's Doing It

I thought I would wait, before telling people, to see if I would actually keep updating it... and so far I've found I have a lot to say.

Like all my dear former GameSpot friends, I have started posting on a blog elsewhere. It's not for lack of love for this site, it's just because I'm interested in beginning new memories.

I will always be reading, and I will pop in from time to time (as I have here), but I hope to frequently update my blog there, if you are so inclined to read it:

Doubt The Stars

So far it's been about things related to video games, of course, it's about some things that are personal, and it's about working in game development, above all.

Ahead of the Curve

With the last of the Time Trotters riding off to the welcoming sunset of unemployment, I'm doing my best to stay ahead of the trend. On Monday I'll be starting up at my new gig, months of Call of Duty-filled joblessness finally coming to a close.

And while I will always remember the fall of 2007 as an enjoyable old mess of new video games, Boston life, and a roller coaster of job hunting, 2008 is looking to be pretty sweet.

Where will I be working, you ask? As a quick attempt at cross-site promotion, I encourage everybody to visit my internet blournal, DoofyCrap.com. Tomorrow I'll write about my rad new place of business over there. A quick hint: it perfectly combines so many of my interests it's scary. Not too many suspects to pick from, I bet some of you can figure it out in a hurry.

Best of luck to Ryan, and see you all at Doofy HQ!

- Rich

PS: If somebody at GameSpot Live wouldn't mind publishing the ol' Time Trotters to the site, I would greatly appreciate it. Too much of too many people's hard work in that baby to see it hidden away forever! I'm not asking for fanfare or anything, just put it up all sly-like to the Shaolin Style gamespace. My extended family (and of course the GameSpot faithful) would love to see it, thanks!
