Let the song write itself.
I've always been a big advocate of allowing a song to write itself. As you start to form a song, whether it's from a drum beat or a lyric, have the patience to let the song write itself.

I think this band has got a lot of potential but maybe hasn't reached their full potential yet. Definitely a cool sound though.

Not to sound like a music critic, but I kept waiting for the big chorus to open up the song and I never got it. I do think that if you like Taylor Hicks, you will love this song.
