GameSpot will survive because of the integrity of its staff

Like many people I've awoken from Blog hibernation -- it's all been said better elsewhere, but after listening to the HotSpot and watching On the Spot, I wanted to weigh in. I worked at GameSpot for almost 5 years, and I can say with complete certainty that the editors at GameSpot are incredibly hardworking and honest and would never allow outside pressure to color their judgement. That's not to say that outside pressure doesn't exist -- it certainly does, and as the industry grows that pressure becomes ever more intense. But I know that the remaining editors would all walk if they truly were pressured into altering the way that they have covered games for 11+ years.

That's Cheese

I'm really looking forward to the Borat movie. Here's a deleted scene.

When I first saw her videos while visiting Europe I dismissed her as a flavor-of-the-month pop star whose 15 minutes would flame out rather quickly. However, after listening to her album and seeing the videos on MP3.com, I actually think she has some talent.

When Kanye West had a car crash and almost died, he hired a painter to portray the visions he had while he was near death and paint it on a giant canvas. Well, you see, my father-in-law owns an art supply store in North Hollywood and they specialize in making canvases, so he made the canvas for Kanye's infamous painting. The other part of the story is that my father-in-law got to attend the unveiling and coordinated the hanging of the painting, and he met all kinds of famous rappers and celebrities. This is funny because he's 83 and has no idea who any of them were.

For this, I say Kanye "Keeps it Real."

I went to band camp with Jon B and he was in my cabin (no joke!). He was very talented at a young age and even though his only instrument in an official capacity at band camp was the trumpet, he nonetheless lugged a full PA and multiple keyboards to the camp so he could play for his friends and practice. Pretty cool for a 12 year-old. Although I don't like his music at all, he gets 3.5 stars for lugging lots of keyboards around as a young lad.

You gotta love an album that samples plastic surgery.

This album succeeds because it makes ambient music sound thick.
