I bought this CD after having read that Cake is one of Gillian Anderson’s favorite groups on a fashion magazine... in the waiting-room of my dentist’s study! Life Is Strange, sang Marc Bolan back in 1973: some are good and some are bad... Well, this Cake is certainly good, oh very good, and eclectic, enjoyable, witty and definitively irresistible.

An electrifying blend of Smashing Pumpkins, New York Dolls, Stooges, Cheap Trick, Sex Pistols, Twisted Sister, Aerosmith, Velvet Underground... sadly and undeservedly overlooked, since Tyson Todd Meade is an original & witty performer and his band rocks the place like no other in this unfair planet. “La Dolce Vita is her favorite movie, and now she’s got no clothes...”

Timeless pandemonium. I will love it til the day I die. I saw The Stooges here in Turin last summer and it was a sort of generational coronation. Now I can grow old in peace... or maybe I'll go crazy once for all, singing 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' at the top of my voice from my balcony!

Some rock critics state that the commercial sell-out of the Psychedelic Furs begins from here: I don’t think so. For me, this album was the result of a group looking to expand its sound, with stunning result as the title-track, 'Sleep Comes Down', 'Run & Run' and, of course, 'Love My Way.'

Summer of 1999, Suances, North of Spain. I was on the Cantabric Sea all day and on Coca Cola & Negrita all of the night... lots of chicas bonitas and good times... and this magnificent release was my soundtrack: I am a tree, I show my age when I don't cry. According to my opinion, Robert Pollard's meisterwerk.
