GameSpot 2009
With this year coming to an end, here are a few highlights of my time on GameSpot:

Closure of Super Sayians United: Although it may feel that SSU closed last year, it officially closed this year on 16th February. I will admit I have missed it, and at times even considered asking dbz345 to re-open it again, just to experience it again. It was the only union I was a member of eversince it began. I've seen its growth and its decline; its beginning and its end. I was promoted as an Officer of the union too in its early days, and gave dbz345 lots of advice and help with running the union. I was proud of the union, and closing it was for the best... it didn't deserve to decay anymore.

What I miss most however is the co-operation with dbz345 (a good e-friend of mine that I've known nearly eversince I first started using GS). He was truly exceptional, with his balanced approach towards governing the union. He cared much for it, and did his very best to try and combat the inevitable decline of the union. If I was to ever start a union again, you can definitely count him as one of my Officers.

Ranger Recognition: While I have been a Greeter for well over a year now, just months ago that position was officially recognised by GameSpot, and was therefore known as Ranger. As the iconical Ranger emblem says, Rangers are not Moderators, but helpers of GameSpot, that have been selected for their expertise knowledge and expericence on an area. Each Ranger is designated to a board to assist their fellow GS users on. I am a Ranger of How to GameSpot, along with carstairs, siberian142 and robbristow.

I have very much enjoyed fulfilling the role of a Ranger, and co-operating with the other Rangers and Moderators of HtG. It has allowed me to also make new e-friends on GS, and more interaction with other GS users, particularly Caddy06_88 and chicknfeet. I will happily continue with the role, and hope the HtG team feel the same way as I do.

That's all I have to say for this year unfortunately. I haven't gamed much, and the games I have played, have been good, but not quite what I was expecting, and so, I would say it's been a disappointing year for gaming (at least for me). I hope that's not the same for everyone else.

I have however had a relaxing and well deserved break, and I am ready to enter the New Year, with an optimal outlook. I hope everyone on GS can say the same for that too, as remember: in games, there exists a 'Continue'; in life, there is no 'Continue'...

Christmas '09 Gifts and My Christmas Village *pics*

First off, Merry Belated Christmas I can't believe the holiday is already over as I type this. I really enjoyed it this year, Christmas Eve was the first time we stayed home, nice change of pace, had my parents' best friends over and my aunt and cousins so it was good.

Christmas Day was a blast as usual, went to my grandparents, my other cousins were there, and we continued our 5 year tradition of playing Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Party 4 Lots of laughs and crazy antics ensued as usual.

So, this is what I got aside from money and some clothes:

  • 64GB iPod Touch
  • Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus for PSP
  • Demon's Souls for PS3 (obviously opened this badboy up in October )
  • The complete series of Claymore on DVD * *
  • The second season of The Big Bang Theory
  • 1/100 scale model of Kyrios Gundam from Gundam 00 (finally)
  • $100 iTunes gift card
  • 2010 calendar (as usual lol, not that I'm complaining )

Mommy and Daddy did a good job this year

Oh and I got a little bottle of whiskey from my uncle that clears your sinus cavity in two seconds with one sip "Smooth" my ass -_-

--------------------------

Ok, now for the Christmas Village my grandfather and I put up every year. Note that he couldn't find the box with most of the trees so it looks unfinished, to me and the pics are not final, I will get better ones since the entire village lights up too, I hope you guys still like it as of now, again I'll get better pics soon

A White Christmas

So it's currently snowing in Texas (gasp!!) and not just in the panhandle where it's no surprise. It's literally been snowing nonstop today, and with temperatures not going above freezing, I get treated to a white Christmas!!

It's a rarity here, for sure. I'm sure anyone living up north is like "Meh. We get a white EVERYTHING." but you have to understand it's pretty amazing considering that yesterday, it is in the mid 70s and then it drops down to below freezing overnight. That's quite an achievement even for bipolar Texas weather. Ahh well.

Well, that's it for now... here's a pic of my car somewhat covered in snow, it may not be too impressive but the 50+ MPH wind gusts today haven't allowed much to accumulate on my car. The ground is a different story. Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone!!

New Games: Ballad of **** Tony & Wallace and Gromit #2

Been spending my Microsoft spacebucks lately. I bought The Ballad of Gay Tony for GTA IV when it came out and have completed it since. It's pretty good. I love the new cars, the crazy dancing and the new missions. If you liked The Lost and Damned, you'll probably like this as well. The achievements are a bit more painful this time though, I think I'll struggle to get 100% in every mission, but since it adds replayability I won't complain.

I also bought the second episode of Wallace & Gromit Episodes today. Didn't have points for the third and fourth episodes, but I will eventually. I usually don't play these kinds of point and click games, but I find Wallace and Gromit to be extremely charming. Cheese!

Hey! It's That Guy That Disappeared Into Thin Air!

Good day my fellow ancients! Let me be the first to tell you that, If you are on my friends list and by some chance read this, you have been here much longer than I could have ever fathomed. If any of you long lost friends are intrested in getting back in touch with me, feel free to e-mail me at: blfortier@gmail.com.

This blog post could also be treated as my official good bye message i assume. I sent out a few messages so I may pop in a little throughout the week to see if I receive any replies, but other than that this should be the last you see of me. I don't go by the name "Sosola" any more though (took me a while but I got rid of that gay name). I am generally known as "Clowd118" or just "Clowd."

By the way, anybody seen that zinedinezidane kid around recently?

GOOD BYE ALL!

Read 2 Million Posts

I've now read 2 Million Posts on Gamespot. The exsact number is 2020303. A hell of a lot, considering I've only posts 10300 something. Ive also realised that By This August I would of been here for 6 Years. Thats nearly as long as Secondary Education. Time flys when your having fun right?

Chelsea Qualified for the Chamions League Semi Finals, fantastic 4.4 Draw at Stamford Bridge saw us through (we won the first leg 3.1) , to now Play Barcelona. Should be a fantastic game.

Also, Wrestling Wise, my favourite guy, Mr Kennedy should soon be back after being drafted to raw. Can't wait for that.

Still havn't rung microsoft about the xbox 360. Been playing a lot of poker atm, is filling my time up, so am not missing the console that much.

Da******n

i can't write seriously here because all the stupid rules, "no-free-to-speech rules" (I have for example get "level 26" 7-8 times but always have I been banned temporaly for days and lost points for no reasons.

Anyway, what can I write here, and why do I write here, whats the point? I write to myself like a da*n diary. The clock here I live is 07.13 in morning and I've been up all night & yesterday - Why didn't I slept tonight? Because 2 reasons:

1) I have feeling "dumb" and still does- I never feel "dumb" - NEVER in my life, whatever I do, I just give a cr..p. But yesterday evening I f******d up everything pretty good, and for the first time in my life I feel dumb. I can't write much about it here but it's about a girl I REALLY LIKE, she is an angel, but I shocked her pretty good (I think) ysterday because I was so st*on*ed. Sh****T! I am still st*on*ed like hell, and everyone sleeping right now except me, I have nothing to do and I am afraid that she will leave me now & and if she does everything will be f****d up! Time to take some candy Bye peace out

2) Don't remember

Need Help finding a good Multiplayer! (PS2)

Hey everyone, I was just hoping if any of you could help me out here. I have a lot of good single player games but I was wondering what games are really good multiplayers. They don't necessarily have to have a good single player campaign just so long as multiplayer is good. This is excluding sports games. So any ideas? Any good multiplayers?? Thanks

Summer Update 2

Just a quick update of what's been going on since the last time I wrote. What's been going on you ask? Games, I say! (also work) I've been playing alot of quality titles this summer so heres a short summary of what I've been playing on what console:

Xbox360- Forza Motorsport 2 has made me the most addicted I have ever been to a racing game. Ever. I skipped the first entry into the series because I decided that I was going to try to just stick with the PGR series, but once I read the review and watched a bunch of gameplay videos, I knew I had to give it a chance. I've put a good amount of hours into this game - currently around level 34. I didn't think I was ever going to slow down on the game until The Darkness came out.

I picked up The Darkness the day it came out and I can honestly say it is easily my favourite game to come out this year thus far. I beat the singeplayer 3 times the first week I had it, and I'm still not bored of it yet. It's a little on the short side, but I like it that way because it warrants multiple playthroughs. The multiplayer really has a lot of potentional but the only thing really holding it back in my opinion is lag issues. A definate must play, even if it's just a rental.

I was going to buy Rockstars Table Tennis when it came out but decided to wait until the price dropped a bit - and drop it did. When I picked up The Darkness, my local EB had new copies of Table Tennis going for $20 CDN (They say it's been discontinued). This is the game I am currently playing on my Xbox 360, and I really enjoy it. The mechanics are simple, yet strangely addictive. The characters are probably one of my favourite aspects of the game. My girlfriend will probably go crazy if she has to hear me same the name "Liu Ping" one more time and I don't know what it is about Jesper, but something about him makes me want to cause him serious bodily harm.

Wii- My Wii has kind of been collecting dust lately (yes, I'm talking about the console). I haven't played Super Paper Mario at all since the first week I bought it. Besides a couple Wii Sports sessions with the GF, I haven't touched the system at all.

Nintendo DS- After crushing Pokemon Diamond, I continued back on the trail of getting through Custom Robo. I got even closer to the climax before I picked upPuzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Now, I'm not usually one for these types of puzzle games but I have fallen into some kind of addiction for this game. I'm going to blame it on the RPG elements because I don't really have any other excuses. My girlfriend on the other hand, really enjoys the "match 3" type puzzle games, so quite naturually she has been putting in tons of hours into this title also. I'm at about level 40, so I think I'm getting pretty close to finishing up the main quest, then I can finally get back to Custom Robo.

PS2- lol

Can Any Shooter Stand Up To Halo 3?

Can Any Shooter Stand Up To Halo 3?

With other high profile games on the way like Haze, Killzone 2, The Darkness, and Crysis, does anyone believe that any of these games can compete with the 10005080 tone freight train that is Halo 3?

Although some of these games promise to be excellent and look like they will deliver, does the hype of Halo 3 alone outweigh any chance that they have to be successful, because we all know that Halo 3 would sell even if Bungie just shoved some dog crap in the box and told you to throw it at your parents.

Personally I dont think that any game, regardless of its pedagree or its outcome, can or will stand up to Halo 3, thats not to say that Halo 3 will be a better game than any of these other games, that is simply based on the ridiclious ammounts of Hype and fan love that surround this series.

What do you think?
