KATE HUDSON'S AMAZING MUSICAL DEBUT!

____________________________________________________________________________
She's hot, she can act and as we've just discovered... she can sing!
Rom-com queen, Kate Hudson has made her musical debut with Ron Fair's remix of 'Cinema Italiano' for her latest film, NINE.
The video clip for the song, which was written exclusively for the film, shows a sexy glittery Kate seductively showing off her dancing and singing talents.
NINE is the vibrant and provocative new musical from director Rob Marshall (Chicago) based on the seven-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name. It has an all-star cast more dazzling than the array of sequined costumes featured in the film.
This musical extravaganza follows the life of Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), a world-famous film director, as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing relationships with the numerous women in his life. The women include his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penélope Cruz), his film-star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), a young American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth ("Fergie") and his mother (Sophia Loren).

All i can say is WOW! - She can act, dance, sing and she is HOT, She's got it all!!
What do you think?
The Prisoner remake begins this weekend on AMC. The buzz is that Ian MacKellan is absolutely brilliant. When isn't he
. You can view the preview PrIsOnEr. I loved the original cult cla$$ic from the 60's with Patrick McGoohan so I hope they live up to the high expectations. There are so many remakes on both the big and small screens it's mind boggling. Another series in the works is Alien Nation set to come out in 2010 on SyFy. I think with the success of V that there will be more shows revisited.

For the big screen there are so many reworkings of successful films that one wonders where all the originality went to.
The A-Team is arriving with Liam Neeson as Hannibal and Bradley Cooper as Templeton (remember him as Will Tippin from Alias). I'm looking forward to Clash of the Titans, I loved the 1981 original and the trailer for the remake is amazing. TITANS Liam Neeson is in this one too he plays Zeus. Also remakes of Poltergeist, Dune, Tron, Nightmare on Elm Street, Robocop even Short Circuit ... whooa flashback to the 80's or what. ![]()

On the series' front Eastwick has gone bye bye, nothing like vultures circling is there. House's mind has some interesting people in it!
So how do you feel about remakes vs originals? Do you have any that you would like to see redone? Or are you totally against them? I don't mind them as long as they are well done. Unfortunately there are some that should be left alone.

Hi Everyone, ![]()
I'm looking at my last blog and realizing that autumn has come and gone. It doesn't take much in Calgary to miss it. We've had three snowfalls already, temperatures are currently hovering around freezing and the forecast is for 2-4 inches of snow overnight. It's not that bad because I love snow.
On the sports front, the NHL's Flames are off to a good start (tied for fifth overall), our CFL football team is in first place in the West and my favorite team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, is 5-2 and ranked #23 in America this week.
To be honest, I can't think of anything to blog about. It's been a pretty quiet summer with a lot of routine things going on. Caroline and I did get out to Vancouver in September for three days to visit my mom, which was nice. My health hasn't been the greatest the last 2+ months. I have this persistent cough which turned into a chest infection awhile back. Antibiotics took care of that, but the persistent cough is, well, persistent. I've been resting and taking good care of myself: drinking lots of water, having naps and so forth.
When in Doubt 1, Blog About TV
One of the things I've been doing lately is watching lots of TV, especially NCAA and NFL football and some hockey. I also have editor duties coming up as the World Series starts on Wednesday and that's one of my guides.
Here's a list of the shows I've been watching this fall: Bones, Castle, Cold Case, CSI:NY, The Forgotten, Hank, Law & Order, Little Mosque on the Prairie, The Mentalist, The Middle and Numb3rs.
CSI:NY has a story behind it. I had only seen one episode of the show a few years back and didn't like it and I've never been partial to the other two. This summer, a station called Spike began airing the first four seasons at a rate of two per weekday. Somehow I got hooked and have now seen all of Seasons 1-4 and most of Season 5, which is currently airing. So, I'm waiting to catch up on Season 6. I have seen the season opener and was shocked at everything that had transpired. Anyway, not bad for three months.

One of the most relaxing things that I have been able to do is work on my guides here. I edit nine shows and five people now. By far the most involved guide is the NCAA March Madness one, which is comprised of 1,902 games (episodes). It has every game played from 1978 (the first year the tournament was televised in its entirety) to the present, which entails a tremendous amount of detail. My friend Gabriella has been helping me out with the guide.
I also got my hands on the Stanley Cup Finals guide, which was in horrible shape. As a good Canadian, this simply had to be fixed! A lot is left to do, but at least I have every game in there from the television era (1953-present).
The World Series guide is done. Every game from 1947 (first telecast) to 2008 has complete information, including full play-by-play, box scores and starting lineups. There are also tidbits in there about MVP's, records and quotes where available. One of the neat things I've been doing is trying to track down the full 25 man rosters for each team for each year. All of the main sites only list the players that actually made it into a game, which can be as few as 13. I've been doing a lot of research reading through the Google News archives and emailing reporters in various cities that cover the teams. I even had a nice chat with the L.A. Dodgers historian! The guide only got done with of the help of Madison and Gabriella, whose help I am grateful for. ![]()
Now I know it takes a nerd to find all this relaxing, but I am one
and it's been a ton of fun. It's really neat when you can say that one of your guides has information that's nowhere else on the Internet! All this has landed me at Level 72 and close to 33,000 submissions. I've even managed to write a few reviews!
Country Story
The only other thing that's new is that I have been playing a game called Country Story on Facebook. It's a fun game and Caroline and I both play. Sometimes, she steals my crops.
When I tried to steal some back, her dog bit me!
I don't have a dog, but I do have a brown cow. ![]()

Quote of the Blog
It's from CSI:NY
Danny: Why do we do what we do, huh?
Flack: What do you mean?
Danny: Why do we wake up in the morning at three o'clock, stand at a crime scene in the freezing cold, living paycheck to paycheck, for what? To protect and serve? Serve who, the public? Sometimes it seems like they hate us, and then here we got the brass ready to throw us to the lions.
Flack: (shrugs) We do it cause we're good at it. Maybe we'd be lousy at anything else. I don't know. Maybe we do it for the one or two times somebody actually thanks us for finding their son's murderer.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Lisa, and to all the members of his family.
...And I hate the new tv.com.
So where are all the changes we were promised. We still have this hideously colored layout and I can only see four friend's blog updates at a time. I Miss the old days when we could quickly glance and see ten of our friend's updates, at a time.
Sad to say, I don't navigate as much here anymore. Too much effort I guess. Just wanted to let you all know that I miss you and hope you are all well.

Daylight savings finally hit. I love that it is already bright out at 7 am. The downside is that it is dark so much earlier.
I met up with gwactuary in Philadelphia yesterday. We attended a Flyers hockey game and then had dinner. I am happy to report this visit went much smoother than our original meeting for a Phillies game back in April. My car didn't conk out this time and we finally got to the restaurant we had originally planned to dine at last time. It was fabulous! I love the tiny little BYOBs that are scattered throughout the South Philly neighborhoods. I did notice that Broad and Market streets were spotless for a change. I don't get around the city as much anymore but the post Phillies parade clean up had left the city cleaner than usual.
While we were at the game there was still a lot of Phillies baseball frenzy...or should I say, Phrenzy? I am glad for my hometown that there was something positive to focus on. Recently our city was hit with a total of four police officers being killed in the line of duty. With the current election frenzy, watching the news is hardly cheerful. I'm glad we had a brief reprieve and the city was able to celebrate without any further violence.
I appreciated that gwactuary, who is a diehard baseball fan, chose a hockey game for our outing in Philly. It had been a couple years since I had been to a live game and I just loved it. I grew up in a hockey family so if you don't love the sport I think they ex-communicate or ban you from the fold~or something like that. ![]()
The Flyers dancing guy is always at the games but we were in for a treat this time. He danced with the Phillies Phanatic! While walking back to the car, I commented to gwactuary that I wondered how many uploads on YouTube there would be? I think he thought I was kidding. Here is the proof that only in Philly are we so proud of a giant, green mascot and an overweight drunk Flyers fan who loves to dance on the arena vision, that we will upload it for the entire world:
Overall, the outing was another step forward. I really feel like I am getting my life back to where it was before he-who-must-not-be-named. The ex hated hockey. He hated the city. He hated funny guys dancing with mascots. Now I can look back and say,"you know what? He hated me."
I am finally at peace with that.

Rich Rowland waits for the parade of the Yakima Valley Transportation Co.'s streetcars and locomotives to resume after stopping at Tieton Drive and Pine Street to turn around on Sunday. Rowland is a volunteer conductor for the trolley line, which celebrated its 100th anniversary with the parade.
One hundred years later, and the trolley wheels are still rolling along in the Yakima Valley.
Yakima Valley Trolley, formerly known as the Yakima Valley Transportation Co., celebrated a century of continuously running streetcars and locomotives through town Sunday. Families hopped on for a free ride and took a short trip down memory lane, even if it was just from the car barn on South Third Avenue and Pine Street to the end of the road on Eleventh Avenue.
"Whenever she sees the trolleys, she says 'Look nana, choo-choo!'" said Julie Harmia of her 4-year-old granddaughter, Theresa Duran, both of whom got on the first trolley ride of the day. "She's had a fascination of trains ever since she saw the Polar Express (movie)."
Yakima Valley Trolley motorman Scott Neel has had the same fascination since he was a boy. So much so that he has been a volunteer with the organization since 1984, just so he can wear a conductor's hat and keep the trolley rides going for kids of all ages.
"I grew up on the Sixth Avenue line seeing big locomotives every day -- one day they gave me a ride ... that kind of hooked me," he said. "The best part about this job is making kids and people smile."
Besides enjoying the view on a trolley -- or streetcar, as they are also called -- visitors gain a sense of history and pride because Yakima has managed to keep its streetcar system all these years. Author Kenneth Johnson, who wrote a book on the history of the Yakima Valley Transportation Co., classified it as the "last intact, early 20th century American, electric, interurban railroad."
"It's the only one still in its original condition: tracks, buildings, power system, locomotives and some of the streetcars," he said. "It's a real gem."
Those touring the facility can see for themselves the same stone and timber car barn and masonry substation that was built between 1910. The railroad itself was constructed between 1907 and 1913 and at one point ran about 44 miles of track heading out to locations like Selah, Wiley City, and Henrybro.
The trolleys still use the same overhead wires now that they did back then as well. But while the trolleys are just weekend amusement now, once it was an integral part of everyday life in Yakima.
"A lot of women didn't know how to drive back in those days, so they would just step on the street corner and caught the streetcar," said Yvonne Wilbur of the Yakima Valley Historical Society. "Some grandmothers would buy a ticket and put their grandkids on the trolley to ride all day ... it was like a baby-sitter."
Theresa Duran, 4, waves from a streetcar during a Sunday's parade of the Yakima Valley Transportation Co.'s streetcars and locomotives.
It was like that all across the country until the 1930s and '40s, when automobiles became more mainstream, Johnson said. And one by one, streetcar systems began disappearing.
"Nobody wanted streetcars anymore, automobiles were the flashy new thing now," Johnson said. "But in Yakima they were also still hauling freight until 1988, so that kept the system up and running. That's what set it apart."
Almost every piece of the Yakima Valley Trolley system is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. And there are plans to expand it further, to have the streetcars running back to Selah again.
The expansion would mean longer five-mile rides that would last about an hour. Although it will eventually mean more work for volunteers, they don't seem to mind.
For those like Neel, it's the real reason why he and others have been volunteering to keep the tracks running all these years.
"It's fun to maintain this system, but what good is it if you can't share it with the community?" he said.
* Rod Antone can be reached at 577-7628 or rantone@yakimaherald.com
* The Yakima Valley Trolley will make runs every Saturday, Sunday and holiday from May 26 through Labor Day. Trolleys leave the car barn at South Third Avenue and Pine Street hourly from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for children.
