So its been a while since I did a blog on here. Mostly because I've had nothing good to share or complain about.
The good- Tom Glavine won his 300th game earlier this week. As most of you know I am a huge Mets fan and was so very happy for Tom when he won. I am actually going to the game tonight against the rival Braves. They took the first game last night, so I hope the Mets will bounce back with a win. It will be hard though as John Smoltz is their starting picher and the Mets usually don't do good against him. Especially in the past few years. Also I'll be out on vacation next week. My wife and I are heading to Boston to sight-see and go somewhere new for a change. I was there when I was 8, so I don't really remember much, and my wife has never been there. It will be much needed rest for the both of us.
The bad- I had one of the worst mornings ever today. It was uterlly impossible to get into work. Normally I take the subway and its generally a 50-60 minute ride in to where I have to go. But, it was raining so bad that the track flooded and the MTA (NYC subway authority)would not let any trains pass between Brooklyn (where I live)and Manhatten (where I work). After waiting around for 15 minutes or so there was an announcement that there were certain trains allowed to enter the city, and it wasn't that bad as it was only a 3 block walk to that particular station. But that train only went 4 stops before it was taken out of service for flooding on that track. At this point I made it into the city, but far from where I needed to go. The options were to take a bus, a cab, or turn around and go home. Stupid me should have went home. But nooo. I waited for a bus with 200 other stranded New Yorkers for about 20 minutes before I gave up. Then I started to walk towards my job hoping to jump into a taxi cab. Yeah right. They were so packed that it wasn't even funny. So I decided to walk the whole way since I was about half way to work when I decided I wasn't getting into a bus or cab. 3 1/2 miles later I made it. Final count: 2 Trains ->1.5 hours No bus -> 20 minutes No taxi -> 20 minutes Walking 3.5 miles in 90 degree weather -> 45 minutes Getting into work 3 hours late and drenched in sweat -> Priceless And now the ugly- The other guy I work with who takes the afternoon shift had his house flooded as a result of the rain. As is such he could not make it into work today, so I'm stuck here 3 hours later than the time in which I would normally leave. But because of my horrendous morning and the game tonight I'm cutting out an hour early. I deserve it. So there was my day in a nutshell. I'm heading out to the stadium in a bit, and I'm going to consume mass quantities of beer as payback. Hope tomorrows better than today. At least it is one day closer to the weekend and my vacation to Boston. Don't forget to come by and drop a line or two at Further Instructions.
