Infected Mushroom continue their assault - U.S. Tour Dates and New Album

Israel-bred, LA-based psy-trance duo INFECTED MUSHROOM--Amit "Duvdev" Duvedevani and Erez Eisen--have been playing to increasingly massive, frenzied crowds around the globe (over 135 shows in 2007 alone), thanks to an explosive live show that's a far cry from the staid stereotype of dance acts hunched over their laptops and turntables. This year Infected Mushroom's big plans encompass numerous tour dates throughout the U.S. and major studio time working on their seventh album, due out this summer.

Infected Mushroom will kick off their 2008 tour dates March 13 in Austin, TX during SXSW. Joining Duvdev (vocals) and Erez (keyboards) are tour guitarist Tommy Cunningham and Brazilian drummer Rogerio Jardim. Here the industry will be able to check out a live performance of material from Infected Mushroom's upcoming album and experience first-hand why such major festivals as Coachella, Vegoose, Miami's Ultra Music Festival, San Diego Street Scene, L.A.'s Monster Massive, Virgin Festival in Baltimore, Camp Bisco and Sao Paulo's Tribe have highlighted them on their stages. Other markets Infected Mushroom is confirmed to perform in this year include Houston, Dallas, Boulder, Miami, Denver and Los Angeles.

2007 was a landmark year for one of electronica's biggest bands. Besides all the aforementioned festival dates plus a headlining slot for over 500,000 people (last New Years Eve in Rio De Janeiro, with the Black Eyed Peas and John Legend), they now rank #9 Overall and the #1 Psy-Trance Artist Worldwide on DJ Magazine's prestigious Top 100 DJ Poll. The band has moved to Los Angeles to get serious in the studio and began working on the follow-up to their album Vicious Delicious.

As told to Allan McGrath of DJ:

"In the last year we've come out of the psy-trance bracket, which is where we want to go," Duvdev explains. "We've been playing rock venues, which we're happy about as we never wanted to be categorized." 'We're happy that people come and see Infected Mushroom even if they aren't into psy-trance," adds Erez. "We're always looking to things we haven't tried before.' Fans of their classic psy-trance pulse need not be too concerned though. Already, two of the tracks laid down for their next LP are ferocious psy-trancers — with recent tracks 'Sayid' and 'Nine Percent' instigating a full-on reception in their recent live shows. 'There's another track called 'Black Shwarma' which blends cool lyrics with distorted heavy metal guitars,' adds Duvdev."

4 New Listening Parties (Dorfmeister, Nubreed, King Unique, Ultimae Records)

Alright my peeps, some new listening parties are up live on the Electronic/Dance music page! Woo-woot!! Unlike some of the sheety listening parties posted on the front door of the electronic page, the following are 4 brand new listening parties I am
not afraid to say, "Hey Beaver, check out this sooper dooper music!"
Definetly an array of styles to bite off on. Here we go:

Album: Grand Slam - Click to listen

Artist: Richard Dorfmeister

My comments: Dope!!
Mr. Dorfmeister never leaves us hanging in the wind. He is probably one
of the most consistent producers still bumpin phat grooves that hit
both the body and the head. Funkadelic Dorfmeister disco-house. A bit
dirty but always qulaity production.

Album:Fahrenheit Project Vol.6 - Click to listen

Artist:Ultimae Records

My comments:
Enter the realm of deep panoramic music...to pidgeon hole it into one
style would piss me off if I was producing that style of music (its
called Psy Chill...hehehe). Regardless of style, Ultimae Records is a
French based label that predominantly releases music of this Psy-Chill
style. Also known as psychedelic downtempo or psymbient. Fahrenheit
Project has been going strong for several years now. The album features
original tracks from various artist from the Ultimae label. As far as
chillout music goes, the Fahrenheit Project series has been a role
model to other psy-chill releases. Hence, its the one of the
best....possibly The best. Listen and enjoy!

Album:Electric 02 feat King Unique

Artist: King Unique

My comments:
This is one half of the Electric 02 mix compilation (disc 1 of 2).
Fresh off the EQ Recordings press table, both of these mixes are solid
dance mixes that touch on the minimal electro techno that is huge all
over the world now. If you think this mix rocks, check out disc 2 of
this double disc release. Nubreed brings it even harder!

Jimmy Van M - Listening Party

Balance Record Pool recently released Balance 10. To celebrate the big "1-Zero", Jimmy Van M is behind the decks on this 3-disc DJ mix. Balance 10: Jimmy Van M
is unlike most other DJ mixes I have ever seen released. Actually, it
was the first release I ran into this year with 3 discs. Each disc
communicating a different style of electronic music. Thus, each disc is
titled as follow:

disc 1: Downtempo
disc 2: Midtempo
disc 3: Uptempo (click here to listen)

Since discovering this release, I have run across two other 3-disc albums
which have also dropped this year. If you curious, here they are:

Viva: Steve Lawler
Renaissance 3D: Satoshi Tomiie

Why do I mention these albums? These 3 albums break the typical dance music
mold which we are all too familiar with (i.e. Global Underground) on
most DJ mix albums. Most of these releases are typically 2 disc sets
which force our favorite DJs to keep it within the dance-floor format.
Electronic music is more than just dance music with a 4 to the floor
beat.

Fortunately, MP3.com has 2 of these 3 albums available for listening (for free): Balance 10: Jimmy Van M
& Viva: Steve Lawler. Unfortunately, we were only able to post 1
disc per release....we selected the dance mixes instead of the latter.
If you like what you hear then you should definetely go to the store
and pick up the albums in their entirety.

Ambient & New Age-ish experimental electronica. Familiar sounds bring a nice comfort to his music. The awkward parts comes thru the non-syncopated beats, some basslines or bass notes, and percussion parts. They might be syncopated however they are slightly out of time with eachother. Not too worry tho, this is most likely what he is going for. In which case, I give much respect for doing something different. Overall, this experimental side is not my cup o java. hence the 3 stars.
