Politics '08

First of all thanks to everyone for your support in my previous post. I appreciate it.

What I want to do today is weigh in on the 2008 Presidential race.

Now I know most of you all aren't old enough to vote this election cycle, but many of you are. I'd like to hear your opinions regardless of age, though.

On to my opinion. Early in 2007 when candidates were just getting their campaigns going, my buddy told me about this one guy (and that already disqualifies Hillary ) and I decided to look into him, as well as some of the other candidates.

I'm pretty conservative in my views so naturally I registered as a Republican. And the Republican field was abundant with candidates. So I began the narrowing down.

Well the guy I support now is the same guy I got to know early last year. Through watching his speeches, researching his views, etc. I was very impressed with his leadership ability and optimistic outlook for Anerica.

The candidate I want for President is Mitt Romney. He spent 25 years of his life in the private sector as a very successful businessman, where he accumulated a lot of personal wealth. In 2002, he was chosen to run the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, which were plagued by scandals and financial problems. Mitt Romney turned those games around, which occurred only months after 9/11, and uplifted the spirits of Americans after its most devastating attack in its history.

Then there's Massachusetts. From 2003-2007 Romney served as governor of Massachusetts. Results are seemingly mixed, but he made some very notable accomplishments. In MA, he was able to work with a Democratic legislature to get everyone in the state health care, without the kind of socialized medicine Hillary Clinton. He also inherited a $3 billion deficit and turned it into a surplus within his term without raising taxes. Think about that: Romney solved two of the major issues in this national election as a governor of MA. As President he would offer states incentives to try out and come up with their own health care systems and not insititute "Hillarycare." He would also be able to cut out the waste and duplication in the federal government and balance the budget during his administration.

Another advantage: as a businessman, he has been in the economy, seeing how jobs are created and lost. He would offer unique insight into the economy and could prevent us from moving into a recession. He has proposed a broad economic stimulus plan (worth over $200 billion) that would, among other things, lower the income tax rate for those making roughly $95,000 a year and less to 7.5% from 10%, retroactive to 2007. He'd also eliminate payroll taxes on workers over age 65. And he'd eliminate taxes for those making $200,000 or less on capital gains, interest, etc. View his full stimulus plan at mittromney.com.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there. Let the debating begin!

Avatar Guide Retirement.

As you probably have noticed, I have been retired as Editor of the Avatar guide. This was not done with my consent, but rather by the TV.com staff.

The new editor will see the burden that is running the Avatar guide. I feel very fortunate to have held the position for so long.

That being said, maybe it is time for change. I've been sensing a new direction is being taken here for a little while now and I wish the next editor good luck.

I will state for the record that TV.com forced me out at their own discretion, and even though I respect their decision, I disagree with it. Forget the hours of time put into the guide and forum, a few submissions go a few days late and all of a sudden I am retired. It's unfortunate and I hope TV.com does not continue this policy, or they will lose some really great members.

As for me, I'll still lurk around here occasionally, but probably a lot less frequently than in times past. And I can offer suggestions to the new editor, if they would like it.

So, all in all it was fun and I'm glad I could meet all the awesome people here. Though I'm sorry this is the way it had to go down.

Enjoying Avatar Over At Dongbufeng.net,

Pooldude256 - Jake

[Insert Random Title Here]

Seems like forever since I've written a blog here on TV.com. Got so much stuff going on.

Right now I'm enjoying some time off. Not working right now, not going to school either. I will go back next year to a community college, most likely, and will look for another job soon after the new year begins.

Guess I should talk about Avatar. I have been hearing a lot of complaints about this season, and I believe those people are full of it. I think every episode has been great so far. IMO, "Nightmares and Daydreams" would be the weakest link in the chain so far, but it's still not that bad (well maybe it is...).

My personal favorites are "The Avatar and the Firelord" and "The Puppetmaster," not to mention the Day of Black Sun's two episodes. Those four episodes alone make up for anything that was "lacking" in the beginning of the season. "The Beach" was very different, "Sokka's Master" was great, and "The Painted Lady" gave Katara a new "identity." "The Headband" did a fair job of showing the propoganda in Fire Nation schools. "The Awakening" has been trampled on because it wasn't as epic as the season 2 finale, but it served it's purpose, as the bridge from S2 to S3. The Ozai scene may not have been as dramatic as it could have been (which is primarily the director's fault). Still it was a great episode. "The Runaway" had a little bit of character development, but not much, so that's near the bottom of the list. The above mentioned weakest-link was just plain scary and felt like an LSD trip the whole time. I didn't like it, and right before what are the most two important episodes, it seemed very much out of place.

Anyway, this season has been high on character development and not as much action, which I think is necessary going into the second half of the season. Even starting at 310-311, the second half of season 3 will most certainly have plenty of battles and epicness that has not been present so far, especially now that obviously the Gang has been exposed. I look forward to the last 10 episodes, from here on out the season picks up and I feel confident people will stop bashing it then.

I also want to address the writers strike, since this affects TV greatly. Like most Americans, I support the writers here. The studios are claiming that shows streamed online are for promotional purposes only, but when you watch an episode of a show online, there are ads. And they aren't giving those ads away free. The studios have enough that they can let the writers in on a little bit. The studios wouldn't have any revenue if not for the writers.

Today is my birthday. I turn 19. So what would be the most amazing present ever? Seeing my Steelers beat the undefeated Patriots, of course! Yes the game starts in like a half an hour, and I am looking forward to it, because the Steelers have a great shot at winning it today. So LET'S GO STEELERS!

That's it for this blog. I'm sure I'll write again in a few months.

Busy, busy, busy...

Seems like I'm a busy bee this time of year. Really haven't had the time to come here and write a new blog since Thursday, which was when my high school graduation was! Yes it feels incredibly awesome to finally be done!! The ceremony itself was pretty boring (and hot - we had it at the American Music Theater and supposedly there was AC on there but I don't really think so, that or it just didn't work right). And yes it was a formal ceremony so I had to dress up for once in my life, even though no one really saw what I was wearing underneath my gown. Oh well...yeah if you haven't got there yet look forward to speeches, awards and a VERY long waiting time when calling names for getting your diploma cover (that too - we got out diploma cover first then had to get our diplomas afterwards, which was total chaos). It does depend on how many others are in your graduating class though (299 total in mine - I want to know the idiot who dropped out and took it under 300).

Anyway yeah work is going good. Some people are still idiots whom I want to be able to freely kill, but for the most part it's not too terribly bad. I get a raise soon so that's awesome. I'm now working 30+ hours/week.

Between work and hanging out with friends and upcoming trips and all I really haven't really been on here much as of late. But whatever.

Now that you're caught up, feel free to move on with your lives.

Done with high school!!

As of about 9:30 this morning (after my english final concluded) I am officially done with high school!!  That's right, baby!!!  Seems like only yesterday I was starting my senior year, and I'm not sure if it's completely hit me yet.  Done with high school, man it feels good.  There is the small matter of graduation, which will take place next Thursday, June 7th (after 9 hours of graduation practice that Monday, Tuesday and Wed.).  But for all intensive purposes I am finished with public secondary schooling!

So where-to now?  Like I said before I'll be attending HACC in the fall and spending about a year or two there, then transferring to a four-year school to complete the rest of my credits.  I want to major in Business Admin, so that oughta be fun.

Other than that not much new.  Well I guess it's "officially" summer for me.  Awesome...

New Blog Time [I **** at titles for these things]

Well SENIOR YEAR IS ALMOST OVER THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry....just had to get that out of my system. Anyway yeah this is my last full week of public school education. Graduation is June 7th, which is a Thursday. Of course we'll have graduation practice all that week bright and early so it won't feel any different at all.

So in the fall I head off to HACC (Harrisburg Area Community College) and I'm not completely sure how long I'll stay there (a year or two probably). Then transfer, in all likelihood, to a 4-year institution. My buddies and I are thinking of getting an apartment together so that would be awesome if that actually happens.

On a different note, work is going well (I guess....). My friend (and supervisor) is quitting (next Sunday is his last day) so I will be taking his job, as evening supervisor. I'm actually looking forward to it, at least at this point. It involves a combination of inside and outside work, which is nice (especially during the summer, you'd rather be outside, well not when its 100 degress but you get the point). All in all things are shaping up well.

A group of friends and I are making a trip up to DC the weekend before the 4th of July and we're staying for 4 days, which will be awesome. We'll get to see a lot of stuff (though I've already been in the Capitol and Supreme Court building and all and I doubt we'll get to tour the White House). Anyone have any suggestions for what to do there? We've got 4 days to do stuff so we've gotta fill up that time with something.

So yeah that's all I got now. I should consider writing blogs more often, but I have so much going on right now...work, school, DF, etc.

Oh and speaking of DF, the new forums will be up hopefully Wednesday. And I'm sure all my friends will join me on there, right?!

Counting the God Damn Days....

Senior year is finally winding down for me, I love it.  Tomorrow will officially be the start of my last month of high school.  I'm not totally sure but our last day is like the 25th of May or the 29th, and our finals are either on the 29th and 30th or 30th and 31st.  Whatever, who cares.  I only have one final I'll need to be in for those days.  June 7th is graduation!

So basically things are good now.  Term paper "rough draft" is due today but I didn't have it done so I "forgot" about school again.  It was nice, sleeping most of the day and not worrying about going to school at the crack of dawn.

Had to work this weekend but still caught the jist of the NFL Draft.  Steelers had a pretty good draft, I think.

Oh and work is lots of fun now.  This Saturday we have a gay old dude coming in with about 45-50 other people for his "pirate-themed" birthday party LMAO!!  (we have a pirate ship at our course is why they chose us)  They're gonna be tailgating, they'll have party flavors, etc.  This dude is nuts, and luck me has to work this weekend.  Saturday will once again be busy as hell because I'll have to get up early to go to my sister's graduation (from college) and then we come back here and I go to work at 3 until 10.  Not to mention after that I'm going out with friends.  Busy times, though, I guess.

Yay!!

Well maybe not yay, I lied.  A few new things:

Culminating projects presentations are this Friday.  Basically thats when you stand in front of a group of teachers and explain to them what you did for your culminating project (research project, career research, etc.).  But guess what, I'm such a procrastinator and haven't even started yet!  Ain't I amazing?  I got an 8-page report to write and a poster to do in two days.

So that sucks but once that is out of the way my senior year is pretty much done.  I'm already over the number of credits needed to graduate (albeit slimly, 26.5 I have and 26 is needed to graduate), BUT I do have a few courses I still have to at least act like I care about to graduate.  That's English, Person Fitness and Consumer/Child Care (all needed to graduate).  But I'm not concerned because those courses are incredibly easy.  Senioritis HAS kicked in!

And it looks like the golf course is getting ready to open back up again here sometime soon.  I plan on going back to work there this year, though I haven't talked with my boss yet (though he pretty much assured me I'll be back).  Should be fun this year there!

Lots of new things...

Well last night I went with a bunch of friends to see the new Jim Carrey movie "The Number 23".  That is some freaky $%@#!  It's a good movie, but afterwards you become obsessed with finding the number 23 EVERYWHERE you go!  You have to see the movie to actually know why and stuff but last night was probably the freakiest night of my life.  Here's what happened AFTER we left the theater:

-- We found a license plate of a car in the parking lot with the numbers "3255" at the end.  Well 32 is 23 reversed, and 55-32 is 23!  That was messed up.  BUT
-- Then we're on the road going to find a place to eat.  And no lie, we go past this gas station and my buddy points out a "23" in the sale sign (the price was 2.39) THEN THE SIGN'S LIGHTS TURN OFF, THEY SHUT DOWN RIGHT AFTER HE POINTS OUT THE 23 IN THE PRICE!  LIKE HOLY $#@%!
-- Earlier we were at the mall and each of us bought at least a pack of football cards.  My one buddy only bought one pack, so just as a joke we ask him to count them, and low and behold, TWENTY-FREAKIN-THREE CARDS IN THE PACK!  Now he could have been hiding the others, but that right there is shocking.
-- And later that night after I get dropped off at my house my buddy calls me up at exactly 11:12 (11+12=23) and tells me just as is turned 11:12 in his car he saw an accident on the SAME ROAD as we'd seen one on earlier in the day.  And it wasn't the same, because we traveled the road a couple times in between.  We'd just gone down the road 2 minutes before and there was no accident.  I heard the sirens and everything, and it was apparently a really bad accident.  BUT HOLY CRAP.

Not to mention I live on "Route 23"...

So now my friends and I are obsessing over this number, trying to find it everywhere.  Just as a joke really, but dude, if that doesn't freak you the hell out then I don't know what will...see the damn movie!  It's not really scary at all, but it messes with your head.  Just see how many times things add up to 23 or you see the number in your daily life.  Whoa....

I'M NOT CRAZY AND NOT MAKING ANY OF THIS UP...I HAD TO WRITE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT WAS JUST SO FREAKY...

Anyway, moving on, the school year is in the final stretch run.  About 3 months left (Feb. is going by really fast, ain't it?).  Then graduation and after that BUH-BYE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM!  Looking forward to working again at the mini-golf course when it opens up for the season (which will probably be, depending on the weather, mid-to-late March).

Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, Dongbu Feng has a lot of stuff happening as well.  We have a new podcast going, you can find it here: http://dongbufeng.net/ftsw/.  The second episode will be up soon, and I'm co-hosting with Dylan!  It's really cool.  That site also has links to iTunes, please if you have an iTunes account subscribe to our podcast and please review it as well!  Also please vote for us at PodcastAlley.com.  Links for that are all there.

Also Elemental Week is coming up.  March 5th-9th will be Elemental Week at Dongbu Feng.  For details please go to http://dongbufeng.net/week/.  PLEASE enter the contests.  We need more entries so PLEASE submit some.  I would really appreciate it.

It's gonna snow....I hope

So apparently over the next 3 days (Monday-Wednesday) we're supposed to get snow.  It's supposed to start sometime in the late morning (like 8 or 9) and continue through mid-afternoon (around 3 or 4).  Then we're supposed to get more Monday night through Tuesday (all day by the looks of it).  Then Tuesday night it will turn into a wintry mix and that will go through most of Wednesday.

This is most execellent news.  I've been waiting for the snow to arrive the entire winter season (which up until recently it wasn't winter, it was actually in the 50's 3 or 4 weeks ago!).  We need some snow days my senior year.  I remember back in 2001ish we had this big storm that gave us like 8-10 inches or something like that and we had 2 days off of school and a 2-hour day the day after.  If I recall correctly it was right after a weekend too so we had a 2 1/2 day week that week!  That'd be sweet if that were the case this week.

Tomorrow (or today since it's past midnight) is Senior Skip Day at my school, an ancient tradition started many years ago where all the seniors skip together on the school day which most closely represents your graduating year - I guess that's the best way to put it.  For example, it's the 107th day, since we're the graduating forbidden>

Please cast your vote in the Avatar fan awards....and '08 Election

Well voting started last night in the Dongbu Feng Fan Awards 2007 and there's already a dead heat in both polls. In case you didn't know, here's a brief rundown of how they will work:

I have a list of categories and nominees prepared. Every week or so (may be extended based on how close the voting is) two new categories will be revealed, and put into polls. You guys vote and then come back the next week to see who won the previous weeks' categories, as well as vote for the new categories of the week. I am really excited for this, as it should help a little to soften the blow of this enormously long wait. Nothing is official yet, by the way, in terms of when the show will return for it's third season. We all hope it's as soon as possible though!

So guys please head over to this address: http://dongbufeng.net/site1/content/view/497/138/. That's the direct link to the voting page.  Please cast your vote (one per person) for the two current categories, favorite "comedic" episode and favorite episode director.  Voting will end and winners announced at the earliest next Saturday or Sunday, possibly longer if it's really close.  Like I said, while not many votes are in, it is still a dead heat in both polls!  Please cast your vote, only one (I'm fiddling with the script to make sure it doesn't allow more than 1 vote per person, but if you find a way around it PLEASE don't vote again, make it fair) per category.  I thank you all!

And second on my docket today is to talk about the 2008 Presidential election.  You guys might be all but fed up with talk of politics and stuff, but campaigns believe it or not for the 2008 Presidential election have begun.  I believe this is the most crucial election in our history.  If we let it, this whole idea of terrorism and the war of Iraq could divide us beyond repair, and I believe we need to do something about this.

So I was thinking.  I've done the research.  I'm now 18 so the 2008 election will be the first Presidential one I'll vote in.  Most of the views I hold on issues are those favored by Republicans.  Abortion, death penalty, gay marriage, stem cell research, etc.  So I've decided I'll register as a Republican.  But who to vote for?

For a while I've been thinking about former NYC mayor Rudy Guiliani, he's considered the frontrunner by many.  But when I look at the issues, he's pro-Abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-EXTREMELY strict gun laws which almost go against the 2nd Amendment, those issues are just too important to vote for someone who is against them.

Then there's John McCain.  He seems like a reasonable choice, and if it came down to him and Guiliani I'd support McCain.

But a friend of mine told me to look into Mitt Romney, now former Governor of MA.  He really holds a lot of my same beliefs.  Romney is also a proven leader, and as Governor of MA did a lot of good for the people, lowering the 6% unemployment rate from when he took over, developed a plan to balance the budget WITHOUT raising taxes (they had a rather large deficit when he took over), and even gave health care to all in MA without raising taxes yet again.  He's a former CEO too.

The only thing going against him is he's Mormon.  But he still holds most of the views Christians do (as shown by his record) and is NOT a polygamist, nor does he believe in such a thing.  You know this will come up in the election, and it's sad.  It really is.  Because he's such a good guy (great public speaker too - I've seen several of his speeches, not to knock our current President - I like Bush - but Mitt is a commanding presence and he's just great in front of people), he looks very Presidential.  Plus doesn't "President Mitt Romney" sound so cool.  I've fallen in love with this guy (not in a sick way) and I think he has what it takes to lead this country in this crucial time.  Look at his track record.  Plus he isn't a "radical Christian", because he's Mormon, different religion.

Basically we just need a guy like Mitt Romney I think in office in 2009.  I think he has what it takes to lead this great country to even more greatness.  So I just ask everyone who is/will be 18+ by November 2008 to consider this guy.  First he's got to win the Primaries, but he's got my vote in PA.  But whether you're Democrat, Republican, Independent, whatever.  We need a President who we believe can lead us.  For the 60% of America who doesn't like Bush, he's a refreshing change.  For the rest, he's a guy who is a proven leader and can take us to the next step I believe.  He was elected Governor as a Republican in one of the most liberal states in the country, so that's saying something.  He's definitely electable.  There's a chance we could take MA for the Republicans for the first time since Reagan (I think that's the last time).

Ok, God bless you if you're still reading.  I don't think I've ever written so much (besides term paper last year).  Anyway, please vote in the DF Fan Awards 2007.  And feel free to leave suggestions for categories and nominees.  Also if you've thought about it let me know who you support for President (if anyone) yet.

Time for a New Blog

Yeah I don't think I've ever gone this long without a new blog...yikes!

The Avatar season 2 finale was AMAZING.  Truly, if you're not a fan of the show, just watch the last two episodes and you'll be a fan!

I've been doing quite a lot of work over at Dongbu Feng.  New character bios, episode guides, etc.  Still have a lot more to do though

On another Avatar-related note I just bought the Fire and Water "Lost Scrolls" on Amazon.com.  It seems really cool as I can't wait to get them and actually read something and learn more about the nations.  Apparently, the Fire scroll contains info on past leaders, which means hopefully more info on Sozin.  He's the most interesting character we haven't "met" so far yet.  I've been wanting to know about him forever.

About three weeks remain in the first semester of the year (finals are on 1/12 and 1/17 - because we have a 4 day weekend in between there though I'll have a 5 day weekend because I have only 1 final to take!).  This means on Jan. 19th I will be starting the FINAL semester of my public school education!  About 5 months away from graduation!

I did tell you all about how this past summer I worked at a mini-golf course.  I will be doing the same next season.  In PA minimum wage will be a whopping 7.15 by July (it's actually 5.15 now, turning 6.25 in about 36 hours).  Since I already know what I'm doing there and I like it, I'm thinking why not go back?  Now that I'm 18 I'll be able to get more hours...and by July I'll get a mandatory raise.  I'm telling you guys, if you're ever on vacation (in spring/summer) in Lancaster, PA send me a PM.  I'll hook you up with some discounted miniature golf.  Might not sound like much, but we do have the coolest course out there!

Well that's all I got for ya now.  Happy New Year everyone (and a belated Merry Christmas..lol)!

The Avatar Forum

I am wondering what some of you guys think about the Avatar forum.  Lately there has been fuss and concern that rules are too strict/not working.  Do you think the rules are too strict?  Maybe not effective enough?  I want to know your opinions!

If you think they're not working, what would you suggest we do?  Same with if it's too strict.  I would also like to hear ideas for new rules, etc.  Anything you got that you think will help the forum.

Thanks!

Announcing my Candidacy for President of the United States of America

Just kidding....I wish I could, but you have to be 35 for that. Talk to ya in a little more than 17 years!

Man it's been forever since I've written a blog. Right now I'm doing this as I'm watching the Steelers kick butt in San Diego.

You know, I really should write more reviews. I have like 20 reviews for TV shows/episodes...that should be more. I watch 20 episodes of shows a freakin' week!

This season of Lost looks promising. Interesting how the others have their own little "community" on the island.

Friday Night Lights is an amazing show. Didn't see the movie, but the pilot was spectacular. It was very reminiscent of Remember the Titans, though, with the whole injury thing.

I'm so POed that Smith has been cancelled. That's a good show. Oh well...I'll get to catch up on Boston Legal then...have yet to see an ep. this season.

Heroes is an interesting new show. I can't really fathom how they'll keep the show alive so long. It might get old after a couple episodes, but it'll be off my radar come January anyway when 24 rolls around.

Working does have its disadvantages. I've missed the last two episodes of Jericho, which is also turning out to be a pretty good show.

Overall I'm following roughly 4-5 new shows. Heroes (for now), Friday Night Lights (until NBC cancels it; then I'll get back into Standoff - it's a shame, FNL is a good show, but it got 7 million last week - not good for network TV), Jericho, and The Nine.

Avatar has two new episodes the next two weeks. Not really looking forward to this next one, Appa's Lost Days.... but Lake Laogai in two weeks should be great. Now we'll just have to see if Nick decides to air new episodes thru the finale or if they take little breaks.

Again, if you haven't seen DF... I announced there the other day that Avatar probably will be delayed in the airing on the third season, even more so than this season. We likely won't see a new ep. until April/May...although that's not official, it's just my guess based on information given to me.

Another day, more $#@%$@!@$#@$

Today I found out the worst news of all: culminating projects are due the first week of November. The culminating project is required for seniors in order to graduate.

Well I'm not being bias in saying this, but my entire class is totally screwed for this whole thing. We have had no instruction on it at all in the last 3 years (other than like 2 minutes in English class a couple years ago), when we were supposed to have been working on it each of the last 3 years.

Ahhh...I'll figure something out. Anyway, just signed up to take the SAT next month...that oughta be fun...there's a writing section on this year's test, VERY FUN!!!

This past week I've been getting out of school at 2:10 instead of the regular 3:10 because of my awesome personality. Actually, I have a gold card, which enables you to leave school early and during study halls and come in late when they have assemblies. It's very nice only having a 6 1/2 hour day instead of 7 1/2. Now if only we started later, like around 9.

As far as my Internet ventures, I have made a few changes to the DF forum, just moving some things around. See the new changes: here. Some new things will be coming to DF soon as well, including new characters from SotFN and some more stuff. Next week will be a major week, as I will be revealing new episode titles on DF that I have received from my source.

I love being a senior in general, though. Pushing all the underclassmen around, knowing that a year from now they'll still be in that crapshoot and I'll be on to big and better things. Well...peace out!

Ideas, ANYONE?!

So here's the deal: I'm getting rather bored with the basic stuff we offer at Dongbu Feng.  Ok, so we have a character guide, an episode guide, basic info, the myriapaedia, etc.  But what sets us apart from all the other Avatar sites out there?  We have pages like "Meet the Avatars" and "Voice Actors Index" but those are just individual pages.  I'm looking for more stuff WHICH YOU GUYS WANT!

So here's what I'm proposing.  You folks here get those brains of your churning and let me know what stuff you really would like from an Avatar fansite.  I have a few things in the works, but I'm not sure if people would actually like them.

If you come up with a really good idea which I decide to use, I will give you a high-ranking spot on the DF staff AND your own banner which you can stick anywhere you'd like (on TV.com forums, on a site of yours, DF Forums, etc.).  It will be custom-designed to your liking.

I'm looking for something that will set us apart from the pack.  I am really hoping you all will put your creative brains to work here and help me out.  Post your ideas ASAP!  Thanks so much!

I'm a slacker....

Yeah, I'm the first to admit it.  Most notably I've been slacking off at DF, and also here with my submissions.

But I come to you all today asking for help.  It's been almost a year since I've been "talking" about getting my Avatar site, Dongbu Feng, up.  And well, I have been keeping it at least "up" recently.  But I have been unable to do much in terms of content and such.

So, I am asking you all for some help.  I need some help.  I am going to need a couple new admins, as well as some MODS for the forum and really members who can be active in the forums.  I know I'm asking a lot, but if you could help me out in any way (either with content, being an admin/MOD, or just being an active member) please respond to this blog and tell me in what capacity you can help in.  Thanks so much.

Also, you can keep posting random comments in the blog below.  I'll announce the winner sometime next week.

"Most Random Blog of the Month" awards goes to... this one.

There is no real rhyme or reason to this blog.  Just post a comment about something VERY random, and I'll give you something if you can come up with the most weirded out and out-of-the-blue comment.  Go for it

SAy HEY!

Sorry...had to get that out of my system.  If you can guess what song and artist that line is from (its the opening line), I'll give you a brand new, previously-used umbrella, the same one that Aunt Wu had the "calm man" give Aang in "The Fortuneteller" episode of Avatar!

On a serious note, work was insane today.  I arrived at work at 1 pm today, and there wasn't many people there.  For most of the afternoon and early evening, there wasn't many people there.  But come freakin' 6:30-6:45-ish, it was INSANE.  From that time until I left (a little past 9:30), we were busy as heck.  Since I was working with the same girl my manager doesn't trust (see a few blogs back), I had to run register (and couldn't leave), and had almost no break in between then (my manager came in and took over the register for about a half hour, but for the rest of the time I was on).  It was nuts.  Well Saturday is usually our busiest night, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised (especially since it was 90 degrees earlier in the day...people came when it was cooler at night), but still.  Apparently it was worse the night before (Friday) so fortunately I didn't have work then, otherwise I'd be going nuts.

Next weekend I work Friday-Sunday, so that should be interesting.

This summer I have completed 24 seasons 2 and 3 (both are AWESOME and highly recommended!), and am now re-living season 4 (the first 24 season I watched; reflecting upon it after seeing all the previous seasons).  See I first got into 24 during season 4 wen it started after playoff football.  Boy am I glad I did!  It is a kickass show to the extreme.  I then saw (in this order) seasons 1-5-2-3.  I could try to rank the seasons, but it is impossible.  After 3 episodes of season 4, I am remembering why I got into the show in the first place.  If you are looking for a show to get in to, 24 is the one for you.  It is the most action/adventure filled show on the air today.  The special effects and sound mixing are WONDERFUL.

School starts back up in another month...%$#&#@$%#%&!  Don't wanna go back, although this is my senior year.

Prison Break season 2 starts on August 21st.  This season looks killer.  That's another show you should all get in to.

Already gone on too long...sorry .  Peace.

On the recent leakage of info on Avatar...

Instead of clogging up the forums with this (when most of the people who visit my blogs are from the Avatar forum anyway), I thought I would just post this as a new blog post.

I just got a message from my source for Avatar. He says, "I can tell you that that the creative team at Avatar, including the creators, directors, writers, and others, have been extremely disappointed and frustrated by these terrible leaks." The Avatar staff is understandably upset about this leakage. The fact it became so widespread (it was discussed on major forums, including Avatarspirit, Distant Horizon and TV.com) is even more disappointing.

Personally, I have tried to avoid this information as much as possible. Although, I have to say the return of some old characters, which I knew was happening but not when, was disappointing to find out. And the fact someone even created a "So-and-so Returns!" thread in the forum is disappointing. There ARE people who don't want to know spoilers, and had they not opened up the "Spoilers and Speculation" thread, they would not have known that.

Therefore, I am instituting a new spoiler policy in the forums. From now on, ANY thread containing information about future episodes (spoilers) which were not clearly marked AND have a non-descript title (like "Character A Returns!" is pretty obvious...but "Old Faces Return!" or something like that leaves the door wide open) will be deleted permanently. Also, any mention of these spoilers which were obtained from the Nick.com breech will be immediately deleted. Any future breech will hopefully be controlled by the staffs at the forums (with this experience behind us, hopefully fan forums will keep closer tabs on the spoilers in their forums). I feel this breech is a betrayal of the entire Avatar crew, and for that I am extremely sorry to Mike, Bryan, Aaron, John, Tim, Elizabeth, Giancarlo, Ethan, Lauren, and the entire Avatar crew who works so hard on this show. And thanks for all the hard work you have put up through now, and hopefully that will continue!

It seems we have some very exciting things to look forward to in the rest of the season, though: "There are some major surprises in store for the end of the season, and if they end up leaking ahead of time it will really really suck for everyone, including and especially Avatar fans. I hope that doesn't happen, but I guess we'll just have to wait and find out."
