I completely support the writers, don't get me wrong. Especially as I am a person who watches all of my shows through online sources. I believe the creative minds behind all my favorite tv shows should see revenue from what I spend online watching their creations. Having said that... C'mon already!! Its been months! Get back to the negotiating table and iron out a deal. We get it, the power is yours and you can bring the whole industry to a stand still. The pen really is mightier than the sword.
On the other hand, thanks to the strike, I've had a chance to catch up on other tv shows that I normally wouldn't have had time to watch. Check out the amazing Charlie Jade from South Africa, Dr. Who and Torchwood from the UK. And I even got round to watching all four seasons of Enterprise. And it was a lot better than I expected. I only have the strike to thank for that.
So, CW cancelled Veronica Mars. And renewed One Tree Hill and Smallville. The powers that be at that network must be out of their minds. How an witty, intelligent show like VM gets shut down and over the brainlessness of OTH and the well-past its prime Smallville is beyond me.
And what about all those awful reality shows they are developing next season? Who in their right mind is going to watch those?? Is the US audience really that brain-dead or is it just the network exec who think they are. They should just take a look at the watch or pass polls here on tv.com for a better view! Bring back Veronica!!!
If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. It's up to you.... as Frankie sings. I'm off to the big apple tomorrow morning. In fact, my flight takes off in exactly 12 hours. I have major shopping plans. Kinky boots and cool jeans are on the list. And imagine that I'll actually be able to watch my favorite tv eps live as they air in the US on thursday night, instead of waiting for them to show up here in Europe. Additional bonus. I've got tickets to see spamalot on Broadway on saturday night, and hopefully I'll be able to catch either Conan O'Brien or Dave Letterman live on thursday or friday. Can't wait!
Yesterday it was the newsboy emblem on TV.com, today its a tagger and I voted! emblem on Gamespot. How fun! What else can I earn? Must investigate more...
I was playing around with FilmSpot last night and started submitting news to the site. And this morning I found a new 'news boys' emblem in my profile here on tv.com. Fun! Never thought I'd be so excited about earning a new emblem. But its strangely rewarding. I can suddenly understand why so many users here are always going on about it.
