Three words can summarise the entirety of Pink Floyd. Best band ever. Unbeatable sound quality and innovativeness pushed Pink Floyd into the spotlight and they ran forward eagerly. Starting with Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd pushed the limits of music with their "spacey" often drifting music. The first popular album (Dark Side Of The Moon) was also one of the most psychedellic of their albums. After which Roger Waters (bass player/song writer) took ever increasing control over the band, but never failed to deliver with amazing guitar-heavy albums (Animals/The Wall/The Final Cut). Shortly after The Final Cut the band ceased all activity and went through drastic changes. Roger Waters ended up quitting and suing for name and song rights. He lost. So David Gilmour (guitarist) and Nick Mason (keyboards/percussion) plunged onward producing less thoughtfull lyrics but never before acheived musical genious. Anyone who rates lower than a 9 is doing this band a serious discredit.

Too long as Dark Side Of The Moon stood as Pink Floyd's pinnacle. While I will not deny that the music is pure genious it is by far not their best album, simply the most known. As most Pink Floyd enthusiasts will tell you, Dark Side Of The Moon popularized Pink Floyd, but it also blinded consumers to their other great works. The barrier shattering DSOTM was their portal but not their masterpeice. The follow-up album, largely overlooked, was Wish You Were Here, in my oppinion far superior in both lyrics and musical content.

Electric Light Orchestra is one of the biggest progressive rock bands ever. Highly popular for their orchestral feel and synthesizers, which were state of the art technology at the time. At ELO's pinnacle they generated two albums (A New World Record amd Out Of The Blue) both widely successful. Out Of The Blue is characterised by an do-wop style backing vocals and synthesized sounds. High points of the album: "Turn To Stone", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Big Wheels", "Mr. Blue Sky".
